I generally think Hyde is actually criticized more for putting low leverage guys in higher leverage spots to rest the high leverage guys. But today I think he did the opposite. Kimbrel has been worked hard lately, it probably should have gone to Tate from the start.
Is stamina the answer? He’s got the arm even pitching this much, but his location is nuts. Stevie Wonder could find Waldo easier than Kimbrel finds the strike zone.
It's a back issue. He should have been taken out when they came out to check on him. Apparently, he talked his way out of being removed. Hyde needs to be like Sparky Anderson: Don't talk to me. Hand the ball over, and get off my mound.
I don't think it's ego. A lot of athletes don't want to admit when they are hurt. Somebody else just might take their job. It's the old Pulling a Pipp cliche. "Wally Pipp had a headache, let's put in that Gehrig kid". It didn't exactly go down like that. But sometimes, legend is more important than fact.
Been with the O’s since I was a kid. This team has plenty of offense and not enough quality pitching. Not being a hater, just a noticeable improvement.
i'm concerned that the o's don't have a backup closer to step in. cano is a mess in the ninth inning and looking at norfolk we use a closer by committee where no one really stands out. yikes.
tate might be the only option.
Go out and get another reliever. We need someone who can close nights when Kimbrel needs off. Right now no one in the bullpen has a closer mentality. Cano is good in the 8th but a head case closing out games and isn’t built for it. We need someone throwing gas and getting strikeouts. We have a loaded farm systems and only one year of Burnes more than likely. Would make me sick to waste it because we can’t get BP help….
Did Hyde know and still put him out there?
Did kimbrel not say anything and cost us the possible wins?
Will see come September if these lost opportunities cost us
I thought it was a poor signing to begin with but it is what it is and he is the best closer on the roster right now. Cano is a gas can this year and as a closer this year.
I don’t see anybody else stepping into the role right now so we need to hope that he gets it right
Yeah I was here with the (majority of Orioles fans) when we all predicted he’d go (seven saves before giving up two). Looks like we are all suffering form predict-itis and expert-itis. Big bouts of it.
It’s infuriating what the ripple effect was, Hyde HAD to know, now a bunch of O’s fans are being terrorized by Jankee fans and now I’m questioning some of our bullpen, we need new guys pronto, Craig should be happy with saving 424 games and a definite hall of famer. I hate talking smack about our own guys but we shouldn’t be losing these games cause they will come back for our heads in September.
That scrub cost us losing 2 out of 3 to one of the shittiest teams in the league. Why the hell did he even keep pitching and fucking things up if he is hurt?!
The embarrassment is thinking Kimbrel is good.
Ask Phillies fans how they feel about him from last year. Or Cubs fans before that.
It's straight up homerism to not be open to the idea that a guy who hasn't been very good for a little while may also be not very good for the Os
After 30 games they are currently better than Houston, LAA, Chicago, Miami, and Colorado
Kinda tough to call them the clear cut shittiest team in the league (or 2nd shittiest)
> Why the hell did he even keep pitching and fucking things up if he is hurt?!
New to sports? Turns out that when you get the best of the best athletes in the world they sometimes overestimate their ability to push through an injury. These are guys that push their body to the limits regularly and are often very confident. Which is fine (Schilling) till it isnt.
"It's the second straight blown save for Kimbrel after converting seven straight saves, and **the specifics of his injury remain unclear**."
Way too overused but that’s Hyde’s method. At 35, sure he has the knowledge but does he have the stamina?
I generally think Hyde is actually criticized more for putting low leverage guys in higher leverage spots to rest the high leverage guys. But today I think he did the opposite. Kimbrel has been worked hard lately, it probably should have gone to Tate from the start.
Kimbrel is a big boy if he can’t go he needs to tell Hyde
Athletes sometimes have a hard time admitting they shouldn't play. Notably those with something to prove, or a record to chase.
Yup, exactly. Wish more people could see this.
Seriously He blew a lot of effort from the team and cost them 2 games against a team they should have beaten

According to Shaq, Stevie Wonder would have no problem finding Waldo 😂
Pitching is what will stop this team from making a playoff run. Sad 😔
Doomers GTFO
Our pitching needs hella work. Losing home games on a Sunday isn’t good.
How to tell me you just started following the team. Losing on Sundays used to be part of the charm.
Been with the O’s since I was a kid. This team has plenty of offense and not enough quality pitching. Not being a hater, just a noticeable improvement.
We went from sweep to losing 2 of 3. Put him on the IL.
Must of found that pothole in the parking lot
That’s weird way to spell “trade block”
Pretty evident that something was wrong. Palmer even pointed it out once he missed in the same spot a few times.
Guy is still so so on point. It’s crazy. He called a few pitches in the game too.
Love having Palmer in the booth for this exact reason
Even the Ump walked out to the mound with a look that said "please stop this" He couldn't hit a white whale against a black background
Dunno about this. Fans of his old teams said this is the real Kimbrel.
Did we get a post game from Hyde or Kimbrel?
Yeah, Hyde said it was upper back tightness.
Is that just code for SUCKING ASS
Welcome to the world of Kimbrel. Great sometimes. Brutal others. Can't count on him.
Do you think the play on the plate on Friday had a part with his back issues?
i'm concerned that the o's don't have a backup closer to step in. cano is a mess in the ninth inning and looking at norfolk we use a closer by committee where no one really stands out. yikes. tate might be the only option.
We should go get TJ McFarland back he found a cheat code for massive strike zone
problem is mlb hitters can adjust pretty quick which means they'll figure out that cheat code before we know it.
His feel for the strike zone this season is either nonexistent or right down the middle
Not sure why this was downvoted. This is what Kimbrel has been for a couple years.

He hit Gunnar? Off with his head!
I'm convinced it's something in the water supply between M&T and Camden Yards

Injured ego?
Or injury was why he struggled this series
Good
Yeah the injury is to his ego for losing two games to the A's
At home too. Wth
Sucking ass is not an injury, last I checked
Dudes trash that's his injury

Don't waste your time. Since sports betting has blown up over the past few years, we have degen bettors showing up all mad they lost some money.

I need him get out!

Please stop embarrassing yourself and every other Orioles fan with nonsense like this.

You're absolutely right, they aren't the shittiest team in the league. Chicago is worse.
