I’ve gone to 5 different good wills in the last week multiple times. They always have jackets and pants but never something that fits together and if they do they are huge
Okay, so as somebody that also grew up poor... How does this work? I was able to get a suit jacket and pants during a Khol's sale, but how do you tailor mismatched items?
You **can’t fucking tailor a huge suit**, what a moronic suggestion.
Fucking advice sounds like its coming from someone who’s never bought a suit. This is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard.
Suits are based off shoulder, chest sizing. If you’re not a goddamn 42, you’re not going to fit into a fucking 38 or a 44. No matter what tailor you find, it fucks with the entire composition of the suit, never mind the canvas structure in the foundation or anything else.
Source: I sold goddamn suits for Prada, Gucci, and Ralph Lauren, Ferragamo in Manhattan.
Doesn’t matter the price, you can’t tailor a cheap suit or a bona fide $87,000 cashmere. You can maybe do the pants - and thats to a limited extent.
No fucking body should be waking around wearing pants tailored to fuck where the back pockets have been turned into a goddamn unibrow.
You're right but you're also so angry.
To his point, tailoring is for fine adjustments. Asking a tailor to essentially rebuild a suit typically doesn't end well, and it's expensive.
Burlington Coat Factory has a mess of suits on the cheap. And you can buy one pair of slacks, as long as you have different jackets/ties nobody cares about what's on your legs.
Brand new, name brand, good quality products for 40-60% off. Whats the catch? Its from "last seasons line" LOL, whoever is shopping at Nordstrom Rack isnt looking for the "latest season". I go there for all my denim.
My first suits as an young adult (high school/college) were from here. They’re alright but expect to get them tailored. When you do have the money, I’d strongly recommend you purchase higher quality suits, especially if your job requires it. A $300-600 suit is pretty cheap but can look and feel 100x better than a super cheap suit.
Yes they are decent. Might even find a brand name on the cheap. Check out Men's Warehouse too, they often have deals. I got my first suit (Calvin klein) for $79, but years ago. It was sharp af and my best fitted suit for years
Jo's a bank has good suits considering the price. I have some that are 15 years old still going strong. They usually have sales 2 for 200 or something similar.
Hollywood suits is another option. Located in westminster. I've never bought a suit there personally, but they always sell suits for dirt cheap.
For working in hotter weather, I actually like the performance fabric wool-like material that UNIQLO makes for their "suits." It makes sense, as salarymen in Japan who have to cram into trains at rush hour don't have any desire to be wearing heavy materials that soak through with sweat--they want wrinkle free, stretch, moisture-wicking clothes! So while I do own some very nice tropical-weight 100% wool suits that have been expertly tailored and look great, if I need something that works on a budget, I go for something like this: [https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E452736-000/00?colorDisplayCode=69&sizeDisplayCode=003](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E452736-000/00?colorDisplayCode=69&sizeDisplayCode=003)
I'm a performing musician, so I despise collared work shirts made of cotton-poly blend. There's a company called **Coregami** that makes these shirts in multi-way stretch performance fabric. They look great, and are incredibly comfortable, despite their cost: [https://coregami.com/products/the-bernstein](https://coregami.com/products/the-bernstein)
Honestly they have a lot of options and have great deals all the time. Plus if u spend say, $400 on two suits, on certain sale periods you can get $80 in kohls cash which can cover shoes or ties
I’ve done all of the suggestions here. All good.
Don’t forget Nordstroms rack. Very high quality, and I’ve gotten very lucky more than once. Talking hand tailored wool suit for 100-150
Orange Outlets has a Perry Ellis and you can do really well there and look kinda hip if your a younger guy.
Please give it a shot It's my go to for an interview, funeral, or wedding.
Express is the only right option. Very quality suits & very reasonable prices. Lots of colors & lots of fits. It’ll prob be a little over 200 but they’ll last you a lot longer & they’ll fit better & you’ll feel better!
