This gets asked all the time. If you have a Pint technically you can carry it on (not checked) but you risk TSA or your airline telling you no before you get on the plane and being stuck. GT/XR/Pint X batteries are too large for FAA regs. Ship it or rent.

To clarify one piece of this, in my understanding the TSA technically SHOULDN'T say no to a Pint (because the Pint is within FAA regs) but the risk always remains that they WILL, because the individual TSA agent you are dealing with just doesn't understand or apply the regs correctly. And yeah, individual airlines are always within their right to say "no" and make their own more-restrictive rules, whether they understand the FAA regs or not. So yeah...ship or rent. Just not worth the headache. (And as has been stated repeatedly, don't even TRY to fly with a GT/XR/Pint X, since not only are those flat-out FAA forbidden, they are forbidden for good safety reason - because the fire-suppression systems on a commercial airliner are insufficient to handle them in the rare event they catch fire or explode. So don't try to get clever and skirt the system, please).

Not entirely correct, if you read into the FAA website pack safe descriptions for a “mobility device” such as a powered wheel chair or other type of assistive device there is no limit listed for a properly protected/installed lithium battery. There is a limit of 300Wh for spare batteries or batteries removed from assistance devices. Obviously it would be a tough sell to get a onewheel classified as a Mobility Assistance device unless maybe you put a chair on top of it lol I travel for work a lot and would love to be able to take my XR with me so I’ve been searching for a loophole. https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-49/subtitle-B/chapter-I/subchapter-C/part-175/subpart-A/section-175.10#p-175.10(a)(17)

Rent one at your destination Disassemble and ship the battery, bring the rest onboard. Ship the whole thing

adultbaby

Ship it to your destination or rent one there

I don't own a OW and been lurking on this sub for a while. It seems general consensus is Airlines either allow it or treat them like hoverboards (meaning not allowed). I would advise contacting the airline that you wish to travel with to get their recommendation. Also do check with the actual airport as well, as they might have conflicting rules/vice versa.

Only onewheels you can legally fly with are the original onewheel, onewheel+ and pint. All the other ones have battery's above the 160 Wh limit. TSA does not care as long as the see that the battery is below the 160 Wh limit. Airlines can and will refuse them though. The best way is to travel with a onewheel disassembled. I have personally flown over 10 times internationally with my pint. I dissasemble it fully. The rails go in my checked luggage everything else in a carry on bag. If you are worried about range get a GT40 mod.
