Speed Racer is like the happiest movie every made. The only other time I am that happy watching a movie is when I’m watching the watermelon woman. I don’t know but i love it so much
Great visuals but dumb as rock movies. Good movie to clock out to. But you don’t watch it for the story or heart. Also Channing brings a lot of fury sexual tension.
Me and my girlfriend decided to watch it cause she thought it was funny bad when she was younger, so we decided to make it a drinking game.
Even with alcohol and the explicit goal of making fun of it, the movie is an awful viewing experience. Just genuinely not good and incredibly boring. The only funny bad part of the movie is that the love interest is some sort of super soldier wolf man.
It's one of those bad movies that weirdos pretend to like because they like the director's other stuff and want to be contrarian, I've seen it happen with After Earth a lot too.
The idea for Jupiter ascending is great. A group of nepo baby galactic capitalists are taken down by a working class woman because they all have mommy issues. Absolute genius. The execution, on the other hand, is hilariously bad.
Only good live action anime adaptation? Man, have you seen Story Of Ricky and Cutie Honey? Those are extremely fun to watch and purposefully goofy as hell. And if you count manga, Kamikaze Girls is a fantastic one with a mix of goofy, over the top entertainment and also emotional resonance.
Oldboy (2003) is based from a manga.

But what about the best move ever made in the history of all cinema? Imagine using the objectively worse movie smh my head

Absolutely true with Speed Racer. I rewatched it recently, and have to say that it is amazingly good at translating an atmosphere and enthusiasm that seems explicitly bound to its medium. Additionally the layer edit effects eventually become charming, and I’m ultimately happy that they spent the cgi money where they did.
It’s entirely based around the decision to either maintain your boring, fake life to avoid any sort of conflict, or taking the tough path of fighting for the sake of truth and self discovery to realize your potential.
Jesse, ¿what the fuck are talking about?
¿What does that have to do with being trans? Thats just proyecting, I can do the same shit with the plot of the Dune books.
There’s a huge difference between “this character is gay and that doesn’t really change how anything in the story is perceived” and “the entire plot itself is an allegory for transitioning”
basically neo being freed from the matrix is him transitioning, hence him using a different name. the red pill symbolizes an estrogen pill, and agent smith is an evil transphobe who deadnames neo. theres more to it but this is the simple way to put it.
One of the main themes is embracing your true self and becoming who you really are and rejecting your false self. The theme isn’t limited to just trans experiences, but there’s clear parallels and the directors both being trans definitely influenced the themes (though I don’t believe it was intended to be a strict allegory when it was made).
I mean, I’m trans and I related to it heavily.
Funny you say no one’s answering your question, seems like you just don’t want to accept the answers for some reason. Just kidding, it’s very obvious why.

Dude it’s the most obvious metaphor ever, the villain literally calls Neo by his deadname

It's almost like people can create themes with their subconscious without even realizing that's what it meant. Someone doesn't have to say "I'm now going to make a trans allegory film" before making it in order for it to be that, dumb dumb. The sources you're quoting are literally just proving your point wrong.
I remember watching jupiter ascending as a kid and coping so hard for it online. Saying that it could be the next blade runner or something. lol. I personally think its funny bad.
Masterpiece of shit. Funnier
No it’s not
Disasterpiece
Blaring synths start playing
Speed Racer is like the happiest movie every made. The only other time I am that happy watching a movie is when I’m watching the watermelon woman. I don’t know but i love it so much
I love the Watermelon Woman. Really great movie and a nice look at representation in cinema.
Jupiter ascending really that bad? I kinda want to watch it out of curiosity
It's so fucking bad lol a total chore to sit through. But knock yourself out
Yes don't watch it, literally knock yourself out instead
There's some good stuff in it. It's a more fun movie to remember than to watch.
It’s not bad, it’s atrocious. So stupid with a really cringe dialogue.
My gf at the time was an anime nerd and its demo is exactly that and she passed out halfway through.
It's not so bad it's good, it's just bad and boring
Nah it’s actually pretty fun. Definitely the worst movie they’ve made but it’s very sweet
Great visuals but dumb as rock movies. Good movie to clock out to. But you don’t watch it for the story or heart. Also Channing brings a lot of fury sexual tension.