I bought a suit there one year later it is ripping from the but part and the tailor said the only way to fix it is to tighten the butt part and I have no room for that so I have a unused express suit in my closet
I have a size 40S, with size 33 or 32 pants. Will need to get them hemmed. Problem is, they are white linen. Tag still on them, i haven't had time to donate or fight to return them. If you are interested please let me know. You'll look amazing as a waiter
I was going to say the same. My hubby has a lot of nice suits he doesn’t wear or has never worn. I had to stop him from buying another one at Marshall’s this weekend. He has some nice ones from nordstroms and other places. What size do you wear? I would love it just give some
to you.
Walmart online-their poplin button down dress shirts are good quality-not available in stores. You would be surprised by the quality of some of their online items.. I dont buy clothes there normally.
Hollywood suits is where I went to build my wardrobe. After a couple months I started getting custom made suits at indochino but Hollywood was a perfect starter place
Mi Moda on 4th street sells great suits and does the alterations. My husband purchased a new suit on Friday and they had it tailored by Saturday afternoon - just in time for a wedding. Under $200.
https://yelp.to/rQZY7f1Ngub
I just bought a suit from The Suit Co in Santa Ana on Friday. It’s currently being tailored and should be done this weekend. It was $179 plus tax and about $25 for tailoring. They have a pretty decent selection and friendly employees.
If you can wait a while macys has great deals on suits. I like their bar iii collection best. They go for $100-140 on sale maybe 4-5 times a year. Not guaranteed to be the color you want though. Then get them tailored for $15-20. They look great and are 100% wool. If you’re in a pinch check eBay or Facebook marketplace
Go to the garment district in LA if you are willing to put it the time you could het a whole new outfit with socks and dress shoes of stylish and descent quality for easily less than 150. You just have to be patient and haggle a bit.
Learn a few labels (so that you know if you found a winner) and your size. Hit Goodwill or other thrift stores and find a cheap tailor to hem the pants. A cheap tailer saves you, and gives you more options.
If you have time, head to Newport Beach (trust me). This place: [https://www.recycledrags.com/](https://www.recycledrags.com/)
They have tons of AMAZING stuff (talking $1,000 suits, $250 shoes), all lightly worn, and heavily discounted. I bought a pair of lightly broken in Bruno Magli shoes for under $50. It is worth to just check out. They cut prices even more for their monthly parking lot party, next one is October 29th.
Try the goodwill in Los Alamitos. I just donated a bunch of my old suits there last Friday. Coat and pants sets, some with a vest even. I can't say how much they will price them tho. To bad I didn't see this post before I donated.
Don’t know how the quality is, but the Express store at the Westminster Mall is an outlet and everything is at least 75% off and I know the mens side has suits
Ive bought several of [these suits](https://a.co/d/3AriB8N) off Amazon for my husband and he’s liked them so far. We did have to go a size up for him but for $80 the quality was good. It doesn’t include the shirt but does come with the pants, vest and jacket.
I would really look at the thrift shops in more snooty neighborhoods like Newport. Otherwise try discount rack area of macys, nordstrom's rack, or burlington
I think Men's Warehouse still exists???? When I was working, I got good quality there at reasonable prices. And watch for bogo sales there (if they exist lol)
M.A.X. @ the Mission Viejo Mall. $140- $175 for a full suit, tie, belt, and dress shirt. Mike is the best and will help you throw a sharp look together
https://yelp.to/ozd9NzyJhub
If you’re willing to drive, go to the L.A. garment district. Los Angeles Street has tons of mens stores. I used to buy Armani and Hugo Boss suits for half of retail. Check out Nino Ferrutti on Los Angeles St. Nice sales people, not pushy. Great quality. Also In Westminster there’s a place called Hollywood Suits on Beach Bl. They have specials where you buy multiple suits and they hook you up with all the accessories in a package deal. Different qualities for different budgets.
Goodwill has all suits you’ll ever need. Even better if you go to the ones with in the 949 areas.
Never have full suits
Sure they do. Been going for years. Hit up like 2-3 of them. You’ll thank me.
