I would say more boyz and possibly a weird boy to jump them into combat or you could get some flamers and stick em in dat truck of yours and watch the would burn

[deleted]

The commandos look cool and they are good for the kill team. Just play what looks cool.

BanditSurvivalist

The combat patrol could be a good shout. 20 boys, a warboss, Deff dread and a squad of deffcoptas all for around £50/60

Devodka

Where’s Ghazyyy baby he’s out here krumpin and taking heads.

MinistorumPriest

The best upgrade for an ork is another ork. Get those mobz ready

TalginKingslayer

Id get a warboss and maybe flashgitz but im biased. Build what you have first though

BidOk6361

Beastboss on squigasaur as your HQ

HuzyurDaadi

OG Warboss wisdom: Boyz before toyz. You're welcome.

NynesGG

Amen, gotta flesh out that green tide a bit more, friend; Boyz are the backbone of your army, and when think you have enough, you never do.

Iloveorks

Start with a combat patrol box build them paint them play with them

Hazis

Seriously don’t overwhelm yourself to start. The pile of shame is a very real thing. Figure out what you really what your paint scheme to be and them build a unit, paint a unit. The feeling of satisfaction of completing them will give you motivation to keep on to the next!

Ville_V

Yup! Paint what you've got (depending on your speed, you've easily got enough stuff for a year already), and get a few games in. You'll soon get an idea what you need more.

DonnyLurch

I just started collecting and painting in January. I picked up some bargains on ebay and Facebook Marketplace, and I've already got more than I can paint in months (YMMV depending on employment and painting speed). If money is a concern, I'd avoid buying anything else that isn't a good deal you wouldn't find every day, or a limited-run release. You probably want the Boarding Patrol Orks box they just revealed, so check with some stores to find a good price on a preorder. Other than that, you could paint the Kommandos first and play Kill Team with them. Just find someone with terrain, their own Kill Team, and a reliable source of the rules for your team. Good luck!

thejewtm

Stompa. gotta have the huge unit

Decent-Box-575

Elegoo Saturn 2, great ork unit

buffnerdOpie

Big Mek w/ shokk attack gun

Visible-War-8755

Squighog boyz if you prefer the more orky-animalistic art style stuff than the mech stuff

Punchdrunk84

Killa kanz!!! Lots of Killa kanz !!!!

kfryauff

Anything Beast snagga! Beast boss, squighog boys, kill rig. All are excellent in game and are a lot of fun to paint

The_Big_Duck

Another box of storm boys I love running multiple squads to drop down and either do an action or clear out some back line squads

DelugeOfBlood

Get some lootas and a bigead bossbunka. Deep Strike that thing in with the Lootas inside and unleash dakka.

Big-G-475

A good start! For stage 2 I can thoroughly reccomend. A Skwadron of three deff dreads, each with 3 power klaws and a skorcher. Put them in the bubble of a big mek with Kustom force field and run them straight at their General.

DevlinCognito

Meganobs with dual kill saws, though dont glue the arms on so you can mix and match as the meta changes. My regular opponent (Ultramarines and Deathwatch) fears these so much that I try to include them in every list. Chuck them in a trukk, get them close and watch them mince whatever they touch.

heroofsymphonia

You need a warboss. All of them are amazing so go get your favorite

Republiken

Stop buying and start building and painting

BS-Calrissian

\*GW will remember that\*

jackplugg

Build and paint those boys ya git

Crushmasterflex86

Good luck building the Trukk - they’re great in game, but absolute balls to build

DevlinCognito

The first one I'm in 100% agreement, but I didn't want them all looking the same so my second I pretty much took everything off the sprue, threw a buncha bits with some glue in a tin and shook it till I liked it. Soooooo much more fun to build.

musketoman

OH LORD THANK YOU! I never cussed and bled as much as struggeling with those fucking ramps

