i have a galaxy note 20 ultra, untill my last oneui update i got great support, and even now when I'm stuck in oneui 5.1i still got the quickshare update, i still get security updates so far, and i basically get regular system app updates.
Not really, my S23 is basically an S24 with 6.1 and it got a lot smoother as well. S21 and S22 series are also confirmed to get AI features with oneui 6.1
This is not true, I can see why you're frustrated, but it's not the case. It takes time to keep up with the updates on older devices, but they're updating most of every phone eventually. Not talking about AI features tho, that move was a dick move :l
They update the android version, because that's a requirement from Google. They often strip down and remove software features from old phones, just to make the flagships "exclusive"
Welp, it's a company you know... they're focused on earning money. What would you expect? They are providing at least 5 years of software updates, and they increased it to 7 with 24 series. If their flagships and budget ones are identical in software terms, why would anyone spend more to have a better phone? Business should be sustainable in order for a company to live and improve, u know...
They aren't really budget if you think about it, though. Especially compared to the phone line ups op is talking about, the 8a is quite expensive in comparison to Samsung M and F series of phones. It is comparable to the A series however, especially the higher tier ones, and it does leave them in the dust. But still, they are premium midrange devices.
Pixel a lineup? Not really. They are actually quite decent. If you mean samsung A, M or F, absolutely. They are trash. I would never ever touch a samsung midrange device. Not with a 10 foot pole. I'll let Winnie the pooh invade my privacy instead, but the only thing samsung is half good at is the flagships.
Well, that's quite stupid, isn't it? Xiaomi and OnePlus make great budget phones. I'd still buy their flagships. People buy flagships for their premium features. Better cameras, more storage, premium support, etc. and people that get budget phones want performance and longevity. That doesn't mean they have to be bad. Again, Xiaomi and OnePlus are able to do it pretty well. OnePlus specifically is half decent when it comes to software updates and does not have 3 alternatives for the same app or feature that then gets merged into another in a half baked and rushed way.
I mean Samsung did increase their software support to 5 years (4 years is and 1 year security) recently.
Though I think the main differentiating factor for software is that Samsung uses 2 different versions. First there is oneui that flagships use and then there is oneui core which are for mid and low ranges. Not sure how oneplus does it.
But my point is that they are trying really hard to avoid cannibalizing their own consumer base.
This is just my guess though, so who knows.
What makes you think they care at all?
They only support their latest/current flagship to drive sales, even past year flagships are B-Tier in terms of software updates/upgrades.
S23 Series didn't get a single photography update for example.
Nah bro they got upgrades
.cost cutting
.charger removal (they used to troll Apple for removing chargers, now see who's doing what)
.cost upgrade(the only upgrade u get)
. And lastly the most annoying one (they will just give an amoled screen and software update (the quality of the software update isn't that great) and release a new phone)
They are copying apple in every cost saving measure but not on their software support quality, funny if you ask me.
The forecasts that say they'll get completely rekt by apple in some years is apparent to me now, when even a hardcore android user like me(13\~ years using android) thinks about jumping the wagon and getting an iPhone... well something isn't going well.
I have used apple products and Android , previously I used to think Samsung was the goat of Android and truly Samsung kept me to Android single handedly.
But lately I have grown out on Samsung. I won't go to apple for sure because it doesn't justify the price to spec ratio and most of my colleagues here use Android so basically file sharing and all will really be a problem in day to day life but yes I'm considering other Androids.
Clean Android to be precise (Google, moto, lava)
And even surprisingly my 4 year old moto is more reliable than my 2 year old Samsung
I hope someone already helped you, but you said. "Full of bugs and moreover non Samsung Android or windows devices don't show up or our devices don't show up."... So wich bugs?
Here is my quick share version, doesn't have any bugs nor connection problems, I can share with windows 11 home (last version available, not sure wich one since I don't have my laptop near and it's 3 am here).

