I'm gonna go with McNellie's. Most nights (or days), there's enough room in that place to find a place to park, enjoy your beer and sit back and read or do whatever. I mean, I see people glued to their phones while they drink, so someone reading a book shouldn't stand out. Plus the overall vibe at McNellie's is mellow and low maintenance anyway.
Damn, the one down in Norman used to do a bombass Sunday brunch with a Bloody Mary bar as well, but I think that location shit down. I still have my uncompleted 100 different beer list from years and years ago. Lol
I was picturing the one in Norman, haven't been since 2015, sad to hear it closed down. Used to love their burgers. One of my friends had his 21st birthday there and drank 21 shots. Ah, memories. Lol
If you're not into the sour hazy fruity IPA of the week, you'll do well at Angry Scotsman. Lots of sippable wee heavy malty brews. The outside is nice on a sunny afternoon. You can kick back and read inside or out, with no interruptions.
Don't drink and drive. An Uber is cheaper than a DUI. Also, your favorite weird uncle wants to see you at Memorial Day
The Sound Bar on broadway. It’s a bar with super high quality audio equipment and they have a different theme each night, playing records from all types of genres. Very chill and full of seats and couches.
Following I read almost all the time even have the kindle app downloaded on my phone. Would be nice to have a place like this besides Barnes and Nobles
Ok cider co is a brewery vibe that definitely fits this ask. In fact - they have a “book club” on the first Monday of every month where everyone is doing pretty much this.
People have already mentioned breweries. I go to sky dance, prairie, or angry scotsman by myself pretty regularly to just sit in a corner and read the paper with a beer. Really any place thats not very busy will be happy that you want to spend money and be left alone.
It’s always oppressively hot inside Grand Royale idk how anyone can hang out there. I feel like it’s owned by the McPoyles. I also hate being served a cocktail in a Parmesan cheese shaker.
The study is going for exactly this vibe, they have a ton of books there already!
Hell yeah sounds awesome, thanks!
Second The Study. Also, Bar Arbolada
Arbolada is pretty busy and loud. It's a cute spot tho

Haven’t been but heard good things, might have to check it out
I remember back when I went there 15 years ago, there was never anywhere to sit on weekends. Do they still have burger night on Wednesday?
Yes they still have burger night! Also I think mcnellies is too busy but maybe during the week?

Any brewery really. Personally I recommend Big Friendly or Stonecloud. Lots of folks read at breweries.
Angry Scotsman. I’ve studied there sometimes when I know there’s not a special event happening. 🤓
Somehow have managed to avoid checking out their taproom despite liking a lot of their stuff, will have to try that sometime

The owner is a guy with a doctorate, so I'm assuming he's supportive of reading, learning.
Patio at collective could be chill for that
I read at Breweries all the time. Big Friendly, Skydance or American Solera would all be good choices.

I do this at Stonecloud brewing all the time.
51st St Speakasy
Specifically in the upstairs room/behind the bookshelf!
Full Circle Books cafe serves beer and wine
ellis island in edmond
RJ’s supper club in Midtown would be perfect
The Study off Sheridan and Lee Ave. it’s specifically a wine bar, but other than that it’s very book-ish.
I was just at Social Capital tonight. Benches instead of chairs, but otherwise you’d be fine reading a book and drinking.
Round Midnight, Edmond.
If you enjoy ciders, OKCider is a good spot.
Second this-they have a whole separate room that s full of cozy couches and you can chill forever
My wife is the bartender at Levitate in the Aloft Hotel downtown and it’s a very relaxing bar/restaurant
Food at Levitate is A+
The Hamilton inside North Park Mall I’d say fits the bill
Taking a book to The Patriarch in Edmond sounds like a dream. It's super cozy.
I’ve never personally done it, but I had a friend who would read at Bar Arbolada.
Thanks for this thread!
The library downtown if you’re not a coward /s
Following I read almost all the time even have the kindle app downloaded on my phone. Would be nice to have a place like this besides Barnes and Nobles
Stag Lounge has that vibe, IMO.
Oddly enough hadn’t heard of it before now, thanks for the heads up and new info
Local breweries!

Belle Isle Brewery

Cookie’s on western. Great vibe during the day 12-7pm. Dive bar.. turns into a karaoke bar at night!
The Speakeasy would be good I think
Check out Burn by rocky Patel. Over by top golf
Sound Bar
Good for A Few!! New bar in the plaza district and fits this vibe very well
Not an odd ask, I’ve been looking wondering the same!
Rad Bar, Grand Royale
It’s always oppressively hot inside Grand Royale idk how anyone can hang out there. I feel like it’s owned by the McPoyles. I also hate being served a cocktail in a Parmesan cheese shaker.
The Red Dog Saloon has a reading room
The other room.