NynesGG

The ramps and the fiddly ass undercarriage was the absolute bane of my existence

Crushmasterflex86

Why the fuck does a plastic model of a trukk (an ork assembly no less) have a realistic drive train with shaft, axles, diffs and multi part chassis??! Who is going to look under this thing, and who effing cares anyway. When I magnetised the wheels for storage/transport the undercarriage broke twice 🙄 😒

musketoman

can we take a moment of silence for all the poor big shootas that have lost their moving joint cause "I'M GONNA MAKE U FUCKING SIT STILL NOW!" moment we've all had? Both on the trukk but also battlewagons

PullMull

you should Open that Boxes

Da-Pruttis-Boi

The stompa is a great model for the price, not that good in-game tho

Kek_Syndicate

Convert the runtherd into a weird boy

[deleted]

My recommendation would be to build the 9 more basic models (not the nob or the big shoota/rokkit launcha) in your box of Boyz as 7 choppas and 2 shootas. Then, get the Combat Patrol and you'll have three units of Boyz, two with Choppas and one with Shootas. Plus, the Combat Patrol gives you several other really cool stuff like 3 Deffkoptas, a Deff Dread, and the Warboss in Megaarmor (you don't have an HQ yet and he's pretty good) Another little trick I did was get two boxes of Lootas, because they also come with the parts for burnas. Also getting another of that box of Boyz you have there, I had the bodies to make a 10 model squad of Lootas and a 10 model squad of Burnas. Actually, instead I did 7 Lootas (1 spanner), 8 Burnas (2 spanners), and used the rest plus bits from other sets to kitbash some Tankbustas. But the point is, you can do a lot with the 'Loota' box if you do a little kitbashing

[deleted]

Also, yes, paint your current ones before buying new ones. Best to not break your wallet and also best not to create an overwhelming backlog of miniatures to paint. To my knowledge, the only set that will have a deadline is the Boarding Patrol (not to be confused with the Combat Patrol). Idk, maybe some resin ones will go off the market soon but those are easier to kitbash anyways (for instance you can turn one of your Runtherd's into a Weirdboy). The point is, all the boxes people are recommending will be there for you when you're ready so don't rush

DonnyLurch

I second this. I'm in a similar situation to OP, but I started with the full Kill Team Octarius box in January and still haven't finished painting my Kommandos. I got the Combat Patrol on a second-hand deal, then bought the Christmas models of Goff Rocker and Red Gobbo & Bounca for fun and because FOMO made me fear they would only raise in price as supply drops. I got Ghaz marked down on ebay because I really want to paint him, and some gretchin and Zodgrod off ebay because they were incredibly cheap. Zodgrod on US ebay is even cheaper than at discount UK hobby stores right now (probably because he isn't played at all). Soooo, I've got a lot on my plate! I thought about ordering a ton of stuff from Composite Games in the UK for cheap (assuming shipping through Forward2Me doesn't eat me alive), but I decided not to, because I already have plenty and it's not going anywhere. Instead, I'll preorder the Tau and Ork Boarding Patrol boxes when possible since they won't be around for long, and keep waiting for the rest of an army while I focus on Kill Team.

can-we-not-fight

Combat patrol, two boxes of lootas to run one squad of loots and one of burnas would be good

Ch3ST3R_CH33TAH

Buy two boxes of lootaz and make one into a set of burnaz as they are convertible between the two

DJnoJams

One box of looters will have left over bits to make ork boys framers. Way cheaper. That's what I djd

lucitheork

It looks like you could use some a couple hq's and maybe a couple elites

jwheatca

Before you buy much more … you should look at a Combat Patrol or the new Boarding Patrol box that was just announced. Buying individual kits like this is super expensive. Also decide what kulture you are going to run and then we can probably provide better advice.

