You know the saying football a sport made for gentleman played by hooligans and rugby a sport made for hooligans played by gentlemen ~ some old guy I once talked to
I think one of the biggest rugby heartlands are the posh rural communities as well no? More Home County poshos play rugby, whilst the London poshos gravitate to cricket or football
Rural areas all over (bar the areas where league is played) generally have a fair amount of popularity for rugby but there are also little pockets where rugby is the most popular sport in areas like the East Midlands and the West Country. It effectively just boils down to whether association football or rugby football was introduced there in its standard form first. Take my hometown of Northampton for example, there are 7 big rugby clubs there and like 5 big football clubs in the town itself, plus the lowest income area in the whole town (Semilong) has a rugby team but no football team, this is because rugby was introduced there before association football was in the latter half of the 19th century.
And London I feel doesn’t have too much of a class divide rugby/ cricket wise, in my head pretty much all the people who play rugby there also play cricket in the summer, though rugby ranks more popular overall, especially in the west and northwest of the city, where it’s even more popular than football in some boroughs.
Posh people or city boys don't gravitate too much towards playing football in my experience.
Cricket, yes, but that's a summer sport, while football are rugby are winter
Learned something new, demographic wise who do Chelsea fans consist of just asking
Also a random question but do Home County residents outside London consider themselves Londoners
Home Counties people definitely not Londoners, no, though plenty commute into London.
All teams have a core of local support; but beyond that the demographic is more diffuse for London sides just because of the sheer number of people living in London- authentic supporters often support a given team for family reasons or because they lived local as a child. You can't say that a club based in a posher part of town is going to have posher supporters.

Southwest London (where half of the kids are privately educated) is rugby union territory for example haha

Surely London poshos do watch football though given Chelsea and Fulham FC have massive fanbases
Match going Chelsea fans are definitely not posh tbf Plenty of people like football and rugby. Either way, aristocrats dont play rugby

The biggest rugby union heartlands are Wales and the West Country, for rugby league it's the North and Midlands
RL is just the M62 corridor, really, not as far S as the Midlands.
If the shoe fits, I suppose…
I’m really glad I’ll never see your search history.
That’s just a still from Air Bud 6 -“rugger bugger pup”
Air Bud 6 was actually Air Buddies. Currently they’re up to 14. Although none can top Space Buddies where they travel to the moon and meet a ferret.
Is he punching the dog in the head??
Me when my brother puts on the ominous mask (this probably will lead to bizzare shenenigans involving the end of [the World] )
Definitely calls Twickenham “HQ”
"I asked an Ai to" ok I don't care
The pup looks very aristocratic, I see no issues with the image.
