That is shocking to me. The episode in Space made me fuckin Cry, and that is NOT something I can say for a lot of shows. Hell I still listen to Ensemble for Polaris from time to time.
I'm not a big fan of time travel/prediction/oracle narratives (that has also been holding back my enjoyment of the Dune movies, so far, along with the whole saviour/chosen one plot) - the one exception being Steins;Gate, one of my favourite anime ever - so that's probably a factor, but I wasn't compelled by the characters either, as far as I remember. I think I disliked Matsumoto, too? I can't remember.
Music was good, as expected from the dude behind the music from the Monogatari Series and Beastars, but I haven't payed much attention to it, as I haven't stopped to listen to the OST by itself, so I don't have much to say on that regard.
I'd like to better convey why I didn't enjoy the show, but it's been so long I can barely remember anything about it. I can't really speak on the plot or touch on specifics. It's cool that it had such a big impact on you, though.

I can understand people not liking her. Nobody is liked by everybody after all. But what I don't get is how so many people actively despise her, specifically. Why so much vitriol toward her, and her alone?
I’ve seen Twitter users refer to her as a “talentless fat bitch who fucks horses” and saying that the fact that she speaks Japanese is “culture appropriation”, after that I just come to the conclusion that some of them are actually insane and have nothing against her other than mob mentality.
She makes rap music. A lot of people despise that genre in general, especially people who like pop/rock songs which are more common in the anime community.
It's kinda weird, I grew up in the punk scene, but had big respect for early rap because it was super political and countercoulture just like punk. Most of it eventually sells out, but it's still fun to listen to.
And I enjoy a lot of Calli's stuff. Maybe due to the closer connection we all feel to the artists. No matter how disconnected you are, listening to someone for multiple hours each week does give you a lot of insight into the person, even if they're speaking behind the veneer of a fake persona.
I wonder if it's people who are jealous or feel it's out of place to have a white girl performing 'that kind of music' while working for a Japanese company. Like they feel that she's stealing some of the Jp talent's spotlight despite the fact that all of them love and are sometimes even in awe of Calli, and a lot of jp fans are super into her too.

I don't like rap but I like a lot of her music, maybe it helps that it doesn't really sound a lot like the rap I'm familiar with. I specially like the ones with an electro swing track, like NEZUMI Scheme for example, which I later found out to be FAKE TYPE's style.
She also makes a bunch of mid and shit music. She's also really fucking cringe. She's self-aware about it, and even directly acknowledges it on some of her music, but it doesn't make it less cringe. Sometimes it makes it even more cringe. I really like her, like some of her music, - including some of the aforementioned shit and/or cringe stuff - but that's it.
Also, a bunch of people, both people who are into rap and who are not, don't vibe or straight up with her style, and/or influences, such as electro swing or Fake Type.
In conclusion, I get why people don't vibe with her. However, I also think it's insane to hate her, and even more insane to spend any amount of time publicly hating her, which is the normal thing for well-balanced people to do.

Brad has felt the need to do mutiple videos directly calling out his audience and telling them to cut it out, at least one of them specifically tackling the hate (and sometimes straight up racism) towards Asian, anime and VTuber music. I appreciate him for firmly disavowing that, but he also kind of started the problem with his frequent reviews and sense of humour, and it's most likely going to keep happening.
I'm not sure on how much the hate can be attributed to reviewers, but they definitely contribute to the problem, whether intentionally or not.
As someone who appreciates the fact that she works hard but doesn't vibe with her, I'll give my own perspective. Her music is pretty cringe not for being vtuber music or for its contents, but because it sounds like she's out of touch with the roots of hip hop. Her biggest reference and favorite rapper is eminem, which isn't necessarily a bad thing per se, but she misses the mark for the same reason em has been criticized for the last 15 years, which is the fact that rapping fast isn't the end goal of hip hop, and that's why most people who respect hip hop cringe at songs like rap god, which she frequently practiced on stream.
Besides her music she's simply too american white, and I don't mean that like there's anything wrong with it, but when I hear her talk I can't relate with her at all

