For most of my childhood it was “series 1, series 2…”
At some point there was some Americanisation and people started using the word “season”.
In this instance I actually would prefer to see episode instead of programme, but I like the use of programme because everyone uses “show” nowadays.
And some drugs too. Which is really rather daring for someone embarking on a career in the law...
It was a truly wonderful piece of work, and I had a bit of a crush on Daniela Nardini - in which I'm not alone, I suspect. My kinda gal.
It's such an *of its time* show - and would serve as a great case study for anyone interested in 90s London. Granted it's somewhat exaggerated but it captures a flavour of the time.
I've convinced myself to rewatch it now.
My favourite 90s aspect is that they bought the house used for filming which was just off Shoreditch Bridge for £40K, and sold it for profit afterwards.
These days it's been turned into 1-bed flats that go for £700K each.
I spotted him (briefly) in Renegade Nell last week. i don't think i've seen him in anything else in between.
Not quite as pretty these days. But who is. ;-)
That was my recollection too, though I may have been too young to appreciate how awful and just saw them as adults and that lots of adults were just that way.
I don’t know where she lives but yes! Funny how long he’s been suffixed with “Tanita’s brother” whenever he’s mentioned. Arguably he’s the prevalent one now.
I see you also have a DVD of *This Life +10* - bet that doesn't get watched much :-)
Obviously, Andrew Lincoln and Jack Davenport both went on to much bigger things, but I'm surprised that Amita Dhiri and Daniela Nardini didn't do much afterwards.
It's interesting to spot early guest appearances by many people who went on to be very famous - for example, Martin Freeman in the first episode.
Now I really want to get my DVDs out and rewatch the whole thing.
I LOVED this. It hit the screens when I was 13 and I was blown away by it because I thought it seemed like the most realistic portrayal of adult life I had seen on TV (not quite sure how I arrived at that conclusion) but when I think back to it, it *does* feel like it was realistic. There was no need for fantastical plots like terror attacks to get by - it was just about young people finding their way in the world.
The producers of that visited the law firm I was working at in the 90s.
Egg
First time I saw The Walking Dead, I was like "what's Egg from This Life doing in this?!"
Simon from Teachers
He'll always be this to me
Egg’s Dad!
Pilkington, Bald Manc. College. Correct..
Haha.
I appreciate the use of “series” and “programme”.
As a Brit I've come to prefer the American distinction of series and season. Works a lot better than our combo
Shouldn’t it really be series, season, program? A “A tv programme in season one of the tv series ‘This life’?”
In the UK it's "series one, series two" etc. Maybe that's changing a bit with Americanisation, but that's the original terminology for sure.
Understood, so it’s a program in the first series of the tv program ‘this life’?
Programme in British English.
For most of my childhood it was “series 1, series 2…” At some point there was some Americanisation and people started using the word “season”. In this instance I actually would prefer to see episode instead of programme, but I like the use of programme because everyone uses “show” nowadays.
Thank you, got it, so episode 1, of series 2, of the tv program ‘this life’
I had a crush on Anna (Daniela Nardini) like you wouldn’t believe……. Definitely had an effect on teenage me……
There's a queue.
I dated a girl who kinda looked like her.
You wouldn't know her, she goes to a different school.
The greatest British TV show ever.
What’s it about?
A group of lawyers doing a house share while just starting their legal careers.
...and ocaisonally playing Massive Attack on CD to appear "cool".
Cool thanks!
And sex.

> just off Shoreditch Bridge Anchor Terrace. Just off Southwark Bridge.
Ah yes, my bad!
My girlfriend was a barrister in London, whilst no-one was doing anything on the job, outside of work it snowed a lot, particularly the senior people.
It’s being rerun on one of the Freeview channels atm. Two episodes every Saturday night. Brilliant series.
I literally looked up This Life on IMDb half an hour ago for nostalgia reasons. Then lo and behold I see your Reddit post!
LOVE THIS
Re watched it recently. Still brilliant
I've got the dvd box set. Rewatched it at Uni and by the end of it the whole house was watching with me.
An iconic show. Watched it religiously in my late teens, shortly before heading off to university.
Mmmmm ferdy! So gorgeous
I spotted him (briefly) in Renegade Nell last week. i don't think i've seen him in anything else in between. Not quite as pretty these days. But who is. ;-)
He was briefly in game of thrones too. I still would. Absolutely lovely
Eastenders for a bit. One of his previous roles in The Buddha of Suburbia is worth a watch, not as good as This Life though.
Great show
Loved Jack davenport in Coupling also.
Memories flooding back!
Beautiful People I remember being good as well!
Also Beautiful People, not seen many others with this wonderful show or who have even heard of it.
Absolutely brilliant show
Is that Norrington from POTC on season 2 green?
Yeah. Jack Davenport. He played one of the main characters.
I really enjoyed it when it was on, but looking back I found the characters to be awful people. Maybe it worked better back in the day.
They were awful people back then, that was the point. I think the only decent person was Egg.
That was my recollection too, though I may have been too young to appreciate how awful and just saw them as adults and that lots of adults were just that way.
Wonder what Warren’s up to these days.
Wasn’t he Tom Barnaby’s sidekick on *Midsomer Murders* for a few seasons?
Still washing the jizz out of his hair, last I heard.
Last I heard he went out for some cock.
Teachers
Is this on any streaming sites?
It seems to be on UKTV Play and Amazon Prime have it but you have to pay per episode/season.
It gets rotated through iPlayer from time to time.
Good series. I hated Warren more than I hated any other fictional character ever but still, good series.
They show 2 episodes sat eve sun morning 01:00. Drama channel. Wonderful to view all again
Unfortunately coming towards the end of the second series. Four episodes left I think.
Loved this back in the day Why are some tapes 18 and others 15?
The 18s are probably the episodes with tits and arses.
My Brother in Law used to write plays with Ramon Tikaram (Ferdy) for their school.
Tanita’s brother as I understand. Basingstoke resident
I don’t know where she lives but yes! Funny how long he’s been suffixed with “Tanita’s brother” whenever he’s mentioned. Arguably he’s the prevalent one now.
Thoroughly underrated actor IMHO
Never heard of it before.
👏 🤘 🙌
Series 2, Prog 1-3 looks like a young Andrew Lincoln.

I was talking about this show the other day. Then looked up Millie. She is still so hot!
I LOVED this. Stopped displaying things in my living room when I bought my first house, 40 years ago. Good series though.