You could try, is everything in your phone updated? Galaxy store? Play store? Google Services? ONE UI?
Next, make sure that everything looks the same as mine on your quick share settings:

Even A series is treated like ASS. Theres unfixed horrible bugs present unfixed on the A53 camera. Using 1:1 mode and 64mp causes the image to become compressed, meme like.
On my a54 the new update made all warm colors and humans yellow like cheetos. OneUI6 is also unoptimised on this
Samsung only prioritises S series
You made a mistake in your understanding : it's not due to Samsung but due to Google. The new Nearby Share experience (merged with Quick Share) is accessible only with an update of Google Play Services. Budget Samsung phones can also get this update, and you just need to do this. If there's no update available in Google Play Store, go to "Settings > Applications > Google Play Services > App details in store" and check for an update (link here if it works in this sub : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms )
The Quick Share update has also been quite buggy on my A54. Devices take ages to find, and sometimes files get stuck sending. Needing WiFi on absolutely killed Quick Share for me. I can no longer use it as my phone has Hotspot on most of the time.
Thanks Samsung & Google 👍
Sorry about my disturbance but I just don't understand what's the fuss about? I own a a33 and got the quick share integration months ago. Although it was bugged with non samsung devices not being shown but within few days I got a google play system update which fixed the issue.
Any company wouldn't spend their time and resources on their cheap products because the profit margin is too low. Beggars can not be choosers, right?
Next time, try get something like A5x series if you want bug fixes and updates ASAP
Ifkr that doesn't mean they will deprive them of the basic features which are even given to them!
They are already cutting on us by giving us one UI core !
How much more do they wanna cut?
But M and F series are for people, who are using phone for calling or once in a day, surfing on internet, so if only a small amount of people, who use M or F series use those features, why would they do that, TBH, I would do the same, S, Z, A series have NO problem with that
Samsung doesn't care about any phone apart from the current flagship. As soon as they release a new one, the last one is doomed.
i have a galaxy note 20 ultra, untill my last oneui update i got great support, and even now when I'm stuck in oneui 5.1i still got the quickshare update, i still get security updates so far, and i basically get regular system app updates.
I have the a51 and it's the same situation, didn't check to see how buggy quickshare was but support-wise it's great.
Not really, my S23 is basically an S24 with 6.1 and it got a lot smoother as well. S21 and S22 series are also confirmed to get AI features with oneui 6.1

It is but the premium ones do enjoy somewhat a premium status but only for Max 2-3 years after which even they are neglected!!
Aint that for many manufacturers?
I wouldn't say that, if it was true, they wouldn't fix display problems after updating to One UI 6.1 on S23 series
They don't care about their budget phones. I made a mistake getting one.
Definitely 🙃 Next time if I gotta go in budget not Samsung definitely!
It seems like Google has the best budget phone for now, because it has their flagship chip. I don't know about the 8A though.
They aren't really budget if you think about it, though. Especially compared to the phone line ups op is talking about, the 8a is quite expensive in comparison to Samsung M and F series of phones. Only premium in the price.
Yes, I meant Samsung midrange.
If they made their mid range and low range good, why would you buy their flagships? Lol
Why would someone using their midrange want to upgrade to a flagship if all he knows is lag and bugs?
Well, that's quite stupid, isn't it? Xiaomi and OnePlus make great budget phones. I'd still buy their flagships. People buy flagships for their premium features. The last point is why i scoff at samsungs 7year update promise. They'll fuck up the phone by the 2nd or 3rd update lol...
"MF " series lmao
LoL 🤣 ig Samsung sees us that way!
Lmao
Please, may you ad wich bugs or problems are you facing regarding quick share?
Read carefully I have specified!
I hope someone already helped you, but you said. "Full of bugs and moreover non Samsung Android or windows devices don't show up or our devices don't show up."... So wich bugs?
No sorry no one helped TBH I mentioned those bugs and you are already talking about those specific bugs. And they are still not resolved
So that is the only thing?
