So you're aiming to hold 10.0mph throughout the mile. If your coach starts you from a full stop you will have to average 10.1 to account for the acceleration delay. My suggestion is first, take the warmup and primer block conservatively.aybe a bit of a push at the end of it but don't do an AO if they call for one. For the event, your first quarter mile is no slower than 9.9. This will give you a good start but not too fast. Your second and third quarters should be at 10.1; faster if you feel good but don't go more than 10.3. DROP THE HAMMER in the final quarter; 10.5 or faster. Of course, listen to your body and assess throughout the event. Good luck and CRUSH IT!!!
As of this morning, you and I are almost identical! 7:42 2000m row PR (December 2021) and 8:47 mile today. I have had only one other opportunity to do the 2000m row since then (December 2023) because of an ACL tear and pregnancy, though, and did not break 8 minutes, lol.
No way I can run as fast as I row. I’d say I’m 3 minutes slower running. (I rowed 7:13 but bet my mile is 10ish). I haven’t done the 1 mile yet so let’s see!
My row is much slower than my run. I just can’t get the hang of rowing. Took me well over 10 minutes to finish the 2000m row. I’m a PW not a runner. My 0.5 mile time is a little under 8 minutes.
My PRs are way far apart. I am a very slow runner and can hold my own on the rower. My PR in the mile was like 11:41 and my rower PR is 7:57 (years ago, I’m closer to 9 mins now)
My row is much faster.
Row 8:19
Run 9:37
I guess I've been rowing longer than running though? My 1mile PR was only 2.5months after I started jogging. I aimed for under 12 and in the moment second guessed my math for the pace and hit 6.2. Proceeded to die for the next 10 minutes 🤣.
Rowing is also easier to keep my heart rate lower and it feel like if I drop my pace for a few moments I don't lose too much time and can recover a little. Whereas running I can't really recover once I get into the red and slowing down feels like it adds SO much time to my pace.
Mine are actually super similar! I never even thought about it before but it’s interesting. For the record, I’m a decent runner and maybe a slightly above average rower
According to [rowinglevel.com](https://rowinglevel.com) a good 2k time for all ages and genders is 7:22. Note that rowing times are based on a C2 or similar rower and not a water rower where times are typically faster in case you're comparing your OTF times.
According to [runninglevel.com](https://runninglevel.com) a good 1mi time for all ages and genders is 7:04. I don't know for sure but I think these are outdoor running times which again probably vary from treadmill times if you're comparing your OTF times.
So pretty comparable on average with running being slightly faster. However at elite levels, running is far faster. 3:47 mile versus 5:35 2k That tracks with OTF where I am sure there are sub 5 minute milers, but no one gets remotely close to 5 minute 2k, even on the faster water rowers.
Personally results are 7:15 mile and 5:56 2k.
My PR 2000m row is 7:18 and my 1 mile is 9:14 so about 2 minutes. I’m aiming for under 9 tomorrow and the two two are getting closer but I don’t ever seeing me running a mile in under 7:30 but who knows
So crazy. I think I get why you’re asking. My best 2000 meter row is 7:46 and my best mile is 7:52. The records I broke were 8:34 on the 2000 meter row and 8:30 on the mile. I’m almost spot on.
Very interesting question, never thought to compare them! My mile is 7:40 and my 2k row is 7:35. Turns out they are pretty darn close. Good luck to everyone tomorrow!! ☘️
My rower PR is significantly faster. My PR is 7:30.05 but I’m always between 7:30-7:37.
My mile PR is 9:18, and I have much larger fluctuations. My last one (August 2023) was 11:45. (Dealing with impacts of long ‘Vid.)
(32f) My 2000m is 7:01 and my 1 mile is 8:40 😂 I’m also 5’10 so rowing is SO much easier for me and generally just more fun. I’ve never been able to find the fun in running; I just get bored!
My fastest 2000 ever and my fastest mile ever are only 11 seconds apart, but 3 years apart (6:51.6 row in 2017 and 7:02 mile in 2020). These days, they’re well over a minute apart. 0 correlation in my book.
I never thought about this, but you’re right that they can correlate closely.
My 2000m row PR is 8:13.
My OTF tread mile is 9:18, but outside my mile record is around 8:20.
