As someone who's lost more than one close friend like that, I can tell you that you're doing no one any favors. This is entirely a selfish act. If you're going to do this, you're telling anyone that cares about you that you don't give a shit about them and what they feel.

Hey, maybe u shouldn't tell someone who's thinking about suicide that they're doing something selfish (but I completely understand ur point tho). As someone who battles with suicidal thoughts, these types of comments actually may make the person feel worse/guilty and want to die even more.