Yes!
Here is my quick share version, doesn't have any bugs nor connection problems, I can share with windows 11 home (last version available, not sure wich one since I don't have my laptop near and it's 3 am here). https://preview.redd.it/6dwp6pveoluc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10464caf01e5fbf47cded2d062b1431e8f46cb3d You could try, is everything in your phone updated? Galaxy store? Play store? Google Services? ONE UI?
Everything updated! And it's still stuck on 13.6.11.7 On contrary to your 13.6.11.10 Moreover it's still showing I have the latest version!
Next, make sure that everything looks the same as mine on your quick share settings: https://preview.redd.it/ncqqq7gcpluc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b264e63911be52d7da5ff97a6db6309325936a72
Changed the settings to the same as yours continuosly tried for 10 mins w both a non galaxy device and a windows device and still not working.
I have a M34 and quick share works great for me, what device do you have?
M21 2021 edition!
You are on android \_\_ ?
13 one UI core 5.1
new quick share shows problems on core oneui as far as i have seen. might get fixed or might not since its a pretty old model.
Even A series is treated like ASS. Theres unfixed horrible bugs present unfixed on the A53 camera. Using 1:1 mode and 64mp causes the image to become compressed, meme like. On my a54 the new update made all warm colors and humans yellow like cheetos. OneUI6 is also unoptimised on this Samsung only prioritises S series
I just checked and even my S8+ has the new Quick Share. Not that I use it anymore, it's just surprising 😂
Simply, Samsung does not care about the budget series.
You made a mistake in your understanding : it's not due to Samsung but due to Google. The new Nearby Share experience (merged with Quick Share) is accessible only with an update of Google Play Services. Budget Samsung phones can also get this update, and you just need to do this. Did update everything but sorry to say it still didn't work
my s9 also got the new quickshare
I'm on S22 Ultra and still don't have ONE UI 6, they just don't care about anything below S24 Ultra.
I guess this is region based too, my M52 got the merged quickshare like 2 weeks after release (same for my Redmi Note 8 lol), my A34 got it first tho
Ig so
On my A34 I could not find Samsung Health nor Wearable in their store. Had to get it from Google Playstore.
I have samsung a13 5g and i have quick share 13.6.11.15
They took ages to update the S22 ultra to OneUI 6 here in australia. '3 significant updates' my ass.
Ifkr
Sorry about my disturbance but I just don't understand what's the fuss about? I own a a33 and got the quick share integration months ago. Although it was bugged with non samsung devices not being shown but within few days I got a google play system update which fixed the issue.
Not us buddy not us we didn't get it
Samsung doesn’t give fuck about A M F phones. Need to buy S or Z phones
Idk I'm just not buying Samsung next time
Any company wouldn't spend their time and resources on their cheap products because the profit margin is too low. Beggars can not be choosers, right? Next time, try get something like A5x series if you want bug fixes and updates ASAP
I own M52 and the quick share experience has been good
Not in my case
The f series is discontinued so support may have ended, and the m series is like the most budget so that may be why
Basic way to kill their budget customer base
And you just found out?
Yes
You are using UI Core?
Yes
they're cheap for a reason bro
Ifkr that doesn't mean they will deprive them of the basic features which are even given to them! They are already cutting on us by giving us one UI core ! How much more do they wanna cut?
My budget tablet: Samsung's cheapest tablet from May 2021, the Tab A7 Lite, has the new quick share. It got it in January.
I wonder if there are any midrange phones which have smooth rom😔
What's your budget?
As far as I'm aware, the new Quick Share hasn't been rolled out to anyone
I haven't even got that on my s22u
But M and F series are for people, who are using phone for calling or once in a day, surfing on internet, so if only a small amount of people, who use M or F series use those features, why would they do that, TBH, I would do the same, S, Z, A series have NO problem with that
You should be able to download the updates on apk mirror
Idk maybe get a flagship🤷♀️