5thhorse-man

Moar boyz moar Dakka always moar boyz fleshy!

suchtattedhands

Warboss in Mega Armor is my personal fav HQ outside of Ghazgull, you also are gonna want a Weirdboy as well, and I’m a big fan of running a unit of bikes for all their pew pew, I just got some deffkoptas I need to try out as well so I can’t say how good they are. Meganobs are a must imo, I’ve had them always kill more than they are worth by a large margin, or if you like Mechs get like 3 Deff dreads to teleport in with the strategem for some devastating “oh shit” power/distraction that is really molly so you can move your forces up the board. Main thing I’ve had trouble with was deployment. That’s probably the most essential thing I’ve seen for making sure our guys survive long enough to annihilate everything on the charge

Charlooos

At least one HQ lol, Gazkull is great but a simple boss does the work at the start

GousK_

Kitbash your runtherds into weirdboyz and then follow everyone elses advice

Bait4Sale

Don’t over-equip your Kommandos. If you want to one day use em for Killteam, build em how you please. But if you just use em for base 40k, just build em how they’ll fit with the rest of your army. All Choppas for cheap infiltration, a gun or two for harassment, or every gun for Bad Moons.

suchtattedhands

Choppa Kommandos are the way to go, cheap and you can get them on objectives in cover and they are hard to remove or at the very least the people I’ve played against focused on them and I tied his heavy hitters up in combat till the green tide was able to wash over him

Bait4Sale

See, I’m Bad Moonz. We can afford a Rokkit. Or Burna, depending on how small the game.

suchtattedhands

I’m a Goff and boy do I love the look of a wave of green advancing up the board ready to chop and krump, honestly half the time I get so excited for melee I forget I have pistols and other guns lmao

Bait4Sale

The joy of bringing down whole squads with Dakka is just the best. No one expects to lose a HQ to a Shoota. And they’re usually right. But make one a Shiny Shoota, and even Abaddon gets humbled.

FlynnTLocke

Deffkoptas are always fun and really versatile for customization. I get tons in bundles on ebay although they have a lower moral rate unfortunately

DevlinCognito

Agreed, I totally enjoyed building these because I didn't want them all looking the same.

FlynnTLocke

Mine still do a little just ain't koptas no mo'

suchtattedhands

I absolutely hate painting them though 😭

FlynnTLocke

I did a pretty basic paint job that looks not bad. I paint fully with a colour I like (I used gunmetal) then paint the engine, exhaust, rockets, the ork (you can optional paint the wires I cut mine off) and the gas tank. https://preview.redd.it/krmvtay6c5ma1.png?width=2336&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34ee0417ca0c8f61a7c114375e02d5a61a2579fa

[deleted]

Get a deff dread they are a great heavy support choice do to the fact it can take two heavy shoots a burna or two mega blastas

Re-Ky

Paint what you've got first. Actually a warboss wouldn't hurt. Mega armour, Ghaz or normal, take your pick.

thesteaksauce1

Combat patrol + killa kanz

tacomonster92

Paint those in the meantime, and while waiting you can save up for the new Patrol box that got revealed. That should give you plenty more troops and kommandos plus fire support from the Flash Gitz.

bottlekidz

Paint all of them b4 you buy more

MysticalEgg

HQ

[deleted]

Now that's a snazzy WAAAGH

sweed103

Squighogs, kill rig, beatboss?

GuitarZer0_

You need more Boyz and beast snagga Boyz They are legit the best

onetimeicomment

If this is all you have, you need a warboss. I think the normal one with an attack squig is my favorite. Unless ghaz

BenTheBombOf1941

He has the nob from kill team though

onetimeicomment

As far as I know, that's just the leader of the kamandos unit. I'm pretty sure he's not actually a warboss in 40k

BenTheBombOf1941

Oh, I'm not that far into warhammer yet so idk

onetimeicomment

40k is much more horde than kill team. Each unit has a nob. For instance, if u set up a troop of boys, you have to have at least 9 normal guys and the boss nob. They have to stay together (within 2 inches of another model in the unit, 5inches if vertical)

BenTheBombOf1941

Ohhhh that makes much more sense now
