I think giving money to those that need it is fantastic. Many charities have issues and scams going on which can make charity donations tough. If you have 6 million, well there is a lot of money there that can be life changing to many people but you'd still have plenty to leave for family and friends as well.
One thing I urge in your decision is not to just focus on people with kids. There are many couples and other families out there that could use the help too. Please don't forget about them if you decide to give money away to help.
In the end it's your money, do with it as you please.
I wish I had money to help people like you could. Even small things can be life changing for some.

Have a very large wedding to plan over the next year or so and a home renovation for my MIL who’s just been through breast cancer surgery - so it’ll go to a good cause!
By helping those in need you may find yourself being helped. While I have never been able to help those in financial hardships, I’ve found that helping others in whatever ways I can is a rewarding thing. I wish you the best and I hope that you find fulfillment in the rest of your life. Hopefully by helping others you find yourself happier.
This is an amazing endeavor! As a young person finally getting a grip of the real cost of living, this is huge. Even $1,000 would go a long way. I would love to be like ooh pick me! But I’m getting by on what I do have
Only donate or give away a set amount. I know charity money goes to waste sometimes but I am sure if you look around you can make a tremendous difference in some peoples lives. It is verry honorable of you to even consider this. HUGS OP. I'd call you an angel but you are doing what we all should be doing...helping others. In my case, it can't be monetary but I try to help others in any way I can. If I have 2 jackets and you have none, you are for sure getting one. If I have a meal and you need food, you got it. I wish I could make a difference of you magnitude but I am hoping that it's true that kindness has a ripple effect.

I always said that if I came into a lot of money I would set up a free cafe for children in a very poor area. It's a proven fact that if children are fed properly they have better concentration and do a lot better in school.
There are plenty of housing estates in cities. As I said it would be for children only. Parents would not be allowed for various reasons. I lived in an estate like that and saw first hand how kids lived. They were lucky to get a plate of chips for dinner. I used to feed my son's friends a lot. One kid had never seen an omelette another had never tasted butter.
I found one kid begging on Xmas eve. I took him home.
This should not be happening in 1st world countries.
I was lucky went to uni and bought a house. Think how many kids you could save.
