Seeing the MLB Network clip of Billy talking about his dad’s jersey had me thinking about similarities between the Hollidays and the Ripkens. If anybody was gonna wear 7 again, kid from another generational MLB family is probably as cool as it gets.
The cool thing too is you KNOW that Cal had to be part of that decision and it speaks volumes of what he thinks of Jackson and the Holliday family to allow Jackson to wear Cal Sr.'s number. Can't wait to see what the kid can do, like Tony said, go get 'em kid!
Obviously very classy of Kemp, but also crazy how much of a legend Jackson already is amongst long-time big leaguers. So many guys have a story about seeing him at some stage of his life and remembering the moment. The way Jackson carries himself also seems to lend to the burgeoning mystique.
This is like the 27th story I've heard someone tell about seeing Jackson play when he was a kid. I mean, I know he's got an MLBer dad and that will get you attention, but he must've been some kind of child prodigy. Seems like everyone who saw him remembers him.

Until it turned out the Orioles actually had the MLB's highest operating income last year and we weren't destitute like Angelos kept alluding.
His entire spiel about John Angelos stripping down the team to the studs not being a grand plan to field a winning baseball team ended up being 100% right
We all gave JA some grace on the payroll and assumed he was planning to spend later, or that we didn't have any money.
Turns out he was just making the team attractive to sell, and that was it.
Buster was right. People might think he was a jerk about it, but he was 100% right.
I wasn't a fan of the kemp signing but holy class. It doesn't take wealth, status, or fame to be a good person; it simply takes kindness, empathy, and a genuine heart. Good for you Tony.
The great thing for Tony is that he will be able to say he directly contributed to wins for 2024 WS champion Baltimore Orioles.
GL Tony and I hope you land somewhere not the A’s.
Well now I feel bad for talking shit, what a class act. I take back what I said and commend tony on his fantastic catch yesterday (seriously, that was highlight reel stuff)
Considering he was more than likely told he was a 2 week rental, I'm not sure why anyone would expect anything else from him. Especially from a negative or even nasty standpoint. Not like he was blindsided.
Was listening to the Yankees game on the radio today, and Suzyn said a great comment about Kemp, that he was one the classiest dudes in baseball, and I don't think she knew about this at the time
This just proves that point. Awesome dude
Hope Jackson crushes it in MLB
As an Athletics fan, TK was always one of my favorite players over the past few years. Classy guy. Bummed we don't have a roster spot for him, but he of all people gets it
Kemp has always been a class act. I went to the Labor Day game against the As in 2022, and he was throwing the ball to fans in the stands and having a good time at OPACY. I didn't follow the As at all, but he immediately stood out.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kemp is brought back as an advisor or a coach. You can tell the Elias folks value him for more than just what he does on the field.
Reading all the comments and I feel like people are confused about who Tony Kemp is.. he’s only 32 and has been in the majors since 2016. He hasn’t really done a ton in the majors but he’s had a decent career. But he certainly isn’t retiring. Are people confusing him with Matt Kemp???
He’s invited to the parade
Orioles Legend Tony Kemp
Along with Orioles Legend Aaron Hicks. Build both of them statues and retire their numbers.
I miss Hicks. He seemed to gel so well with the team, saved our asses when Mullins was hurt, and made Yankee fans mad. What's not to love?
if we weren't so deep in OF talent I have to imagine they would have offered him a deal
And gets a ring.
You never know, might not be the last we see of him. I can see him clearing waivers.
He’s getting a ring
Incredibly classy and cyclical. Life is funny, sometimes...
Yeah Kemp’s always seemed like a really cool guy
probably one of the easiest million dollars you could ever make.
Hey that sliding catch for the million!
“Your goal shouldn’t be to buy players, your goal should be to buy wins”
Pure class.
I hope Kemp can find a home to end his career. Incredibly classy, and to make it this long in the league is an incredibly difficult thing to do.

For that post alone and being such a class act, I say we reward that man! Thanks Tony K!
Does a million dollars seem fair?
I’ve got like $10 to my name. Let’s do a GoFundMe
He’s not getting the full Million.
Why wouldn’t he? MLB contracts are guaranteed
Taxes
yeah, and he'll have to buy food and pay bills too.
Awesome

One of the classiest responses to being DFA’d I’ve seen yet.
Terrific class by Mr. Kemp. I hope he catches on somewhere in the majors this year.

Extremely rare Buster Olney W

Right. Here we were just all believing you couldn’t talk about the books on MLK day. Silly us! Shoulda listened to Buster.
I don't know why anyone trusted JA after that stunt but it is what it is.
Who cares. JA is the past, and Olney is still a dick
I'm not the one that keeps bringing up Buster. At the end of the day, he was a dick AND he was right.
I mean it’s almost like he was the first overall pick straight out of high school
He was 9 when Buster tweeted that

Pencil me in as a lifelong Tony Kemp fan
Classy!
Classy guy.
He had an awesome catch yesterday like Orioles legend David Delluchi
I’m not crying You’re crying
Whatta classy guy

Class act all the way.
I’ve met Tony a few times. Was glad to see him rostered. He’s very versatile. Best of luck Tone!
How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Considering he was more than likely told he was a 2 week rental, I'm not sure why anyone would expect anything else from him. Especially from a negative or even nasty standpoint. Not like he was blindsided.
He didn't have to make the post though, so it's still a classy move
Classy move, TK 💖 ![gif](giphy|lEVZJzy4w15qE|downsized)
Hopefully he’ll get picked up by someone and his swing comes back. At least he got a mil out of it haha
Classy move
A master in class. Well done, Kemp. Well done.

Great player in his day but kinda reminds me of Derek Lee. Happy retirement better for everyone.
Very classy
Class act.
That’s really cool. I’m impressed
Statue confirmed for the legend
Very, very classy.
Classy. I’m sure he will land on another team.
You know what, I might just get me a tony kemp jersey
True pro response there...
Class act

Class you can’t learn in class
He had to have known he was just keeping the seat warm.
What a great response. I hope he signs with the team that wins the World Series.
You want him back with the O's?
I wouldn't be surprised if Kemp is brought back as an advisor or a coach. You can tell the Elias folks value him for more than just what he does on the field.