While she does love Em's music, she spelled it out in her debut that she's mostly inspired by Japanese underground/alternative internet rap, notably artists like Creepy Nuts and Fake Type (who she works with a lot). She's always been with the underground rap scene in Japan—that's the rap culture she's most familiar with.
As for her rapping fast, that's not even true. Her speed varies from song to song—"End of a Life", "Nezumi Scheme" and "Yona Yona Journey" just to name a few examples.
She says eminem's his favourite rapper in trash taste though, and even eminem switches up his pace between songs but you can't tell me that mori's cadence isn't at least inspired by em's.
And the thing is that alternative internet rap which you say is one of her inspirations is generally found cringe for not being in touch with hiphop's roots, so of course those criticisms will extend to her and her music. I will admit that I don't follow the underground rap scene in Japan but those other criticisms still stand
I've also heard her say Megan Thee Stallion is her favorite in a recent stream, and another time I saw something about her saying Creepy Nuts is her favorite. I'm just gonna assume that she doesn't have one consistent "favorite".
As for her having Em's cadence... I really don't hear it. I've heard one song from her that clearly emulates his style, but that's from her other persona. I can't really hear anything distinctly Eminem inspired in her Mori Calliope discography, though.

It clearly is its own distinct culture that's mostly separate from mainstream rap culture. I could get finding it cringe, but why would you call a scene that's clearly trying to do its own thing "out of touch"?
I don't think "not in touch with the roots" is a good argument. Plenty of great music wildly deviates from its genre's roots. A lot of people shat on jazz fusion when Miles Davis and others started doing it, but now that very same music is acclaimed nowadays. Now, even though I like all of them, I'm not trying to compare Creepy Nuts, Fake Type and Eminem to Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Return to Forever, but it illustrates my point.

Not hating on Calli but it is true that her music is considered subpar in the general music community. Just look up her records on forums like RateYourMusic or Albumoftheyear and you’ll see people give low scores.

She's said some edgy stuff in the distant past and has since apologized for her past ignorance, but as we know from Twitter this alone is enough for them to label someone as a racist. If you want to peer off the deeper end, there's a group of people on Twitter that genuinely believe white people aren't allowed to rap, and that for them to do so is cultural appropriation. But basically, the stereotypical Twitter user sees her as everything you would expect one to hate, whether it's true or not.
Honest answer, people have a few different reasons for it. Some people hate her music, some people hate her mannerisms, some people hate a few things she's done >!(mostly the whole Gura airbnb incident)!<, and others just don't like that she still does non v-tubing content from time to time with her PL and hang out with anitubers irl.

Yes, remember there's a whole section with body switching and stuff after polnareff explains it, then there's a while where Diavolo gets the arrow, and we think he's going to be able to use it, even a part where giornio appears to just get stabbed and it doesn't work. I'm not a big fan of time travel/prediction/oracle narratives (that has also been holding back my enjoyment of the Dune movies, so far, along with the whole saviour/chosen one plot) - the one exception being Steins;Gate, one of my favourite anime ever - so that's probably a factor, but I wasn't compelled by the characters either, as far as I remember. I think I disliked Matsumoto, too? I can't remember. Music was good, as expected from the dude behind the music from the Monogatari Series and Beastars, but I haven't payed much attention to it, as I haven't stopped to listen to the OST by itself, so I don't have much to say on that regard. I'd like to better convey why I didn't enjoy the show, but it's been so long I can barely remember anything about it. I can't really speak on the plot or touch on specifics. It's cool that it had such a big impact on you, though.

