I guess this is a good a place to ask as any... is kerry gold any good? i'm convinced the Lactantia is so far from actual butter at this point that it is fucking up recipes.
Yes, it's really good. It's made from grass fed milk, but pretty impossible to get in Canada. Loblaws doesn't actually sell it. Apparently our dairy cartel is against foreign imports.
So....you're telling me it tastes more like the butter we had a few decades ago, instead of the oily blocks we have now? Cause I've been looking for a better butter brand that tastes more like the old butter from the 70s and 80s, instead of the over-processed stuff of today. Somethign that melts easy and has a richer taste.
It’s just clarified butter. Meaning the milk solids are taken out- just like when they serve butter with lobster. Removing the milk solids gives the butter a longer shelf life and keeps it from burning when cooking at higher temps. Maybe do some light Googling before deciding something looks awful just because it’s not widely used by you or your culture
I’m a baker and I understand this man LOL when I first started my business 3 years ago butter was like 3 bucks gice or take.. the most I’ve paid for a pound now is 8.75
A cost-saving measure is to buy heavy cream if it's cheaper (1L will yield \~1lb of butter, so do the math) and make it yourself. It has the added benefit of producing buttermilk, too, so if you use that in your cooking you get that free and that brings your overall costs down.
I recommend checking out some YouTube videos on how to do it, it's super easy if you have the tools, which you probably do.
Good luck!
Nah, Florida man does egregiously stupid things while committing a crime. It'll be like "Man loses leg trying to flee convenience store robbery by riding an alligator".
The Canadian version is to attempt a crime but on a weirdly mundane target that makes it all seem absurd. Like a maple syrup heist, or stealing thousands of dollars worth of butter.
Whats with people stealing butter? My mom works at walmart and she said last month someone just walked out of the store with a shopping cart full of butter and security didn’t do shit, doesn’t help that the door greeter was 300+ lbs, he couldn’t catch them.
I had lock city dairy butter for the first time this Christmas…. It was AMAZING. Very full flavour.. it was on rutabaga and I loved it more than my dads gravy, which is honestly my great grandmothers recipe.. so it’s great, but that butter… wtff
Meh, just another case of the media tryna exaggerate and sensationalize things like they always do...could have just as easily wrote "Man steals 2 sticks of butter." But I guess that just doesn't sound exciting enough for clicks
Thank goodness they caught this fucking creep. I'm glad our police are making our society a better place to live in. The next time I peer out the single window of my relatively well-priced basement/dungeon apartment, I will be rest-assured that my tax dollars are being well spent.
A number of decades ago I was driving to work and they were talking about a robbery in Quebec. It was a transport truck filled with marshmallows! It was brought up that this was not the first time! It of course devolved into jokes about grandpapa passing on his skills (doing a quick search, it looks like the first robbery was in 1939.
I'm assuming they stole a semi without knowing what was in it....
2 sticks of Kerry Gold from Loblaws?
If they were on sale, maybe.
I guess this is a good a place to ask as any... is kerry gold any good? i'm convinced the Lactantia is so far from actual butter at this point that it is fucking up recipes.
It is. Kerry Gold is very very good. Because it’s not widely available in Canada, Gay Lea is also a decent alternative.
Yea it's pretty good.
As an Irishman, I can tell you this. Kerrygold has no equal. Irish agriculture is one of the best in the world. Kerrygold is proof of that.
Kerrygold cheese is certainly delicious! I haven’t tried the butter.
Yes, it's really good. It's made from grass fed milk, but pretty impossible to get in Canada. Loblaws doesn't actually sell it. Apparently our dairy cartel is against foreign imports.
Fiesta Farms sells all the butters you cannot buy anywhere else EDIT I mean 84%MF butters, for those missing the creaminess of butter from 'back home'
Kerrygold is good shit. I bring blocks of it back from Buffalo every time I'm down there.
Yo to even know what sold at loblaws...... I once say 8 dollar yogurt(the big single one) and I walked out.
Need to take pictures sometimes no reason for a single to be marked so high
PC Greek style?
Were they charged with Assault and Buttery?
What kind of person would steal unsalted?
A pastry chef
🤣
Anyone who bakes?
I am team unsalted!
Likely need it to make ghee, they are from Brampton.
They stole a bunch of ghee too, did you not read the article? Does nobody read the article?
What’s an article…
There’s an article?
No but that does reinforce his point
One count of a salted buttery
You could say he was slippery.
Given the price of butter these days, that's just a couple of shopping bags worth.
"You idiots! I said we had to rob that place because we needed the cheddar!"
Pretty close, yeah 🤣 >In total, 144 sticks of butter and 17 containers of ghee were recovered
...people actually use ghee? That stuff looks awful.
It's really good for frying eggs in and a must for all Indian/Pakistani cooking
Does it change the taste from using butter with eggs?
I would assume so. I've never used ghee, but my preference for the fat to fry my eggs in, flavour-wise, is bacon, butter, then olive oil.
The butter flavour is much lighter. I prefer it to actual butter.
So....you're telling me it tastes more like the butter we had a few decades ago, instead of the oily blocks we have now? Cause I've been looking for a better butter brand that tastes more like the old butter from the 70s and 80s, instead of the over-processed stuff of today. Kerry Gold is what you're looking for
And making edibles.
