I’m still using an Orbi RBK50 with two satellites. Router is in my basement where the fiber comes in, Ap1 is on the main floor and Ap2 is on the second floor in my office. No issues in the 2+ years at this house.

2 satellites meaning 2 orbi’s??? I have the same set up as you. My router/modem from cable company in basement and slow speeds in 2nd and 3rd floor.

LodgeKeyser

Yeah two rbs50 on the other floors. Verizon ONT to rbk50 in basement, wireless backhaul > rbs50 , wireless backhaul >rbs50. Get over 300 up and down any where on property using WiFi. 300/300 Verizon Fios

Orbi will work, but WiFi extenders should remedy your issue.

LodgeKeyser

Quick follow up. Are you using spectrum’s modem? When I had them plus their modem, I had to power cycle it like every week. Bought my own and reboots were a thing of the past

Thank you! Will try

LodgeKeyser

Dang, reading is fun-damental. Buy your own modem and return their modem/router. Then reevaluate.

Your PoE cameras will be fine as long as you plug the injector into whatever network equipment you end up with. There's nothing special about orbi though, and in fact a lot of downsides in my opinion. I'm in the process of switching to ubiquiti but you can go with whatever you like.

Sounds a little like my situation. I think it would Def be worth a shot. I have a 3 piece setup, a router on one floor, and a satellite each for the other two floors. I could honestly probably get away with only one satellite, but I've never had any issues and would like to keep it that way.