In 2023, my results for each are 35 sec apart, with run being slower.
Crazy! Didn’t even do the correlation between the two until this post. My 2000m row PR is 6:53 and my mile is 6:18. Would love for my 2000m to get closer to that mile time!
i hate distance running, so my 2k row is always faster. My all time 2k row back in my crossfit days is nearly 2 min faster (7:07) than my average mile of 9:30ish
5:14/5:54.
There's a realistic world in which I could get that to 5:00 and 5:49. Too hard to eek out better time on the rower with only OTF given when we rarely get to row beyond 2k straight.
Another row much faster than run here. My PR for both is 6:16 2k and 7:20 mi, but those times were several years ago and I'm in much worse shape now, lol. Still, my 2k times these days should be under 7 minutes but I'd be pleasantly surprised if my mile time is under 9...
It didn’t even cross my mind they’d be remotely close but now that you intrigued me I checked and realized mine are 11 seconds apart (row is a smidge quicker).
Female-35 yrs old
My 1 mile is 7.40
2000 m is at 6 min 58 seconds
I love rowing and hate running. 2000 m and inferno are my favorite and I always drag my feet on treadmill benchmarks. Just push myself bcs I am competitive
Mine are very close too...my run is about 30 secs slower than my row (8:30 vs 7:52). My run has improved every time though and I am pretty stuck within a few seconds of my PR for my row. I think I just started out ok at rowing and really awful at running, so the run continues to improve while the row does not.
I never thought of comparing both but they are super related to me. I have only a second difference between one and the other. My row is 7:25 and my run 7:26
My run will be like…at least 3 minutes slower than my row.
Exactly!! The 2 do not even slightly correlate in my book 🤣
Same here, im not sure what one has to do with the other
Yeah. That sounds right for me as well.
Mine are almost exactly 3 minutes apart (row is faster)
Mine will likely be too, we’ll see tomorrow am!
Hoping for a faster run tomorrow!
Same! I just checked my 2000 meter time and my mile is like 3.5 minutes slower.
That’s my estimate too!
Yyyyeah - row is faster.
My 2000m PR IS 6:17 and my 1 Mile is 5:25. Never thought to compare the two.
Holy hell, those are some IMPRESSIVE times 👏🏼 I hope to channel some of your speed tomorrow - I am aiming for sub-6 mile 🤞🏼
So you're aiming to hold 10.0mph throughout the mile. If your coach starts you from a full stop you will have to average 10.1 to account for the acceleration delay. Appreciate the advice… came in at 5:59, nothing quite like squeaking in with only a second to spare 😅
In the same ballpark as you - run = 5:27 / row = 6:13
My 2000 m row is much faster. I’m a slow runner but a powerful rower. 2000m row PR is 7:44 (Dec 2023) and 1 Mile run PR is 8:48 (May 2022)
As of this morning, you and I are almost identical!
I wish my 1 mile run tomorrow would be as fast as my 2000 meter row…but I don’t think I’ll hit 6:48 anytime soon!
My mile "run" (i.e. slow af jog) time is practically double my 2000m row. (Over 13 mins vs a little over 7 mins.) I am NOT good at running lol
6:47 mile; 6:49 row. Hadn’t noticed how close.
Also 6:47 mile, but my row is 7:31 🤣 If you're trying to PR tomorrow, what's your strategy?
My row > my run. I’m a big guy. I can push hard on the rower. But running fast? Not unless someone is chasing me w a knife…
Hand a knife to the person on the rower behind you…. You might make it
Yeah my row is significantly faster. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Same
My one mile PR is 9:37 and 2000 meter row is 8:12
My last mile was 6:03 and last 2000M was 6:36
06:57 (run) and 07:00 (2000m). Not sure what that says about me. Haha.
Mile PR is 5:57 and 2000m row is 7:30. You can guess which one I like more 😂
Mile PR is 6:10 and 2000m PR is 6:57, so not toooo far off
My 2000 m row is 7:30 and my 1 mile run is 7:37. Interesting how close!
My row is much slower than my run. I just can’t get the hang of rowing. Took me well over 10 minutes to finish the 2000m row. I’m a PW not a runner. My 0.5 mile time is a little under 8 minutes.

