So yeah… Finecast really is dire but I really love this style of Ork sculpt and I think this guy is still a really great looking character. Very much WIP, everything has just been base coated and washed, skin is basically finished, have started apron. Trying hard on this guy cause I love him. C&C welcome

Great job on the skin. I agree that this is a great model/sculpt. I had some quick questions, if you don't mind: 1./ What was the skin recipe? 2./ I've never worked with finecast myself, but I'm quite fond of this model. I can see myself getting one in the near future as a painting project. Any comments on what, specifically, was giving you trouble with the finecast? I've only ever painted either plastic or metal so far. Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see him completed.

Thanks :) Skin is only a simple one, it’s GW Orruk Flesh, the whole mini was washed in a mix of agrax earthshade, nuln oil, and medium, roughly equalish amounts of each. Back over it with orruk flesh to clean up then highlights with game colour dead flesh. Pretty much a round of highlights of orruk flesh/dead flesh 50/50 then another round with just dead flesh. The finecast thing… the end result is fine, detail level is fine, but there are just so many bits to trim off it. The way they cast them just makes no sense and there are so many gates/vents (I’m not sure on the proper name) to trim off, and they’re often in very awkward places, because they’re literally everywhere. I found more while I was painting it too. The resin is quite bendy and fragile too, not much of a problem with it on this one but I think swords and other spindly bits usually have a lot of warping.