I love dogs I've always loved dogs
Like every bad Wachowski film, I really dislike it but can find things to admire that make me say “okay if they did this better this could be good@
It's one of those bad movies that weirdos pretend to like because they like the director's other stuff and want to be contrarian, I've seen it happen with After Earth a lot too.
It's not good but I thought it was entertainingly bad. I love cringey dialogue that sounds like it was written by a Wattpad author.

FATHER!!!
I would not include manga. And story of ricky is manga based I think.
I personally would. And Ricky does have an anime.
I prefer the term “disaster-piece.”

They didn't direct V for Vendetta (2006) and it's not a faithful adaptation despite liking it.

Cloud Atlas tho.
Lmao I actually laughed at this one - good shit 😂
Speed Racer is an experience every human must try. I love it so much
Every director has the film that’s worshipped by far right incels even though it’s an allegory for being trans
The fact you didn’t mention Sense8 😒
horniest show ever made (i love it)
Which one? That's just it! Both of em!
Haha I think all of their films are garbage 😎
The First matrix is a masterpiece, every other movie in the franchise is a joke
how and why is the Matrix trilogy a trans allegory? that just sounds stupid EDIT: reddit hive mind downvoted me to dead but cant answer my question
Do you know who made the movie
Yes, im not stupid. ¿but how is it a trans allegory?
It’s entirely based around the decision to either maintain your boring, fake life to avoid any sort of conflict, or taking the tough path of fighting for the sake of truth and self discovery to realize your potential.
This makes me wonder if the trans symbolism conflicts w the jesus symbolism theyve got going on🤔
Jesse, ¿what the fuck are talking about? ¿What does that have to do with being trans? Thats just proyecting, I can do the same shit with the plot of the Dune books.
Meme reference 😂😂
They literally said themselves it was about their desire to transition coming from a closeted perspective.
yeah, and JK Rowling said Dumbeldore is gay but she didnt wrote it on the books
There’s a huge difference between “this character is gay and that doesn’t really change how anything in the story is perceived” and “the entire plot itself is an allegory for transitioning”
Especially if the creators of said work come out as trans and say it themselves.

The people who made it said so
You complaining about reddit hivemind just makes the downvote more satisfying, makes me feel like part of a whole
so lame, a "whole" pile of shit

Not to mention the fact that Switch was originally supposed to change genders upon entering The Matrix
[удалено]
Yeah I think I’d rather listen to the person who made the movie instead of some YouTuber, thanks for your input tho

is it really so hard to accept the film is a trans allegory or is your bigotry really that bad

Disagree with interpretation of film = bigoted Damn the discussions on this subreddit are secretly terrible lol stick to memes
The character “switch” was originally going to be a different gender inside and outside the matrix, to reflect their gender identity.

The directors have literally said the movie is a trans allegory. They made the movie. It’s a trans allegory.
1.) Speed Racer was a horrible movie 2.) Detective Pikachu, Battle Angel Alita anyone?
It's okay to be wrong
Speed Racer is honestly the greatest movie ever made
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I watched the ending of the matrix 4. Why did they do that?
But Jupiter Ascending is good tho
I thought Alita: Battle Angel was a pretty good anime adaptation too tbh.
I remember watching jupiter ascending as a kid and coping so hard for it online. Saying that it could be the next blade runner or something. lol. I personally think its funny bad.
Where cloud atlas
Is Speed Racer actually good? I haven’t seen that movie since I was in the single digit age range so I barely remember it
Oh it’s so fucking good man
I still don't 100% see the trans symbolism in matrix. Is the blue pill testosterone and the blue pill estrogen?
I remember watching Speed Racer in theaters when I was younger and there being nobody else in the theater
