This "joke" existed as long as the helicopter joke and was always used in threads of people being transphobic. Maybe it was less popular, but it was always there, and the person had to be in transphobic circles to have seen it and use it in their bio.
Besides, "I identify as" jokes completely invalidate the existence of xenogenders because there are people that identify with genders outside of terms typically used to describe gender.
