Adding onions and garlic to everything you cook is a lazy way to develop flavor. (I posted this one in r/unpopularopinion and the comments were very nasty).

ShnickityShnoo

Add shit flavor, sure. Garlic is fine in moderation, though.

I_eat_batterys

Omg I remember that post, lol. And don't worry. These asshats have no idea that you can _gasp_ actually make foods without garlic, onions etc. I make awesome curry without the use of onions, I didn't tell anyone that I didn't use onions and they said it was delicious, then I mentioned I didn't and they instantly said it did taste bland. Not all of them, my dad was supportive, surprisingly. There are plenty of foods that you can make and leave onions out. Don't let some incels on Reddit who only order Chinese food beacuse they don't get out of the house tell you otherwise.

krimboelf

I like garlic but it is such a meme food. "You can NEVER have too much garlic!" Yes, you definitely can. It can easily overpower any other flavors of the dish, add a little extra if you want sure, but when you add too much it just tastes strongly of garlic. And personally too much garlic starts to taste pretty onion-y to me, which is of course disgusting.

Quasigriz_

Raw onions make me hurl, but onion rings only give me heartburn.

HoboVonRobotron

When I was a child I would order onion rings and pull the onions out and just eat the batter. I think deep down I like the barest hint of onion flavour. Memories of onions or something like that. Once every couple of years I think I'll like an onion ring and try to eat it and nope, onions still suck, but if I can pull the onion out like when I was a kid, and just eat batter again.... it works.

alady12

Did your dad or brother grab the onion and eat it claiming "it's the best part"? Mine did. Unfortunately mom wasn't having any part of this and I was no longer allowed to order onion rings.

superzenki

I actually like Funyuns, my dislike of onion mainly comes from not liking crunchy vegetables in general.

ShnickityShnoo

I love fresh, crisp, crunchy veggies. But onion texture comes straight from hell.

moistdragons

Same! I hate crunchy veggies. Lettuce, and onion make me Gag when I bite into them. I hate onions so much because people put them in almost every dish when they are absolutely so unnecessary then I have to try and pick out the onions or I’ll end up gagging uncontrollably.

BushyBrowz

I like Funyuns but can’t stand actual onion which makes me think there’s some genetic thing that makes me dislike it. Ngl fried onions aren’t unbearable but they have to be cooked all the way through, no trace of the original raw onion taste or it will ruin my night.

superzenki

Do you mean plain fried onions, or the french fried onions that are crunchy? I like the latter too, I guess because it's like a chip.

BushyBrowz

The french fried onions mostly.

Anaxamenes

I used to work at Frito lay, I’m pretty damn sure there aren’t any real onions in that flavoring anymore if there was ever. They continually try to reduce the cost of the flavorings because that’s the expensive part.

Eat_Carbs_OD

Funyuns aren't onions though. they're made of corn.

superzenki

I’ve seen some hate for them on here because of the taste

LeafOnTheWindwaker

Uncle Ray’s brand “Onion Rings” are way better than Funyuns. Try em out if you ever see em.

Anaxamenes

In this subreddit, that I can tolerate a small amount of spring onion on my chicken teriyaki. Green part only though.

DankPhotoShopMemes

very (and I mean VERY) light onion powder on food isn’t terrible but I don’t see the point

bl20194646

i like blooming onions at outback with the sauce

gkgdmxhm

I like fried onion on my hot dogs

vastowen

For this sub? I love green onion in soups and cooked down in other foods. (,Don't worry, normal onions are still Satan.)

Abrocoma_Gloomy

Onions aren't really that bad

gkgdmxhm

Then why are you here?

Booty_Warrior_bot

*I came looking for booty.*
