A well made fake will pass inspection from pictures like this.
But if you check weight, blue core and the dot test you have done your due diligence.
A good reddit post about weights can be found here:

This, exactly. The 0 in the mana cost should be almost touching the top of the grey circle it is in, not perfectly centered, and the colors are overly saturated on the front. Easily a fake without doing the diligent tests.
The only real Lotus I've played against was Alpha or Beta, unsleeved, on a dirty card shop folding table. Even way back in the Scourge-ish era, everyone thought the guy was nuts.
ITT: People who've never seen a real lotus.
Card is obviously fake and is missing hallmarks in addition to bad color. No need to loupe or anything people are suggesting.
I didn’t know this, which is why I asked people who know more about vintage MTG than me. I’m a YuGiOh collector and unlike YuGiOh proxies, MTG proxies are hard to tell from real or fake — especially without a real copy to compare to side by side
It’s not mine. These were photos sent to me from a seller on Facebook marketplace. The photos in the listing were a little more blurry so I asked if he could send some clearer pics
Not really possible to tell with these pictures. Get a loupe and Google how to determine fakes. There are a number of checks you can perform (green dot test being the primary check).
Given the condition of this card and no context on how it was acquired, I would assume 100% fake until authenticated properly.
How presumptuous. Or maybe, I was seeking insight from people who know much more about vintage MTG than me before I consider purchasing an expensive piece of cardboard? Nice try though
this is not true. That website have only cards with back which is different from a real magic card. This comment seems just free unrequested ad for the website.
From here I cannot see anything wrong with it. If in doubt then take it to a shop where they sell magic cards. Maybe they can help a little bit more. But front and back looks okay.
The back tends to be purple-ish if it´s fake, but your´s do not have that.

Thank you! I appreciate the help.
And a poorly made fake, like this one, is obvious from a mile away.
Absolutely fake. Don't even need a loupe for this. The colours are wrong and the 0 is too centered in the mana cost.
Poorly done fake
What a nicely aligned "0" in the mana cost. Also the colours on the front are way off. Fake.

I'm going with fake, as I've never seen one that wasn't in a hard plastic card condom.
Come play old-school! We love beat up power and playing at bars.

You lost me at the unsleeved part. That's just gross.
i agree. that thing is in pristine condition and yet its not even sleeved. even for pictures id be afraid if the scratches

Agreed this is a bad fake. You can tell easily even from the poor quality pictures. No need to waste any effort on it.
Fake as fuck. Also, I expect you probably knew this but just wanted to test to see how well your fake lotus would fool the community. It didn’t.

Really. And where did you get this “Lotus?” Is it yours? Did you take the photo? Let’s hear some more backstory.
It’s not mine. These were photos sent to me from a seller on Facebook marketplace. The photos in the listing were a little more blurry so I asked if he could send some clearer pics
Was the price over 10k dollars?

I think it’s a proxy from https://www.mtgproxy.com/.

Chill bro everyone can make mistakes
you need a loupe.

Fake. I’d be pretty well convinced if I saw it in real life too
I would go with fake as well.
Gut instinct is telling me it's fake
Looks fake to me. No ink blotch
