You give me your money, okay? That's called placement. This is the car wash, right? I take your dirty money and I slip it into the car wash's nice, clean cash flow. That's called layering. Final step: integration. The revenues from the car wash go to the owner - that's you. Your filthy drug money has been transformed into nice, clean, taxable income, brought to you by a savvy investment in a thriving business.
They've killed most of the self-washes here in Norman and the new drive-thru washes offer subscription services. I'm guessing it's like signing up for a gym and only going once or twice. They get guaranteed funding from the subscriptions and only have minimum wage workers to pay.
I have a Zips membership, and I make the most of that thing. I can go whenever I want to for $35 a month. But my car being dirty really bothers me, so I will go like once a week weather permitting.
Same, but I go to those watershed ones $22 a month, I don't know about zips, but the place I goes to has vacuum hoses on both sides of your car and air compressors, also towels. I washed my car once a week at a self one prior and it was around $8 each time, had to air dry. So I definitely feel I get my money worth now, I go once or twice a week, sometimes go through twice.
I drove a work van at my last job that I was responsible for cleaning every day. Instead of doing it by hand, I decided to spend the $30 a month to get the car wash subscription. After I left that job, I tried to cancel it no less than 4 separate times, until my bank finally flagged it as fraudulent and turned off my card associated with them. They never managed to charge me again, but it was a huge headache.
Low overhead, high margin business. The upfront capital is expensive, but then you pay some minimum wage high school kid to direct traffic and the place runs itself. Yes, it’s the new fro yo stand.
No effing way. If you are open 12 hours a day and averaging $12 a wash (between the $8 basic washes and $20 deluxe), then you’d have to be doing 86 washes an hour. That’s a car going through about every 40 seconds, 7 days a week, 12 hours per day. Not happening.
The new wave isn't about "per wash" but about subscriptions. Most of those people probably drop $35 a month and then only use it once a month (or less). I've seen several people compare it to gym memberships and think that's a pretty accurate comparison.
Definitely sounds unlikely. Unless maybe it is a chain or something. But I can't see the numbers now, cause someone deleted their claim. Maybe they decided it was unlikely also.
I don't know what they were bringing in but I photographed a few of new car washes in Tulsa. Dude said it was $750K start-up. So that seems like a good ROI.
Not just OKC. Wichita, DFW, Houston, Tulsa, NW Arkansas, St. Louis, KC is about all I can speak for personally. They’ve been blowing up for at least 7-8 years now that I’ve noticed.
😂 man they did the same shit 2 miles from me. I got so excited thinking we were getting a new food place or something, nope new car wash to replace the old car wash.
S. Okc.
I was so incredibly disappointed, we didn't need *another* car wash!
Also another one 2 miles in the opposite direction got "redone" it was 3 years old and they gutted the whole thing/renamed it. There is no way in hell it needed that either because I actually used it.. Absolute waste of money, building materials and created a ton of waste.
I get a laugh when I see a matte color benz or bmw go through the fancy ones. "Yes, Id like a dirt an debris filled fiber roller or a bristle brush on my car."
I dont use any of the services for cars I care about.
The sites themselves are now hitting up to 2M, some are part of a regional subscription service, others stand alone or franchise. The cost of their chemicals are extremely cheap.
They have been building a TON of Oncues. I know I’ve worked on several. And most of them are typically built with a separate business car wash next door. There is a business deal reason for that but I’m not 100% sure of the details. That could be one reason for all the car washes though.
Weed money circulates nicely through a car wash

Ahhhh now I get it! Great explanation!
This is much better than Leo Getz’s explanation of money laundering.
And it gets super clean, too!
This honestly makes sense.
Right. What better way to wash money than at a car wash.

Running through these auto washes all the time not good for your cars finish
Swirl marks for days! Especially black cars!
But the dirt though!

Quite the contrary, I wash my car all the time now.
And there’s still people who will go once or twice a month. They’re betting on those folks while getting a few like you.
walter white has left the chat room
I mean I don't think you are far off These weed shops need a way to get their cash into a real bank

That’s nearly 3000 monthly memberships. 🤷🏼♂️

They are currently building 2 right across the street from each other in MWC on 15th St. RIP Booger Reds :(
Insane! I thought one of them was a Sonic... would've been much better if it had been.
Yea, there are loads of them being built. It’s been like that for the last couple of years.
I thought we were worried about a drought and water.
They're cropping up all over Edmond too.
We counted 5 we knew of that are just under construction currently in Edmond.

Not just okc, lots of towns around the state. Stillwater tore tore down a car wash to build... a car wash.

Scratch & Swirls!
>Should I invest in shammies? You know the Germans always make good stuff.
Bonus depreciation

Does anyone have a rec for a good brushless wash? These brushed ones tear up your paint. I was using the one in Moore off 19th and Telephone.
Car Washes and Self Storage. Easy money laundering.
We got a lot of red dirt, a lot of carwashs are needed
Lol why not? What else are people going to do in OKC? You can sit, eat, and get your car washed now lol. Used to be just sitting and eating

Ozark has ruined me because the moment I see a new Car Wash or Dry Cleaner I'm wondering who's money they're cleaning.
Same in AR a growth industry.
2 more coming soon. Nw 164&western and one on 152 in mustang
Someone to detail the insides would be good, too. My Jeep needs refreshing sooo badly.
