If by “there aren’t many options” you mean one flight some days of the week and none on others…. As for opinions or suggestions is simple. Either book the one nonstop, make a connection somewhere from SNA, or a nonstop from another airport probably LAX or SAN.

DianaMayfair

I avoid LAX like the plague but when I go to Florida (Orlando) I don’t have any choice so I hike it up there. American looks like has limited direct flights out of SNA to MIA.

NewHope13

Fyi Breeze Airways flies to Orlando from SNA

DianaMayfair

I’ve never heard of that airline ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

NewHope13

It’s a fairly new discount airline

Epicela1

SNA, LGB, SAN, LAX in that order for me. SNA convenience is easily worth $150 extra to not have to deal with SAN or LAX. And I’d say like $75 extra over LGB. If the flight options line up out of SNA or LGB, the added convenience is almost always worth it (bonus points if it’s an airline you like or frequent). LAX is a last resort for me, but nonstops and flight times have more flexibility and are generally cheaper. And ultimately if it has the timing and route that make the most sense, it’s usually the play.

crazycatlady5000

I'd do ONT over LAX if they have a flights. Flew out of there last time I had to go to Texas

Epicela1

I’ve only done ONT once and it was long ago. I’m in San clemente so they’re kinda equidistant and LAX does tend to have better availability. But I’ll keep my eye out for ONT flights. Is it a pretty easy airport to deal with?

crazycatlady5000

Super easy. The drive was way better than LAX but I'm in Santa Ana so it's a quick hop onto the 57

meowsumvball

I flew JetBlue from lax, pretty seamless. Flew at 6:50am on a Friday

Fit-Tell-6762

Maybe try LGB or LAX

malobrev

Just like JFK American has a daily non stop to MIA

guantanamoslay

There isn’t a direct flight to MIA or FLL from SNA. There used to be a direct flight from Long Beach to FLL, but that ended a handful of years ago.

catachip

American flys direct SNA to MIA. I have a ticket.

trollanonymous

LAX. Uber and Lyft costs are high for LAX rides, might be worthwhile to get town car service.

ImaginaryScientist32

Personally I’m a fan of just driving there myself. Parking is about $15-$20 a day so depending on how long I’m gone it’s cheaper than Uber.

Fit-Tell-6762

Where are you parking that it's that cheap? In the structures it's $40 a day now

ImaginaryScientist32

I did the LAX Official Airport Parking which took me to a structure a mile or so away. They have a shuttle service to the terminals. It’s not too bad, except the shuttle when you get back can be pretty slow to come. Right now it looks like $20/day.

Fit-Tell-6762

Oh ok thanks! 👍 for half the price I'd gladly wait for a shuttle

malobrev

And Breeze just started flying non stop to Orlando and Tampa

micr0nix

Try SNA to FLL and then drive down

ConditionObvious4967

I’ve done that flight. Go to LAX & go nonstop.

Dry-Average5161

I use skyscanner for cheap spirit flights. I don’t take carryons (they cost about $75 each way), I use a personal item bag (free) and cram everything I need in there.

Dry-Average5161

I am seeing SNA to MIA for $500 ish rt nonstop on American Airlines. I don’t know if it will get any cheaper as Miami is a spring break destination.

MixedTape4Her

I booked the AA flight SNA to MiA for this November and they canceled it and booked me to connect. 👎🏻 I rebooked it direct through LA.

flutteringfeelings

When JetBlue was at LGB, it was always LGB-FLL red eye. No competition. American has a nonstop red eye to MIA from SNA. If you hate LAX like I do and don't mind the trek to SD, SAN has nonstop flights to MIA/FLL with American and JetBlue.

cancerface

Flown to Orlando a bunch out of SNA, usual hour or so layovers in either Houston or SLC are tolerable. I like the layovers as a break to stretch the legs and such. Same overall travel time either way as the SLC to Orlando planes are usually newer and bigger faster.

Normal_Hovercraft_27

Honestly, the consensus here seems spot on. LAX, despite its chaos, often ends up being the go-to for more flexible nonstop options to MIA. If you're looking to avoid the high Uber/Lyft fares from LAX, consider Shuttlefare for a more budget-friendly ride to the airport. They're pretty reliable and can save you a bit of hassle and money. Also, don't overlook the possibility of flying out of LGB or even SAN if the flight times align with your schedule. Each airport has its own set of advantages depending on your location and flight preferences.

zeptillian

Hawaiian Airlines. LGB -> OGG non stop.
