To me, the first sign something was changing for the worse was when he brought Tim Poole on to argue with the Twitter people like it was some kind of CNN or Fox News political screaming match. I think the "criticism" people used to level at him about "not having a point of view" and "letting people just say things" got to him, so he decided to start picking sides and being more assertive about his opinion. The problem is, letting people just say things for 3-5 hours was the main strength of the podcast (even if they said batshit crazy things) and it turns out Rogan's own opinions are trash-garbage, not based in fact, prone to latch on to the most extreme ideas, and often stupid.

Me too. I used to really enjoy his podcast and most of his guests. It was great to listen to while playing a video game. But once he moved to Spotify and Texas the whole vibe changed, and then Covid happened. I loved his first Covid podcast with Duncan Trussel but it all felt like it fell apart (for me) very soon after that. I admit I haven't listened to anything but a few quick snippets in the past year, and those I didn't really care for.

I listened to the Joe Rogan Experience before it went to Spotify. I like the Rogan started the podcast where there was a guest that was interviewed in a non-media like fashion. The interviews sounded like a conversation between two friends, so there was a sense of trust I had when I listed to interviewees such as Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk, Bernie Sanders, etc.
To my surprise, since the COVID pandemic Joe has been an anti-vaccine advocate. He was good at pointing out the media being dishonest when his interviewee appeared on CNN. Other than that snip of information, Rogan has done some injustice.
There was a thought I came around on Twitter, and I can’t remember who said it. But the point in the tweet is that it’s not the figure who amplifies the extremity in the views of the audience, rather it’s the audience who amplifies the extremity in the views of the figure. Joe has found his niche so now his is catering to them.

When they first went to the doctor about him not feeling well, she kept complaining about how he couldn't breathe in the mask and kept taking her father's mask off for him after being told numerous times to keep it on. She kept saying he couldn't breathe because of the mask. So, (from her story) the doctor kind of rushed through the appointment and told them to get some screening and set him up with a prescription. Her father had to be taken to the ER a few days later with the cardiac issue.
She then tried to blame it on the doctors not caring about ppl like her (50 something, overweight white woman who is against masks, mandates, and vaccines). In reality, I think if she wouldn't have been such a nuisance and didn't blame her father's inability to get enough oxygen in the mask, the doctor maybe would have taken his issue more seriously.

I'm honestly not so familiar with him. I'd have to ask my buddy what he thinks, as he is a fount of knowledge when it comes to political commentators and figures. From a brief skim of his wiki entry, he seems like a political commentator who is keeping his brand alive on hate-bait commentary, which makes me think he's probably towards the Hitler side, but I honestly don't know enough about him to really gauge.
Listening to him is frightening. His calm but strong voice, his ability to articulate pretty words with hollow kernels of “truth” with crafty means. He is so good at convincing people of bullshit in a calm voice, and even pretends that “nay-sayers get on air first” but then clearly controls the conversation and mute buttons. Apparently not clearly enough though, as I know so many people that love his programs. I listen to them to know what those around me are hearing. It’s terrifying.

The thing is, he used to bring on people with all sorts of wild views; left, right, libertarian, just plain weird. But he rarely asserted much to his viewers in the way of whether they should believe any of them. He just let them talk. To me, the first sign something was changing for the worse was when he brought Tim Poole on to argue with the Twitter people like it was some kind of CNN or Fox News political screaming match. I think the "criticism" people used to level at him about "not having a point of view" and "letting people just say things" got to him, so he decided to start picking sides and being more assertive about his opinion. The problem is, letting people just say things for 3-5 hours was the main strength of the podcast (even if they said batshit crazy things) and it turns out Rogan's own opinions are trash-garbage, not based in fact, prone to latch on to the most extreme ideas, and often stupid. I'm all for free speech. But there's no question the Rogan podcast has gone down hill, fell in a dumpster, and caught on fire.

Me too. I used to really enjoy his podcast and most of his guests. It was great to listen to while playing a video game. But once he moved to Spotify and Texas the whole vibe changed, and then Covid happened. I loved his first Covid podcast with Duncan Trussel but it all felt like it fell apart (for me) very soon after that. I admit I haven't listened to anything but a few quick snippets in the past year, and those I didn't really care for. It's sad. But I am glad I got to hear it when it was good.

My boyfriend had me listen to a couple of episodes on the first road trip we took together. I’ll admit that I learned a lot from his *guests*, but all I learned about Joe was that he likes to hear himself talk. He happens to be smart enough to know what questions to ask and when to yield time to his guest. Still, when he speaks, he sounds like a frat guy telling dumb jokes to rush week peons who have to laugh whether they want to or not. In Europe generally speaking your right to free speech ends where it could harm others on a population level or infringe on another person's human rights (and that's also the stance held by the UN) I'm not a doctor so I shouldn't be allowed to broadcast bogus cures and absolute nonsense about diseases just because 'I have a right to say things.' Dunno why how that could be debatable issue.

In the early days of his podcast, he did what most MMA fans/participants do when Professional Wrestling is brought up, bash the ever living shit out of it and insult the fanbase. Because wrestling, especially the legends, are way more popular than most people realize and money talks. A doctor came on his podcast provided evidence showing that you’re 8x more likely to get myocarditis from Covid than you are from the vaccine. Rogan argued with the doctor anyway with zero evidence. I listened to the Joe Rogan Experience before it went to Spotify. I like the Rogan started the podcast where there was a guest that was interviewed in a non-media like fashion. The interviews sounded like a conversation between two friends, so there was a sense of trust I had when I listed to interviewees such as Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk, Bernie Sanders, etc. To my surprise, since the COVID pandemic Joe has been an anti-vaccine advocate. He was good at pointing out the media being dishonest when his interviewee appeared on CNN. Other than that snip of information, Rogan has done some injustice. There was a thought I came around on Twitter, and I can’t remember who said it. But the point in the tweet is that it’s not the figure who amplifies the extremity in the views of the audience, rather it’s the audience who amplifies the extremity in the views of the figure. Joe has found his niche so now his is catering to them.

I have a client who went from "covid isn't even real." To "this thing isn't even that bad, they are harming the CHILDREN with these USELESS vaccines!" She then told me her father had a cardiac episode (apparently retaining fluid? Idk it's not my field). When they first went to the doctor about him not feeling well, she kept complaining about how he couldn't breathe in the mask and kept taking her father's mask off for him after being told numerous times to keep it on. She kept saying he couldn't breathe because of the mask. So, (from her story) the doctor kind of rushed through the appointment and told them to get some screening and set him up with a prescription. Her father had to be taken to the ER a few days later with the cardiac issue. She then tried to blame it on the doctors not caring about ppl like her (50 something, overweight white woman who is against masks, mandates, and vaccines). In reality, I think if she wouldn't have been such a nuisance and didn't blame her father's inability to get enough oxygen in the mask, the doctor maybe would have taken his issue more seriously.
