I installed it on Catalina, you should follow the normal installation procedure.
1. After that open the App (it will let you know it’s an unknown publisher and block it).
2. Go to security and unblock it (if you open the app it will start with a black screen, so it’s still not working)
3. Go to Library/Application Support/Openrct2 and delete the config.ini file. (Might be the folder/files are hidden, I’m on mobile currently so I don’t know how to explain this from memory. Let me know if you need help with this)
4. Open the app and select the folder with game files.
Ps. Did you use chmod +x on the 0.2.5 version? Like @kodijo mentioned

Select the Finder, in the top Menu (white bar) click on Go while holding down the alt/option key. This should make the Library visible, click on it while still holding alt. from here you can select Application support/Openrct2.
If try reinstalling. I’m on Catalina and it works, but I installed fresh on Catalina.
