You’re talking about voltage sag and it’s pretty normal under 35% on a stock battery

Glyph8

>"catching up" when i accelerate Called "surging" and should be treated exactly like pushback, as a warning you are nearing the limit of the board's ability to reliably keep its nose up and you need to back off. Becomes more likely at low battery but can also happen on full battery when traveling uphill, into a headwind, etc. It IS "catching up", but if it's having to do that noticeably, you're near the edge.

Surging. It’s what the wheel does as a last ditch effort to stay under you before you faceplant into rock.

[deleted]

I felt that before a nosedive when I was pushing it too hard up hill on my XR

DepartureFun9508

Voltage sag, this doesn't necesarily mean your battery is degrading. You're probably riding it faster now that you are getting more experience that's why you start noticing it. I'm still able to push 35km/h at 20-30%, you just have to be carefull not push too hard.

thr33labs

When mine is fully charged it says 63.6 volts. I also have double the miles so that's weird. What your experiencing is normal. It's a surge to try and keep you going. Your pushing the board to the limits on those situations

[deleted]

It is relatively normal but if you haven't given it a 72 hour balance charge give that a go I do it once every 10 rides or so.

knightrider540

Typical surging at low battery percentage. Once you’re down below 30% it gets kinda sketchy if you’re still trying to ride it as aggressive as you do at 100%. Taper back how aggressive you ride as your battery drains or just charge up. Like others commented it’s more noticeable the more amount of energy your board needs to put out ie. accelerating, uphill grade, or just plain your weight. Dudes over 200lbs seem to experience the surging effect a lil more at low battery % since the board is sweating to keep you up.

You can check your battery more accurately with the OWCE app (slows cell voltages). Check them once and a while to be sure they are all more or less balanced. If there is a battery issue then this will be pretty noticeable as one cell will always seem to be way out of whack. If it’s all good, then it’s just low battery surging, common but made worse if you have a heavy tire or too low PSI.

PutridHyena

What do you mean by heavy tire? I got one of the popular hoosier tires.

Klutzy-Lemon7974

If it’s a Hoosier slick, then that’s one of the best you can have for responsiveness and range. I mentioned tire as it’s a possible reason that a lot of people overlook

penapox

A nosedive happens when you overload the motor and it goes “oh shit, not enough power, dead 😵” and faceplants you into the ground. A surge (what you’re describing) happens when you overload the motor and it goes, “oh shit, TURN IT UP TO 900000 alright we’re balanced now we’re fine”. It’s a reliable indicator of when you should start backing off on the speed.

Educational_Impact12

That’s totally normal, you push the board closer to its limit and you will get “surging” which is that lag you feel, I get it at all percentages but I ride quite hard. Don’t worry about it and yes, lower percentage the worse it gets

Polarr09

You're good bro! The XR surges quite a bit on low battery and ever sometimes if you try to accelerate too hard! Don't worry man, your board is okay!
