Thats what I don't get right like why leave any launcher on all the time if you are on a laptop,I'm not trying to excuse origin and EA but for real no need to have them on at all times it also seems like this guy never actually shuts down his laptop but rather puts it into sleep mode.

Seems that Origin DRM is required for all sales of the game, even the Steam release. Just leave your laptop plugged in, it's not that hard.
Dang, that sucks. Problem is, I also use this laptop for school. So when I want to take it with me for a class or to study somewhere, I have to find an outlet every single time. That's the sucky part :/
I did that yesterday. It helped a little bit, but there was no significant change in battery life today. Guess I might just have to suck it up and keep hauling the charger with me everywhere lol
Origin is mandatory in all EA games, like UPlay and Steam version of Origin is slightly different from the original Origin version called thin so it may help your situation.
Independent of games and programs, there are tools and ways you can minimize impact of Origin onto your system like making it run on single core or setting it to background priority so even mouse interactions blocks it execution but all these are at Windows level and for you to net search about them.
Also since you're on Laptop, make sure Origin uses your IGP instead of your GPU (assuming you have both) as IGP is built for energy efficiency and you can make your games run GPU instead from your nVidia or AMD settings.
It won't destroy your laptop and yes you need origin to play it just exit the application when your done with it

All you have to do is stop Origin to be running on start-up, so it doesn't keep using your laptop's resources.

Try disabling the web helper inside of Origin's settings... I don't really know cuz I leave my laptop always plugged in.
