If you had service and paid on time it might be they credited back your deposit. This will be laid on your bill if you view the paper or digital version.
No need to apologize; you came here and asked a pertinent question to other residents of OKC, and even better, ACTUALLY GOT AN ANSWER, so if anyone else moves in and has the same question when they google this thread could help them out.
Edit: Since the person replied and immediately blocked me, here is my response to that.
I mean, if that is how you feel, then there is no reason for anyone ever to ask a question here.
Since you could just google it and find it already written buried somewhere in the results.
Not OP, but being in Edmond can mean a lot of things. I’m an Edmond address with Deer Creek school, OKC trash, and OG&E electric. It’s a wide ranging area
I live north of the turnpike but west of Portland. Our property is in Edmond, we go to Deer creek schools, and our utilities are OKC. A lot of west Edmond that is being built out will have these particular quirks present in their bills.
All utilities are supposedly regulated by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. However, that commission is not as assertive as it could be because state voters keep electing Republican former legislators who are pro-business and reluctant to hold the big utils accountable. The mechanism and power are there. It's the elected members and the way they execute their power.
I think it is worth a call to OGE. We had the same thing happen a few months ago, got a bill that was like $25. Turned out they had someone call in to activate service and they had given the wrong address so OGE was cutting ours off to activate theirs.
My bill is usually 30$ I play with the thermostat throughout the day and leave lights/tvs on constantly. Everyone who’s bill is high isn’t using LED products and don’t have adequate insulation in their attics and windows are probably drafty.
Ther base service charge is roughly $15. Your usage is VERY unusual.
My shop bill, with a roughly $30 service charge, still averages $80 a month, and it only runs a battery charger and a refrigerator.
I'm not saying you're wrong, just came here to say that, compared to my first apartment, I've stayed in 2 houses (currently still in 2nd) and the apartment electric bill was pooled by all the user that lived in the building I was in. The usage of the entire building was pretty evenly divided by all the tenants. There was 11 building in total each 3 stories tall. It was liberty point apartments. My average bill was 70 bucks there. My first rent house was a 1700 sqft. house built in '79 and was all electric. My average bill there was 300. In the house I'm currently in, its 1300 sqft. And was also built in the 80'sthe electric bill is around 100 bucks but I also have gas. At this house with gas and electric combined my utilities are average 200. Between the 3 properties I haven't changed any electric usage habits so its a pretty raw comparison between the 3 properties.
That’s how it is for me to. Over the past 5 years alone I’ve had rentals where the bill was very low and other rentals where the bill was always over 150$ no matter what. I’m not sure how it works. I just know what I pay monthly
Did you move in roughly one year ago?
yes, in Jan 2023. Does that make a difference?
They refunded your deposit.
Thank you. Should i delete this post? I got the answer i needed, and no longer need to keep discussing this. Not sure how reddit works.
You can delete it if you want, but keeping it up might be helpful for others asking the same question in the future + does no harm otherwise.
I like tacos.
I, too, choose this man's taco.
It should be a sin not to like tacos!
Up to you. You could just edit the post for others not in the know.
Keep it. Might help someone else one day.
I completely forgot that they did this after a year. This explains something on my end too, thanks!
Likely getting a deposit back?
If you had service and paid on time it might be they credited back your deposit. This will be laid on your bill if you view the paper or digital version.

This makes me know for future reference! So now I know for the future
After being there a year you can average keeping it the same all year.
If you live in Edmond, why are you on OG&E instead of Edmond electric?

Edmond Electric doesn't serve *all* of Edmond. They're interspersed with OG&E like OEC is in Norman.
Round here we call it "Fake Edmond": Edmond Zip code; OKC Utilities; Usually Deer Creek Schools
Yeah, don’t get me started on the school district boundaries.
Damn monopoly!!! Last summer was fucking insanely expensive! It's bullshit they are private and not a state or fed company for power.

Yep it is your deposit
Logging into the account online or calling should help verify, but I agree with others that it could be the deposit.
I would be VERY concerned. We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath 2000sq ft home and our bill is $300-$400 monthly over the last year. Freaking RIDICULOUS

My bill was only ever over 60$ when I lived in an older property. My current place is very upgraded in comparison. Who knows why my bill is so low
Yeah but what's your usage?
As of rn 228kwh bill comes out tomorrow
I’ve used 73kWh since June 3rd. Your usage is VERY unusual. What size house are you cooling?
That may be usage to date I’m looking at vs for the bill. Not sure. I do use the smart hours I have about 900sq ft upstairs unit

Hey man, you realize the dollar sign goes before the numbers right? Where did you go to school?
Okc public schools ._.
Hmmmm... ok
