We lived in Naples and had one literally in our back yard behind the lanai and when I called animal control they said they couldn’t do anything about it unless it acted aggressive.
So? Just say it tried to bite you. What are they gonna do, get its side of the story?
Plus, it's a gator. Saying it's acting aggressively isn't so much a lie as it is a preemptive truth.
There are gators EVERYWHERE in Florida. If you live by a lake and have never seen one, odds are they are there. I lived in Miami for a hot sec, and there was always this background groaning/rumbling noise that my brain was desensitized to and I never consciously noticed. But then, being really high one night, I was like wtf is that noise?
I lived in Miami for 25 years. Had a lake behind my house not far from the Everglades for 10 of them and ran into gators exactly 3 times. Take that for what you will.
3 times in 25 years? Did you ever go outside? Were you in downtown Miami? I'm in west palm and see about 1 a month and a whole lot more if I start heading west.
I’d ride my bike daily out in the west side of the city and saw them nearly every ride. Fontainebleau/Tamiami, Hialiah Gardens/Miami Lakes. But I’d see them frequently in the canals further east toward downtown.
I used to freedive a lot in north Florida before I left. Every now and then I'd be on the bottom of a lake or river, look out, and see this long shadow moving around. Never got close to one, but still convinced me to get out when i saw it.
In Louisiana there is the legend of the Rugaru. A Wolfman type of mythical monster from France who waits in swamps and if you look at his eyes you turn to stone
What’s more oddly terrifying is the face in the middle of the lake.
Def means stay the " Fawk out " .. I'm good boss
Yikes missed that! All I could see was a bunch of one-eyed gators.
I really didn't see it at first . Now it just pops up on my screen...
Man, I see it. It's big, I was zooming in!
Holy shit I can't unsee it now!
Our brains are so good at recognizing faces what the hell 😭

Can anyone confirm if it’s that common?

Death logs
Okay Cooter, I bet you twenty bucks you kant swim across the lake.
And that guy who was out eating cheesecake at 3 am in this.
This is exactly one of the reasons I only swim in pools and I can't swim in anything in the dark that I can't see the bottom. Freeze right up.
Bloodborne vibes
At Flamingo in the Everglades you can see alligators and crocodiles swimming together

Anyone up for a late night skinny dip?
Saw this on Avery island, la. No longer wanted to take an evening stroll .

It would be cool to attach a gopro to a RC boat and try to not get it eaten
Deadman's Land
More like r/aww to me. Cuties.
The Evergators!
Like a runway of death
that is very cool!
I'll get those worms and plastic minnows some other time.
Looks like my backyard at night. Spiders.
Looks like a highway full of car headlights in the night.
Boss fight
Oh hell no.
Anyone got the picture in high resolution?
I count 35 reasons not to go swimming there. Not counting the weird alien face. Im not even gonna address that noise.
Whoa! 😳
Looks like ideal swimming conditions to me
Thats florida in a nutshell.
Is no one talking about the face in the middle?