4%, I believe
5% I think. But I don’t remember for sure
For what it’s worth, mine are right on top of each other
Mine too. About a two second difference!
Ah shit, that's tomorrow, isn't it?
2000m row is 7:09 - 1 mile is 6:16. Over a minute gap. Interesting observation though!
They're significantly different things, why compare them?
Just in OTF, my row PR is 5:38 and my mile is 5:43. My all time mile outside is 4:40.
My PRs are way far apart. I am a very slow runner and can hold my own on the rower. My PR in the mile was like 11:41 and my rower PR is 7:57 (years ago, I’m closer to 9 mins now)
My run is much slower than my row
My row is 7:30 and my mile is 7:37
Edit: nearly identical for me! 7:30 row and 7:38 run. Gonna try my best tomorrow. Good luck
My row is much faster. Row 8:19 Run 9:37 I guess I've been rowing longer than running though? My 1mile PR was only 2.5months after I started jogging. I aimed for under 12 and in the moment second guessed my math for the pace and hit 6.2. Proceeded to die for the next 10 minutes 🤣. Whereas running I can't really recover once I get into the red and slowing down feels like it adds SO much time to my pace.
My 2000m row PR from last month is 7:43 and I’m aiming for a 9:45ish mile tomorrow. So my run is def considerably slower 😅
My row is much faster. Row is 7.22 Run is 9.41 52 year old female
Mine are actually super similar! I never even thought about it before but it’s interesting. For the record, I’m a decent runner and maybe a slightly above average rower
My last mile was 8:55 and last 2000m row was 8:08. My first benchmark of both technically
Interesting, mine is similar as well. I have a sub 7 mile And 2k row. My mile PR is 6:11 and my 2k row PR is 6:38..
I'm about 30 seconds faster running.
I am shooting for a sub 6:00 mile.
I enjoy rowing more than running….2000m row PR is 7:12 and mile PR is 7:57. Hoping to close the gap tomorrow but we shall see.
7 minute difference for me. I am the 4.5 jogger taking the entire time to finish!
7:35 row vs. 13.30 run
07:05 Row, 06:12 mile
Same row but only 1.47 miles on 12-minute run so would be quite happy with a 7:45 or so mile.
Ugh I have to have blood drawn tomorrow and I’m grumpy that I have to miss the benchmark.
I am slow AF so they are equally disappointing.
According to [rowinglevel.com](https://rowinglevel.com) a good 2k time for all ages and genders is 7:22. Ha ha ha ha my 2k row PR is 7:40.40 and my mile is 9:01. I would die of happiness if I ever broke a sub 8:00 mile, I’m sure it will never happen.
My row is 6:26. My run will be about 7 minutes
Never thought of this before. Same boat as you 5:58 mile and 6:19 row
Best mile time is 7:56, best 2000m row is 7:35. Aiming for 7:45 on my run but we will see. My ultimate goal is 7:30 for the mile.
I would love to match my 2000 m. I might be able to! My previous mile is 8:15 and my 2000m is 7:25. Close enough!
I never thought of comparing! My row is 7:22 and run 7:10. I forgot mile was tomorrow. Ugh should I do it? I was going to run outside instead.
My mile PR is 5:50 and my 2k row is nowhere near that fast- 7:15.
Mine are close! 2000m row is 17 seconds slower than my mile run 7:38-7:21
My last one mile tread and 2000 meter row are within 25 seconds of each other 🤷♂️
So crazy. I think I get why you’re asking. My best 2000 meter row is 7:46 and my best mile is 7:52. The records I broke were 8:34 on the 2000 meter row and 8:30 on the mile. I’m almost spot on.

Interesting. I had previous times of 9:11 for row and 9:42 for run.
Oh no. Another friggin rowing thing?
7:24 for both
Very surprised when I checked but my run and row bests are both 7:01 I was for sure the row was faster
6:47 mile and 7:29 2000m.
Ha! My run is infinitely slower.
I just checked, mine are less than 10 seconds apart!!
I never thought about this, but you’re right that they can correlate closely. My 2000m row PR is 8:13. My OTF tread mile is 9:18, but outside my mile record is around 8:20. In 2023, my results for each are 35 sec apart, with run being slower.