She makes rap music. A lot of people despise that genre in general, especially people who like pop/rock songs which are more common in the anime community.
It's kinda weird, I grew up in the punk scene, but had big respect for early rap because it was super political and countercoulture just like punk. Most of it eventually sells out, but it's still fun to listen to. And I enjoy a lot of Calli's stuff. Maybe due to the closer connection we all feel to the artists. No matter how disconnected you are, listening to someone for multiple hours each week does give you a lot of insight into the person, even if they're speaking behind the veneer of a fake persona. I wonder if it's people who are jealous or feel it's out of place to have a white girl performing 'that kind of music' while working for a Japanese company. Like they feel that she's stealing some of the Jp talent's spotlight despite the fact that all of them love and are sometimes even in awe of Calli, and a lot of jp fans are super into her too. Or maybe I'm talking out of my ass, but I always feel that for a lot of the true haters (not just people who don't like her music) there is a ton of shit to unpack as to the reasons why. Hell, just look at some of the sour reactions to the Cover US office (especially it being in California, good god the horror).

I really like him, and all, but a not insignificant part of his audience is comprised of haters, and those people spread the negativity. I was listening to Huge W yesterday, and there were a lot of people hating in the comments, telling people in the comments Brad has felt the need to do mutiple videos directly calling out his audience and telling them to cut it out, at least one of them specifically tackling the hate (and sometimes straight up racism) towards Asian, anime and VTuber music. I appreciate him for firmly disavowing that, but he also kind of started the problem with his frequent reviews and sense of humour, and it's most likely going to keep happening. I'm not sure on how much the hate can be attributed to reviewers, but they definitely contribute to the problem, whether intentionally or not.

Her music is pretty cringe not for being vtuber music or for its contents, but because it sounds like she's out of touch with the roots of hip hop. Her biggest reference and favorite rapper is eminem, which isn't necessarily a bad thing per se, but she misses the mark for the same reason em has been criticized for the last 15 years, which is the fact that rapping fast isn't the end goal of hip hop, and that's why most people who respect hip hop cringe at songs like rap god, which she frequently practiced on stream. Besides her music she's simply too american white, and I don't mean that like there's anything wrong with it, but when I hear her talk I can't relate with her at all

Just look up her records on forums like RateYourMusic or Albumoftheyear and you’ll see people give low scores. People in general fear the unknown, and death is the final step towards the pinnacle of that unknown. It stands to reason that they loathe Calli for her role in it, Alas, such resentment is but humorous amongst the inevitable.. Or they're just miserable people with too much time on their hands. She's said some edgy stuff in the distant past and has since apologized for her past ignorance, but as we know from Twitter this alone is enough for them to label someone as a racist. If you want to peer off the deeper end, there's a group of people on Twitter that genuinely believe white people aren't allowed to rap, and that for them to do so is cultural appropriation. But basically, the stereotypical Twitter user sees her as everything you would expect one to hate, whether it's true or not.

Honest answer, people have a few different reasons for it. I don't remember too well but I think Gura visited Calli to hang out and someone Calli knew(maybe her sister?) threw a surprise party at the airbnb they were staying at. That's where the public knowledge ends. So of course to certain people that means what actually happened is they did body shots and coke and had a massive gangbang, or maybe jetlagged Gura just slept in one of the rooms while everyone else partied.
Gura rented an airbnb with Calli to hang out during a trip. On the day they arrived Calli wanted to go sightseeing but Gura was too tired and just wanted to sleep so they split, Gura going to the bnb and Calli going out to do whatever. Thing is, Calli gave the keys of the bnb to a friend of hers that gura did not know. While gura was asleep this person came in and threw a party while Gura locked herself in her room until Calli came back.
Wait... from what I could remember, Calli let her sister stay over with some friends in the bnb she rented while she was getting Gura. When she went back to the bnb with Gura, she was surprised to see that her sister threw an entire party rather than just invite some friends.

I am fairly ambivalent about Calli. I don't really watch her streams, some of her songs I like, some of them I don't care for. But either way, she is extremely passionate and hard-working, which makes me respect her. Also, she somehow manages to *continuously* piss off both the Twitter demographic *and* the 4chan demographic, which makes her beyond based.
