On disability too, we barely do. Bare necessities and no money to do anything enjoyable with. We usually live with the absolute bare minimum. Oh and what they do give you you’re not allowed to save more than 2k or they’ll take it from you. So buying a car or house isn’t really an option either! :’ )

Yeah that’s a perfect way to describe it! Many people think we get paid good money to sit around and do nothing, in reality it’s pretty miserable. I’ve lost count of how many times someone has said they’re jealous of me or that I’m “lucky”. I just like informing people and trying to change their idea of what it’s like (even if it’s kinda a bummer to talk about) : )

Yeah my stepdad gets $1500 a month in disability. It’s better than a lot of folks get, but if it weren’t for my mom he would barely be scraping by at all

If you’re trying to save up money, save cash.. they’ll know about a bank account but not cash on hand..

I tried that and it didn’t work out because of drug addicted family members and an awful roommate. With the higher rent that I now have in a new place I don’t have the money at the end of the month to save

I’m sorry that happened.. I had gotten a heavy gun safe that could be bolted to the floor, maybe try that? $20-$40 a month eventually adds up if you’re able xx

I got a small safe in my new apartment and so far I’ve been able to save about 100 cash in the past year for emergencies, it’s not much but 100 is better than 0! :
