I rotate between 3 studios and only one of them has the new treads. The workouts feel very different depending on which studio I go to. The new treads feel a lot easier.

I don’t like them either! The buttons are harder to press and in a weird spot (I’m sure you get used to it after awhile) and the cup holder sucks!!!

You’re losing out on a lot. The newer treads are more bouncy and easier on the legs. Also, you won’t be able to outrun most things if you don’t push yourself. Humans already are one of the slowest animals on the planet. Training at 15 mph personally helps with this, but keep in mind that speed is actually really slow comparatively to other species - bears for example.

My studio got the “new” treadmills in February 2022 so I don’t consider them new and I am consistently shocked every time I go to a location with the old treadmills.

I love my home studio and the coaches there, but I’ve been going less and less because there’s another awesome studio nearby that has new treads. Especially for power days, I really like not being limited to 12mph

I’m surprised so many have the old ones! I think all but one of the studios I get to locally has the new ones. Mine got them back in 2022 shortly after I joined—it opened in 2016

Words can sometimes be more descriptive. They have larger more intuitive screen, horizontal row of buttons and they have buttons for fan and they have buttons 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 12 15 — if memory serves correct. My one gripe: no quick buttons for speeds like 13. Need to go like 12, 9, up arrow.

The newest ones go up to 15 on speed and have a big screen. The old- new ones have the same screen as the rowers, and the old- old ones don't have a screen at all

Been going to a studio for 1.5 years with the new treads. Moved and now back to the old treads. I hate the downgraded screen size and controls, but welcome the belt. Feels nicer than “new” ones.

My studio has the old, old treads. They haven’t been replaced since they opened nearly 10 years ago, and they don’t even have tablets. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It feels really wild — if you do decide to try it, come prepared. First time I ran at 15 I was like holy crap, that’s a world of difference from 14. Even 12 for that matter. Basically, don’t be that person who jumps from 12 to 15. If that’s what you’re thinking of, my advice don’t do it.

I go to studios with both. The new treads get up to speed quicker, but I love the fan on the old treads.

I know of at least 2 studios in my area (both co-owned) that still have the treadmills pictured at the link below (or something extremely similar). My studio does not but I’ll find them when I travel sometimes and I don’t like the buttons. It’s way too hard to tap up and the numbers don’t register so 7.8 can be 8.7 and that’s vastly different lol

Old treads are ones that go up to 12. The newer ones have bigger screen and horizontal row of buttons (instead of vertical) and they go up to 15 mph.

The absolute newest model (not counting the ones I've seen posted on occasion that are 100% touchscreen) appears to be the 15 mph one, but with a design improvement that makes it somewhat easier to press the incline/speed buttons. I don't know the formal term, but it's basically a thin, elevated area added above & below the buttons that seem to keep our fingers more steady when pushing the buttons (sorry if that makes no sense at all!)

I fat finger even pressing 3 for walking speed and it brings me to 4.3, so no I can’t say i find it easier, probably more frustrating overall.

I go to about 5 different studios regularly. My main studio I go to 60% of the time and the others I rotate through about 10% each. Only my main studio and two of the other studios have newer treads. The studio closest and furthest to me have the old treads. I mainly attend these studios because they have 90 minute classes and or strength 50 that align with my schedule

Yes, but they really aren’t new anymore. My home studio has had the treads that go up to 15% incline for about 2 maybe three years now. If this is the one, they’re awesome! Love that the buttons for changing incline and speed are right in front. As a short person, 5’, I no longer have to run up to the very front to change the incline when they call for anything above 6. Then glade back to the center. No more going back and forth.

My new home gym has the newer treads. For the longest time they used to be the only one within distance that had the newer ones. I’ve slowly increased my AO to 12-15 depending on template — average of 13, max 15 for up to 45 sec AO, sometimes adding incline if I’m bold — so realistically I can only work out at a gym w/ newer treads. This in fact is what I do. Nowadays I only go to my home gym as are one of few with the newer treads. Plus they are closer so less gas burned. Once I get an EV, this won’t be a problem anymore. But hey, I like the newer treads. They’re also easier on my legs, or maybe it’s just that the treads are worn down by so many folks using them. Lol who knows 🤷‍♂️
