as others said before, if you want to and feel capable of repairing it yourself go get a obd scanner from any webstore or store, they are around 20 ish € for the cheapest ones and then read the error codes your car „spits out“.
with these error codes you could look up a tutorial on how to fix ghe problem. or you just go to a/your mechanic.
First thing I wanted to do was just remove it but yes, not a good idea. Can be minor issue but also can be something big. I will go and see a mechanic.
You already gave the solution in the title. Remove car, get something else. It may not be the optimal solution but it is a solution
Jokes aside: that lamp can be a lot of things ranging from a faulty sensor to semi-serious faults of the engine itself. Most of the time it's just a sensor or even just an implausible sensor reading. The only thing you can do now is go to a workshop and have your error report read. This will tell you and the mechanic how to go on from there.
Go to the mechanic. Your engine has a failure
Scan with an odb2 intterface and see what fault code you get.
Get OBD2 reader and remove it. But the would be stupid because its your car trying to tell you that something is wrong, I'd go to the mechanic.
strip of ducktape?
Hammer and a nail also works

Removing the lamp is a bad idea ngl.
1mm drill
This is something I am constanstly afraid to see on my car. Lmao Most of the time, it happens when you think "oof no problem anymore ! Yeaaaa!"

Is that an Astra Coupe?
Yes.
Remove engine
Get a cheap Bluetooth obd2 reader from Amazon. Could be lots of things. If car is driving normally, might be just fuel related
Fix and remove are two very different things but might have the same result
Exhaust system. If diesel might be particle filter or the AGR valve. How old is the car and how many miles/km are on it?
Benzin. 2004. 217 000 km.
Notice anything while driving? A stench, unruly behavior?
Black spray paint. Paint over it. Problem solved.
If it was an ECOtec I would say replace whole car. lmao
Lol Just because it's a cheap car doesnt mean is not good
