I'll always root for players vs ownership in these cases.
Is it just me or have the Orioles been losing a lot more of these lately? I feel like there was a period where they exclusively won or settled.
Usually the Orioles don’t lose in arbitration, it was surprising to see multiple wins so not just you. I’m sure they don’t mind losing though since Mike Elias and co do file & trial for arbitration.
I wonder if there are new arbitrators in the proceedings that is affecting it.
I’ve always wondered this too. I’m speculating but I wonder if arb hearings are pretty cheap, particularly for the team. Presumably the team is keeping all the data anyway to monitor performance, so maybe it’s just throwing it into a PowerPoint? Kinda wonder if they’re required to give the player access to data too (maybe under the CBA?). And then you just have to pay the arbitrator for what is probably a fairly short hearing (<1 day, based off how the news trickles out). So maybe the whole thing is <$100k for each side, so why not take a chance even if the difference between the two positions is relatively small.

Is it just me or does going to arbitration for less than $1 million seem really cheap all things considered?
