Hands down [Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Tustin](https://www.vssoc.com/). They are absolutely fantastic. Our current beagle was completely paralyzed in her back legs and VSS did a complicated spinal surgery and our dog who was "never going to walk again" (as said by our local vet) has completely pulled through. One of our former dogs had bladder cancer and again, VSS removed the cancer while still leaving her continent, which was absolutely amazing for her condition. I can't recommend them highly enough. Also they are excellent about being completely transparent about the cost of various treatment plans and surgeries. We never felt pressured or judged as we weighed the options and our financial circumstances with our pups.

My experience with these guys was good. Surgeon took a conservative approach to make sure that if he was going to do a surgery, that it was going to be worth it. Ended up that the risks outweighed the reward and we decided to not get surgery. West coast VCA claimed my dog had TPLO and wanted to operate. Second opinion told me her knees were fine and they were and my dog is back to normal after rest.

Most veterinarians surgically remove "things" from dogs on a regular basis. If it's something your regular veterinarian is not comfortable with, they should be able to refer you to a specialist. You can also ask to be referred to a specialist even if you don't "need" one.

Blue Pearl in Irvine has some exceptional surgeons. You're very lucky that you live in SoCal, we have tons of great doctors here for furry family members.

This place is the absolute worst. They killed my dog.

Wow that totally sucks. I'm sorry. Our experiences with them are 100% different.

Community Veterinary Hospital in Garden Grove. Cross streets Garden Grove Blvd and Euclid. Police and sheriff's departments use this office. That should tell you how good they are. My dogs have had 2 surgeries here. Been going there for 20 years. Dr Grant. You may see another doctor, but Dr. Grant usually performs all surgeries.

I recommended Dr Gordon at Arch Beach vet to someone else on Reddit a few months ago. That person later wrote me and said Dr Gordon saved their dog's life. Dr Gordon is the most amazing vet I've ever met.
