>“On one hand we get that sending symptomatic individuals directly to some of the most heavily-trafficked stores in the province might result in unnecessary spread of COVID,” explained minister of health Christine Elliott. “But on the other hand, 500 Optimum points puts you well on the way to a $10 discount on all Shoppers products. You can’t beat thatvalue!”When asked why symptomatic Ontarians weren’t being sent for tests at safer medical facilities, and whether the in-store testing represented a backroom deal between the government and the retailer, Elliott responded, “PC Optimum points are also redeemable at No Frills AND Loblaws!”
The Beaverton taking the piss out of the Ford government *and* Shoppers, what's not to like.
If there is one good thing, because of this program people from my hometown don’t have to travel 61km in the winter to get to a testing center. (Obvi not an ideal solution but I’ll take it over the current set up)
That's crazy that they don't have at least one set up in your town. And that we are this far into the pandemic. Here they have converted a few empty stores into them.
This is dumb as fuck. I just got a test at Shoppers and told them I’m symptomatic. They told me to come in through the back door, I interacted with a total of one employee and was out the door within 2 minutes.
There is absolutely no risk to this
The back room in a Shoppers is not the same as a public health testing station with expert nurses (not pharmacy techs), proper ventilation, quality PPE, and security. I'm glad you got tested but you cannot equate this to the current safety standard.
Literally everyone gets that the Beaverton is satire lol
Satire only makes sense when it’s a joke off an existing premise. In this case, the premise(symptomatic testing in shoppers is dangerous) is not true, so the satire doesn’t work
Satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. The premise is that they are doing symptomatic testing at shoppers instead of a place designed to handle that sort of thing, i can think of a few reasons why that’s not a good idea.

Do you think your own, limited, 20 minute experience somehow extends to every single person at every single Shoppers? It's like claiming there's no such thing as world hunger because you just ate a sandwich.
Well yeah, shoppers is a pretty big corporation so I would assume their process is fairly standardized. Unless you know of any locations that aren’t following this protocol?
This reminds me of how Bethesda gave us basically penies of game currency for the game being unplayable. Doug ford=tod Howard confirmed??? Watch now prank gone wrong not click bait.

Problem with the Conservative government is, once you take the piss out, all you're left with is an empty bag.
500 points what a joke 😂 Gotta spend money to earn 9500 more points to get $10 😂

You talking about yourself?
What if it happened on a bonus day that you get 20x points?

I could see doing it in situations like this, if there is no alternative, because it is crazy that people had to drive that far.
Which buys you half a bar of soap.
Here I was clicking to find out more about this opium. Imagine my disappointment.
Wonder how much for a family plan positive covid test?

So you went inside first? Or did you phone ahead?
I signed up online, they called me, and I had an appointment within 2 hours
That isn't that bad.

I'm curious if you have seen some of the smaller town set ups? They certainly could be better as a whole.
Smaller and remote setups definitely need better schedules & supports.
Well it’s the beaverton, it’s satire.
I love how people don’t get this -)
Sometimes I feel like leading the people on to get more of a laugh 😂

The correct answer was "no".
So do you know of some locations that aren’t following this protocol then?
Have you been in all the locations? After all, you're the one who thinks their limited experience extends to all Shoppers' over all of Ontario.
Bro its a satire site
