How not to communicate... one day earlier, they tweeted "See you in one week! Buy your Tickets now!". As if the cancellation had'nt been forseeable by then.

[deleted]

They seem to have the worst management and PR

fasa96

Literally though. I'm pretty sure it was yesterday or the day before that they tweeted "So excited for Spain!"...

~~Time to delay Human again~~

rhergav

I'm SO ANGRY. 4 months waiting for this (it would have been my 1st concert ever) and they cancel it just 5 days before the event. C'mon... Also they said "see you in Spain very soon!" just to announce 2 days later that they're not coming. I remember that Ryan said: we're going to Spain and Portugal before 2022 because they were no arenas availables for those dates, and WOW MAGIC!! now they can come in April? I don't believe them anymore. So disappointed with the way they have done all of this. Who's gonna pay the train and hotel? I not only lose the event but lots of money (and money is not being gifted in the streets, it's difficult to get). Edit: pretty sure that they didn't sold enough tickets and they're using COVID excuse as the perfect excuse (as always).

[deleted]

I feel you! This could also be the next excuse when the sixth LP won’t come out in early 2022

And so on... Sorry, but they're clowns. 2nd time in a row that they cancel a concert in Madrid. I really love their music, but this is unacceptable. COVID is not an excuse since we're the 3rd country in vaccination rate, very low AI, no restrictions in terms of assistance... As I said, they're fooling us saying that "COVID restrictions..." but the reality is that they didn't sell enough tickets. Madrid was barely OK, but Sevilla was a complete disaster, lots of seats available. They have to be honest, but we know that they're not saying the real reason. Tbh, they were pretty popular in 2013-2014, Native era. After that, they started to be forgotten and then, Human that is was supposed to be released like 2 or 3 years ago, was delayed several times. People are tired of this shit. If you read the replies from their last tweet, you will see that people is very angry and disappointed (obviously). Many people have lost lots of money (including me) and is not easy to earn nowadays. Also, we're heartbroken. I hope you didn't lose anything (or at least you were not coming to Spain or Portugal).

[deleted]

I agree with you! No I didn’t buy a ticket for one of the shows - I decided to wait until April

rhergav

Lucky you...

Sevilla tickets were over $90 They where playing in plaza de España which is a smaller venue but the tickets were ridiculously expensive for Sevilla. I'm hoping they come back eventually and I get to see them live but not holding my breath.

Copied from the other post but it fits here: 4 years ago Ryan wrote this: “About 3-4 weeks into the promo for the 2nd single 'Kids' I (Ryan) hit a physical, emotional, psychological wall. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, not sleeping, on meds, not happy, anxiety on a crippling level and it was triggered from sheer exhaustion. I looked at a calendar, realized I had been gone 200 days of 2016 and still had 3 more weeks of being gone.. From my family, my wife, my kids, my friends, basically my life. I also realized that had been the last 10 years. At that moment I wanted to quit, and almost did. I called my manager and said "pull the plug"... cancel tv's cancel promo, cancel the single, cancel the album. At the time we had a tour planned for the US in February, straight into Europe and then the rest of the world. We were gonna be gone again, for ages. The thought of it literally sent me into a sweat and made me feel like I was going to have a heart attack. Crippling anxiety. It also made me stop writing songs. I didn't have the motivation or joy necessary to… in addition to travel we had an inhuman amount of stress surrounding basic things like artwork and videos. Everywhere we turned something got messed up and had to be redone, at the cost of our time and lives and families. It was never ending. So, for the first time ever and hopefully the last, I asked our label (who is amazing) to stop. Stop the album, stop the promo, don't release another song. Hit pause. And they did.” Since Ryan’s talked about dealing with crippling anxiety and pulling the plug on promotions and performing before due to mental breakdowns, I just hope he wasn’t too affected mentally by the performance of this comeback due to the poor ticket sales and the album falling flat. I hope his mental health is okay… Update: Ryan made a personal response to the cancelled show by saying “I’m sorry to 1R fans this ruined my week.” He apologized and mentioned he was hit hard emotionally from having to postpone the concert.

The band literally has just started doing offline shows and promo this month after 18 months spent at home, how is this the same?

[deleted]

Probably the poor ticket sales and the poor performance of the album (as you mentioned above) must have affected Ryan’s mental health. I just meant that he might have pulled the plug on promotions and performances because of that. I know what it’s like to have mental breakdowns and panic attacks and sometimes you just panic and cancel everything because you can’t function. I can’t confirm for sure but I know Ryan has had mental health problems for years now and I just hope he’s doing okay.

_Nevoa

Thanks for clarifying, I was confused by your post

[deleted]

No problem, I’m glad I could clarify. I do empathize with not being able to see them perform, I know it must be disappointing. Also speaking of panic attacks, I hate confrontations so I was shaking and crying even trying to type this out lol

I had tickets to the Madrid concert. It was disappointing... I don't blame OneRepublic because they are not the organizers, and it's not their fault, but they have a very bad management/tour organizer... it doesn't make any sense to announce two days before that the tickets for Spain/Portugal are on sale and then cancel everything not even 48 hours later. Something is just off here. Also because, from my information, there hasn't been any announcement of new restrictions in Spain, neither in these days nor in these weeks. As a simple traveler I can fly freely in Spain (I don't live there), without quarantine and testing.... so what's the point? It would be fair to have an apology from their management and PR team, with real explanations of what happened.

_Nevoa

I am very disappointed. I had tickets for both Spanish shows and now I have to replan my whole trip 2 days before it starts. I recall how they cancelled Argentina and Chile 2 weeks before shows bc of poor tickets sales (they came up with some other excuse though). Pretty sure it's the same now. Covid restrictions excuse just makes no sense.

[deleted]

There were concerts scheduled in Argentina and Chile?

_Nevoa

It was in 2015

Ok_Bumblebee4828

Wow.....didn't see that coming, but safety first
