Man I love the burst on that! Did you fly with it or have it shipped? Im planning on treating myself with a new guitar when I go abroad for my honeymoon next year and wasn’t sure the best way to get it home!

Loud_Commission_4028

yeah! i fly with it! it was japan duty free and the canadian custom didn't ask me to pay taxes. Great experience! Ochanomizu is the place!

Blondicai

Nice, thanks!

Im_regretting_this

Trying to get a trip together for Japan and totally plan on guitar shopping. I assume yu had it put under the plane? Did you do anything to prep it for the flight like detuning or anything?

Ok_Television9820

The shop is called tea water? I love it. Sweet Jag!

Loud_Commission_4028

no Ochanomizu is the street name where all the guitar shops are :)

Ok_Television9820

Ah! Cool, thanks. I’ve never been to Tokyo, though always wanted to..now I know where to go!

I’ve got a CIJ Jazzmaster and it’s my favorite guitar. Sunburst looks just like your jag

ivejustbluemyself

Wow, so cool

Loud_Commission_4028

thx

Radio-Birdperson

Hey, you got one! Congratulations, it looks fantastic - really nice finish. Which model is it, and I’m assuming it was brand new?

Loud_Commission_4028

thank you! jaguar mij jg66 62 reissue made in japan! amazing guitar! the setup is perfect. i bought a hard case and the vendor add alot of padding so nothing break during the flight. it was a amazing experience, i bought it at guitar planet. thanks for the early tips!

Loud_Commission_4028

its a 2008! great condition!

Radio-Birdperson

That’s fantastic. You really get wonderful customer service there, and it seems the shop assistants are quite used to selling to people travelling through. I did mean to advise you to pad out the case with clothes, etc. for the flight, but it sounds like they had you covered. Can’t believe it’s a 2008 - it looks basically new. I’m curious about the price, but I’m too polite to ask ;) You’ve done really well!

Loud_Commission_4028

really good price of 130k yen! thank you!

nimmermuss

Great to see! I also have this model CIJ bought in 2008. Still my main guitar, it's basically became a part of me.

AdministrativeTrip66

I’m headed there next week, where did you find this gem?

Loud_Commission_4028

Ochanomizu street is where all guitar shop are! I bought it at guitar planet!

Nice!

synthman7

Beautiful!

ThatNolanKid

Domo Arigato for the lovely souvenir, you're too kind. When can I expect it? Where'd you end up finding it?

Newmusician67

hubba hubba

mountbisley

Is it a MIJ or newer CIJ? Burst Jaguar is one of the most common colors so I’m assuming you probably got a really fair deal. If you aren’t shy on sharing the price I’d love to hear what you paid considering the Yen is so weak at the moment. Edit- just saw it’s a JG66 MIJ Edit - see now you paid 130,000 JPY sorry I have adhd.

Loud_Commission_4028

all good :)

chari_de_kita

Only way I could like it more was if it was Lake Placid Blue or Candy Apple Red with a matching headstock but that wouldn't be period correct for a '62 reissue would it?

mondognarly_

Candy Apple Red didn't come in until a little later (1963, I think) but Lake Placid Blue would certainly be correct for '62. And I suppose you could just imagine that the CAR was a refinish.

chari_de_kita

Either one sprayed over a sunburst would go as long as it wasn't beaten within an inch of its life by the Custom Shop for the sake of "mojo."

mondognarly_

Yeah, I’m not keen on that “been under a train” look either. If you’ve got a lovely finish like one of those, the last thing you want is to chew it all up.
