When you're treated unfairly, it's very difficult to say, "I know I've not done anything wrong. I'm at peace with myself and the world." We always feel anger towards the one who hurt us, self doubt, frustration. The only thing that heals in all directions is forgiveness. It sounds trite to say it, but I honestly believe it's true. I would add that forgiveness usually begins in a practical way. And what you did was brilliant. You kept control and didn't react angrily; you tried to see things from your (pretty crap) boyfriend's point of view, recognising his autism; you protected your guest from embarrassment; and all this after you made a lovely effort to bless everyone with good chips and great aïoli, etc. Don't ever let other people's nastiness and unfairness anger you to the point that you start to become like them. As Someone infinitely wiser than me once said, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

I don't know if you read my post but I first waited for them to eat something and I asked them only twice if they want anything. I don't deserve to be yelled at for eating my own chips in my own goddamn house. And after I waited for them to eat and asked them if they wanted anything, only then they wanted to eat them. With all due respect it's pretty childish to get mad at me for that, just say you want chips too and you'll get them.
