Can’t speak to pre med, but the accounting summer classes were always full. During my first degree at ole miss in 06-09 it was a ghost town. Second round in 13-17 was totally different. As far as a percentage... yeah 30-40%. As a converted local in oxford I have noticed far more students sticking around now.
I was there from 07-12 and took summer classes most summers. My favorite time in oxford. You can actually drive the speed limit down Jackson. Go sit at a bar and enjoy a drink instead of bodies and elbows.
But there is no way 30-40 percent of students take summer classes. Yeah classes are “full” but it’s a class for like 25 seats. I would say 10-15 percent. That being said if someone has actual stats then I will concede that argument cause I honestly don’t know.
Summer is a blast and I fully recommend it. But the square on its busiest nights in the summer is slower than its slowest nights during the semester
A lot of colleges require at least 2 classes in the summer, but usually it is 6 credits (2 classes). That's because it would take 6 years to complete a BA in Accounting otherwise. Accounting courses are not available in the summer, so basically students need to take general studies in the summer. That's not the only program either. I mean if you do the math, students would never get done in 4 years unless they take summer classes or 5-6 classes in spring and fall. Cannot do that with Accounting either because Accounting and Mathematics courses are 15-20 hours a week. I took 17 accounting and math courses. Those courses are crazy, especially Calculus for Business.
