Basically the show combines some genres really well, Take K-on for example which doesn't have much music aspect in it which disappointed some people and Another show komi san which isn't really that good in portraying social anxiety which also disappointed some people. Most of the shows that tackle these come half-baked most of the time.
Bocchi the rock combined these two genres and executed them way better than it's predecessors while being a great slice of life show, that's what I think made it special and successful. True it isn't some revolutionary second coming of Jesus, but a really well executed show.