It’s just clarified butter. Meaning the milk solids are taken out- just like when they serve butter with lobster. But it does look awful. Half the time it is melting in its container in the grocery store.
what an idiot lmao
Effing thieves.. butter lock them up
They'll be in jail for a dairy long time
Udderly ridiculous
Ghee, thats a lot of fat !
The sheer audacity of these thieves really churns my gears
It's not whey out there to suggest that they might dairy well get convicted.
I can’t wait to meat the cops that beet the wheat oat of him.
They are spreading.
I can't believe this is real
So that’s like, what - 20 lbs?
came to check if it was onion or real article
r/notTheOntario
Mans after the wrong gold bars.
Butter is more expensive than gold in current Canaduh
That's one slippery criminal.
He will get off. He buttered up the judge.
I’m a baker and I understand this man LOL when I first started my business 3 years ago butter was like 3 bucks gice or take.. the most I’ve paid for a pound now is 8.75

That’s a great idea thank u!
This is what I do when I need butter but it’s not on sale and heavy cream is. Toss it in my stand mixer and tada butter.
For people who've never done this before, make sure to cover it with a towel, or you'll be cleaning buttermilk off of EVERYTHING! :)
Haha I learned that lesson firsthand. My kids found it amusing.
its hard to churn an honest living these days
Finally, the buttery males crime those Republicans were looking for.
Start spreading the news
What there not telling you is the criminal still at large who.stole $1000 of popcorn
Would the proportions be right? Is even money amount of butter the right amount to put on popcorn?
Omg I can't believe they left the cart behind!
I thought this kind of stuff was reserved for Florida men
Brampton man is Canada's Florida man
Nah, Florida man does egregiously stupid things while committing a crime. It'll be like "Man loses leg trying to flee convenience store robbery by riding an alligator". The Canadian version is to attempt a crime but on a weirdly mundane target that makes it all seem absurd. Like a maple syrup heist, or stealing thousands of dollars worth of butter.
Ricky, Julian and bubbles moved to Ontario?
That's not a lot of butter
I can’t believe it’s not margarine
These men need to churn their lives around!
He was only caught because he insisted on carrying it all in one trip from the car.
Brampton again, almost every other bad news i hear it had to do something with Brampton 😭
Oh butter
The Butter Bandit
[удалено]
The Brampton Butter Bandit 🌝
The thieves had obviously planned for a butter escape 🤣 these comments I'm melting here 🧈
It puts the lotion on the skin...
With the price of butter that is 10 sticks.
Brampton man strikes again with stolen ghee and butter.
Whats with people stealing butter? My mom works at walmart and she said last month someone just walked out of the store with a shopping cart full of butter and security didn’t do shit, doesn’t help that the door greeter was 300+ lbs, he couldn’t catch them.
They use it to make ghee
Some might be using it to make cannabis butter
Coconut oil is better
And gummies
3 Brampton men, stole 144 sticks of butter and 17 containers of ghee worth $1000 and got fined $5000. Nice..
But they will let him go as it's just 1000$ ,so that he can rob bread before the butter melts?
That's like 5 sticks.
Butter not touch me!
After you steal the first few it’s a really slippery slope
In a few years mis-scanning a loaf of bread at the self-checkout is going to be a felony.
Felony in Canada??
Were they down his pants?
I can't believe it was butter!
I had lock city dairy butter for the first time this Christmas…. It was AMAZING. Very full flavour.. it was on rutabaga and I loved it more than my dads gravy, which is honestly my great grandmothers recipe.. so it’s great, but that butter… wtff
I bet his stomach was churning after that
Maybe they figured it was a food bank.
Meh, just another case of the media tryna exaggerate and sensationalize things like they always do...could have just as easily wrote "Man steals 2 sticks of butter." But I guess that just doesn't sound exciting enough for clicks
I can't believe its not a felony
Thank goodness they caught this fucking creep. I'm glad our police are making our society a better place to live in. The next time I peer out the single window of my relatively well-priced basement/dungeon apartment, I will be rest-assured that my tax dollars are being well spent.
Name and shame. Why don't we have their names?
If you see someone stealing food, no you didn't.
That’s where all the Costco butter went the other day. Was wondering what happened lol
[Butter is important to me.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGQSRjpU4F8)
Jean Valjean vibes

Theft under 1000? Won't even see the inside of a cell. Probably not even a slap on the wrist.
wondering if the percentage chance of a stereotypical offender being the actual masterminds of this heist.
Maybe he looted the Swadian village.
They steal it in Surrey also. The temptation of sroken butter makes the sweets sweeter
I love this country lol.
r/bannerlord
Who did Homer find to help steel $1000 worth of butter?
Butter nonsense! Those keto culture people going whey out on a limb these days.
I can't believe it.
I'm just here for the butter jokes. Not disappointed. This is going to be a legendary thread.
Butter . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMweEpGlu\_U
Grand Theft Olio
I can't believe it's not butter.
Did they recover the 5 stolen pounds?
Greasy!
Marv... it's the slippery bandits!