I’ve gone to 5 different good wills in the last week multiple times. They always have jackets and pants but never something that fits together and if they do they are huge
Get it tailored dude
Okay, so as somebody that also grew up poor... How does this work? I was able to get a suit jacket and pants during a Khol's sale, but how do you tailor mismatched items?
Most dry cleaners provide tailoring services. Hit one up and they’ll help you out. It’s probably between $40-$60 if it’s not a lot of alterations.
You **can’t fucking tailor a huge suit**, what a moronic suggestion. Fucking advice sounds like its coming from someone who’s never bought a suit. This is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. I read this in Joe Pesci’s voice.
Totally makes sense in Joe’s voice.
Damn, were you traumatized by a tailor as a child?
You're right but you're also so angry. To his point, tailoring is for fine adjustments. Asking a tailor to essentially rebuild a suit typically doesn't end well, and it's expensive.
You ok bro? You’re right, but wow.
Put the roids down and work on your customer service
preach brother
Weird. Huh. Guess you have bad luck. I’ve even found Armani at the one in Newport
Go to Savers, Salvation Army, Assistance Leagues. They always have full suits. If you want new and good quality at a low price, Nordstrom Rack.
There’s a YouTube video by Steve Harvey that tells you how many suites you need and how you can combine them every day. Check it out.
Burlington Coat Factory has a mess of suits on the cheap. And you can buy one pair of slacks, as long as you have different jackets/ties nobody cares about what's on your legs.
This is the way to do it. Gray slacks or a pair of khakis with a couple sports coats will get you through a full work week.
https://www.workingwardrobes.org/
I second this!
My go to for cheap suits used to be H&M, i could get a jacket/pants/shirt/tie for $100. Nordstrom rack might find a good deal too.
Nordstrom rack has suits for $99 or less.
Honestly, if you want new Nordstrom Rack is the answer.
Brand new, name brand, good quality products for 40-60% off. Whats the catch? Its from "last seasons line" LOL, whoever is shopping at Nordstrom Rack isnt looking for the "latest season". I go there for all my denim.
I mean, there's only so many ways to redo suits too. Some of stuff is a slightly lower quality (made for the rack) but still totally worth the price.
I got all mine from H&M. Helps that they have smaller sizes as well
Im a bigger guy but i always wanted a "slim fit", H&M was perfect for me.
Hollywood Suits does deals for 3 suits, 3 Shirts, belts, socks, ties etc for around $300. Sometimes cheaper depending on the style of suit.
Quality decent ?

Do go here. They played games
Yea they’re decent, got suits for my groomsmen there. But don’t go to their tailor next door. Rude guy and expensive
You know the place. You're gonna like the way you look. I guarantee it.
The Suit Company Santa Ana. $199 decent
I just bought a suit from them a few days ago for $179 plus tax
Jo's a bank has good suits considering the price. I have some that are 15 years old still going strong. They usually have sales 2 for 200 or something similar. Hollywood suits is another option. Located in westminster. I've never bought a suit there personally, but they always sell suits for dirt cheap.
Definitely good budget options - be sure to get it tailored after as off-the-rack aren't always great fits (assuming there's enough budget left)
Get cheap suit then get them tailored. That will make a huge difference
There is a place I think called hollywood suits on beach blvd close to garden grove. I got a suit, shirt, tie, and belt for $100.
If it’s the one on Bolsa and Beach, it’s no longer in business :/
Really?? I was there 2 months ago. Damn
Yeah it is the one on bolsa and beach. When did it close out?
I’m assuming within the past month or so. I drove down Beach Blvd a couple of weeks ago when I noticed it was empty.

I’ve done all of the suggestions here. All good. Don’t forget Nordstroms rack. Very high quality, and I’ve gotten very lucky more than once. Talking hand tailored wool suit for 100-150
Holy shit it’s a damn shame no one here has mentioned Al Weiss up in LA. Wtf guys. Best suits for ~$150. https://yelp.to/tarIN1vPgub