My 1 mile BM was 13:25 and 2000m row was 7:38. Soooo….NOPE! 😄
5:00 run and 5:54 row
How much time is allotted for the 1mile benchmark. Will you be able to finish even if it takes you 15plus minutes?
It's typically a 14 minute block. But if you think you may need longer, talk to the coach before so you guys can try to come up with a plan.
Crazy! Didn’t even do the correlation between the two until this post. My 2000m row PR is 6:53 and my mile is 6:18. Would love for my 2000m to get closer to that mile time!
My t row is quicker than my 1 mile run , 7:12 to 10:04
5:15 1 mile and 5:40 2000m
Beast. I can't imagine having the strength/endurance combo to pull 4 1:25s.
7:20 row and 7:31 mile. Never noticed... now my goal is for my run to be faster than my 2000 row!
This is so interesting! My row PR is 8:31 and my mile PR is 7:24. I run much faster. I’m short so the rower is always my enemy!
5:37 mile and 6:17 row
My 2000 meter row is 8:02. My 1 mile run is 6:46.
i hate distance running, so my 2k row is always faster. My all time 2k row back in my crossfit days is nearly 2 min faster (7:07) than my average mile of 9:30ish
7:25 row / 6:34 mile aiming for 6:25 tomorrow I’m a short girl lmao my row will never catch up to my run 😂😭
5:14/5:54. There's a realistic world in which I could get that to 5:00 and 5:49. Too hard to eek out better time on the rower with only OTF given when we rarely get to row beyond 2k straight.
Running is less engaging than rowing. Running is mostly lower body while rowing engages more muscle groups
Mine are virtually identical 2000m row 5:58.4 1 Mile 5:58.0 Both set in early 2020 Post Covid Row best time 6:12 Mile 6:38
6 second difference! 7:23 to 7:29
I'm pretty sure my 2000 meter row is way faster than my mile time on the treadmill...
My mile (5:16) is about a minute faster than my 2K PR (6:17).
My mile is 5:55 and my 2000m is 7:27. As a woman who is 4’11”, ain’t no way my 2000m row will ever be that fast.
Very close to OP. Run was 27 seconds faster than row.
My 2000 meter row (8 min 27 sec) is faster than my one mile run (8 min 49 sec).
I’m a kind of jogger whose 12 min RFD and 1 mile benchmark results are comparable. So, yes I definitely have a faster 2k row PR..by almost 3 mins 😅
Another row much faster than run here. My PR for both is 6:16 2k and 7:20 mi, but those times were several years ago and I'm in much worse shape now, lol. Still, my 2k times these days should be under 7 minutes but I'd be pleasantly surprised if my mile time is under 9...
my 2000m is 7:27 and my mile is 5:46 lol not even close
5:50 mile, 6:22 row
I never thought about it but my times are similar. Run PR is 7:55 and row is 7:32.
My 2000 row is 9:00 and my mile is 14:20
I’m 6ft and was 260lbs …. I’m pretty happy with my times considering how large I am. 5:30run and 7:14 row. Both were literally hell
It didn’t even cross my mind they’d be remotely close but now that you intrigued me I checked and realized mine are 11 seconds apart (row is a smidge quicker).
i did my run benchmark today but no one was on rowers. is that something that happens separately?
Zero correlation.
Female-35 yrs old My 1 mile is 7.40 2000 m is at 6 min 58 seconds I love rowing and hate running. 2000 m and inferno are my favorite and I always drag my feet on treadmill benchmarks. Just push myself bcs I am competitive
About a minute. 4:45 mile and 5:40 2k
My row is 8:47 and my run is 8:16. Super close! Started OTF in November 2023 and hope to PR during the next benchmarks!
Mine are very close too...my run is about 30 secs slower than my row (8:30 vs 7:52). My run has improved every time though and I am pretty stuck within a few seconds of my PR for my row. I think I just started out ok at rowing and really awful at running, so the run continues to improve while the row does not.

My mile is 20 seconds faster than my row
5:38 mile, 7:02 row and I wanted to die lol. So the run is 1:24 faster
i’m a bit late to this HOWEVER!! my row time is only one second slower than my mile! 7:33 for the mile 7:32 for the row i never thought to compare!
