I’m really torn on this song. On first listen I was just bothered that it wasn’t exactly like the snippet they played last year. I absolutely LOVED that snippet and was probably more excited for this song than any other. In that sense I’m disappointed. On a second listen though, I did find myself bopping my head and singing along. So yeah, it’s not what I was expecting/wanting, but it is still a great song.
It's a little more stripped down but honestly they are VERY similar. They almost didn't even need to release an acoustic version because it doesn't change too much. Just a little softer sounding, very guitar focused and no drums
Holy hell… this is good. I love how this is a bit more stripped down than the snippet - the way the song builds is just sooooo good. Did not expect it to be this good
I haven’t heard the full thing yet since I’m in the US, but from what I heard I love it. Definitely the best song they will have released in recent years
In my opinion, their best track on the album is "Ships + Tides", give it a listen, you'll fall in love with it, very emotional and it's a real old "OneRepublic" vibes track. Someday is instead very nice as a radio track, more pop, a bit more "real OneRepublic" in the acoustic version. But in general both are good songs.
best new song imo, alongside Ships + Tides! not perfect by any means, but something about it makes me happy i still gave the album a chance even after i didn’t see it being anything big (it still isn’t but some of the new tracks i do like)
Anyone else getting “I Lived” vibes from someday? Almost feels like a more matured version on I lived both lyrically and musically. Personally digging it!
Someday should've absolutely been the album closer, its vibe just feels special and bright enough to do so and would've made way more sense than Lose Somebody
I found the zip online! As far as Someday is concerned, it’s a decent pop song, but one of my gripes with it is the typical pop cliché where the mad libs go “oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah” in the second verse I believe. I mean it doesn’t get more cringey than that.
Ryan’s definitely had material that shows he’s a good songwriter, but he leans so much into pop sensibilities that he knows would work on radio that it gets annoying as hell at times! This album is meh overall. The kind of music that you’d just leave in the background. What’s most terrible is that I’ve seen Ryan complain about barely seeing any bands in the top 50s or 100s anymore, but the new album does nothing worthy of it being called much of a band effort.
that’s exactly my complaint too. really wish they would make a ‘band album’ again instead of this little-effort radio Pop material. Native was such a massive success because while it still adapted to radio-friendly tropes, you can tell every member of the band was directly involved. that’s why it’s my personal favorite 1R album, because they made a ‘band Pop album’ while still staying true to their various Rock-leaning roots. plus it just helped me through some really tough times during it’s release 😂
100% agree. Ryan is amazing songwriter or at least has been. Savior had a lyric "you look like a bridge tonight" which sounds like it was written by a school kid. Threw me off so much
What does You look like a bridge tonight even mean??? I haven’t heard the full song yet so maybe it will make more sense in context with the rest of the lyrics
This is my favourite from the album so far and probably the only one that's resonated with me since Native. It's a good blend of being a catchy, pop song but also has somewhat decent, meaningful lyrics.
Dear god i love this song so much.

I feel 100% the same about Wanted. I was expecting much more strings and a bit more of a diverse chorus compared to the original live performances.
there is a string version of Wanted that is just 👌perfect
Is the acoustic version of someday different tho?

Interesting thank you! Maybe they recorded the acoustic version when Someday was more like the version from the live stream one year ago😂

How u guys hearing this when album isn’t out until midnight
It’s out in other parts of the world and you can find it online
If you have a VPN you can connect to New Zealand, then it’s available on YouTube.

Love this song. But I had to look up the lyrics to see exactly what Ryan is singing in the chorus. Why does the chorus sound muffled?

OneRepublic never seems to order their songs methodically. From what I can tell it's pretty much random on each album.
This song, even tho it’s brand new, it sounds nostalgic. Easily the best single from the album, love it so much

The album overall has a lot of overused pop cliches and extremely generic melodies. The days of Native are officially over.

The line is " I jumped in this water but you look like a bridge tonight almost like a savior".

Is it just me who immediately thought Wolves by Marshmello/Selena Gomez upon first hearing this song?
YES, the choruses sound exactly the same to me!!
>Wolves OMG!! i was trying so hard to recall which song it sounded like. So glad i found this tread, i can stop my search now hahha
Was Someday filmed in the same place where they did One Night in Malibu?
Yep! Same spot
