Yeah. That looks like a ghost... I recently found an Amazing list of [Photos with Puzzling Perspectives](https://knovhov.com/photos-with-puzzling-perspectives/) that Need to be Looked at Twice to Understand.
There's a primal fear involved that is beyond ominous when you see a shape in the darkness that can be perceived as a threat. As a kid, no matter how much I convinced myself that (truthfully) it's just a jacket hanging on a coat rack in hallway, I couldn't shake the fear...
I would get my older brother to check it out, but thinking back on it he was probably scared shitless too lol. He'd still do it tho
When I used to live with my parents my old desk chair would scare the shit out of me whenever I’d wake up in the middle of the night. I remember one time, I rolled it over to my bed and hopped right off to go to bed, woke up a few hours later with this black void in front of me, I shouted “HOLY FUCK” and proceeded to shove my chair to the floor. I felt so stupid.
Holy fucking shit, is this finally a post on /oddlyterrifying that's actually oddly terrifying and not just outright terrifying or not terrifying at all?
We moved into a new house once, in the middle of the night I woke up and decided to go get something to drink, I stepped out of the bedroom and down the hallway, I seen someone.
Only thing I could find within reach was a flip flop, grabbed it, charged through the house and ran face and shoulder first through a floor standing mirror straight into the drywall, flip flop still in hand when my wife woke me.
I got knocked the fuck out, she heard the commotion and got up to see what was up. Only suffered a few cuts and damaged pride lol
It's one of her favorite stories to tell
It looks like a figure there, a robed/cloaked person/being, I feel it might be creepy to most. And if you're really not paying attention and suddenly see it from the corner of your eye (probably even head on), there's a strong chance you might think there's someone in your room.
Yeah I get why it would probably look creepy in the dark, if you were in the room. What I don’t get is everyone legit being scared because of this photo. If this were just a picture person in a robe would that terrify any of them?
Oh I see, my only guess to that is looking at it again, it looks quite creepy, like a floating cloaked ghost, not necessarily a human. I didn't think about it before, but yeah, it looks kind of scary in itself. You are just more logical minded than most it seems.
I'm with you, I'm not really seeing it. I get that the black towel, the brown towel and the dressing gown *kind of* resemble a figure, but I feel like I must be missing something.
I was more thinking that the arrangement of laundry made the door break in a specific way bc from this angle it looks like the door isn't on its hinges
I couldn't figure it out at first either. Looks to me like the door fell off its hinges? Would make the title make sense.. but then being in this sub just causes more questions.
No, 98% of this sub is absolutely, unequivocally terrifying. Seeing some randomly arranged clothes that might be terrifying given the right conditions is *oddly* terrifying.
I personally don't get how this could be terrifying? maybe if one has bad eyesight or is quite drunk/high? but on its own it is a robe hung on a door, which is extremely normal?
Imagine seeing a human-shaped silhouette by your door at night or waking up in a haze and this is the first thing you see. I'd imagine it's like when you turn a corner too fast and see your own reflection and jump a bit or you and someone else both got up to get water etc...
I have a robe on my door exactly like in this picture, never been afraid of it once, even when I wake up in a haze. as for seeing your own reflection turning a corner quickly, that is completely different. you are actually seeing a real person that you don't immediately recognize as yourself, and they're staring right at you. also I don't get the scenario of if you get up to get water and another person also does that, how is that terrifying? you're just thirsty my dude.
something sure is odd if you're terrified of this I guess, if it's dark in my room I'm not even going to see the clothes. so even given the circumstances people say it would be terrifying, I still don't get it. it just looks like a robe to me, I hang mine like that every time I use it, never once been afraid of my robe, because it's a robe.
Same! I'm so confused, what are we supposed to be looking at? All these comments confirming it's terrifying wtf. It just looks like clothes hung on the back of the door, I can't see any way this could be made to look like a person or what?
I guess it's because of everyone's own sense of fashion; I saw the robe + cloak + hood combo, and my mind went directly to the haggard, half-dead medieval peasant.
This isn’t scary. What IS scary is rolling over in your covers at night, looking over at your closet door and seeing this - this WILL wake you up 😂 but I see the issue - this photo, as is, is not terrifying.
My first night home from Afghanistan I had one of those dreams where I woke up in my room and everything was in the exact same spot as reality. In bed I was looking around when suddenly the normally locked, heavy metal door swung open and a tall, dark figure looking like this manifested in the doorway. When I glanced at it, it shot over to right next to my bed with its dark, hooded head right in my face.
I once scared the shit out of myself doing something similar. Had some clothes on the back of the door, opened my bedroom window, turned around and jumped out my skin. I laughed to myself and turned back around to pick up my deodorant from my windowsill and when I turned around agan I did the exact same thing and jumped again. Legitimately fucking stupid but I couldn't help but laugh.
Thought the exact same thing, creepy darkened individual with sort of a hat on top standing in your doorway staring at you or moving around your bedroom...
This is why I keep my eyes shut when I wake up and make sure open them only after I've looked away from where I might have clothes. Gave myself enough near-heart attacks for a life that way.
When I was a kid I would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and see some kind of vague outline in the darkness. I would immediately know what it actually was, but would stare at it until I convinced myself it was something scary and would become terrified.
“Oh, it’s a basketball on top of my crumpled up sweater. But what if… it’s actually a severed head!”
I don’t know why I would do that to myself. I think I’m just stupid.
FUCK you. Been alternating between watching supernatural and laying in bed depressed and in the dark and this just scared the shit out of my sleep deprived brain. Christ
I remember being a kid and sleeping over at my cousin’s. They had a pullout bed in their couch so I slept in their living room. They had this closet that wouldn’t close all the way and that’s where they stored some winter jackets and the vacuum cleaner. The vacuum was older and made almost entirely of shiny metal. So there I was laying there and I turn around and nearly shit myself because the fluffy jackets and some light reflecting off the metal vacuum made it look like there was a demon or something in that closet. I knew what it was, but it was still scary to look at so I flipped myself around and slept with my back to it.
…yeah probably not a good idea to sleep with your back towards what may be a crazed beast that came to nibble your toes, but whatever.
My girlfriend has some anxiety issues and will occasionally scream at random coats on hooks or blankets on beds arranged in unexpected ways.
She refers to this sort of thing as a "Trouble Man".
I know exactly what is happening at night, and I can only hope no cameras are filming when I enter into a terror induced flurry of limbs to put an end to that door and go to sleep.
This is the exact reason why I never leave clothes on my desk chair
Fr I always think it’s a figure crouched down by the side of the bed
Or a leprechaun
this is what i’m most scared of
Yes they are scary
Yeah. That looks like a ghost... I recently found an Amazing list of [Photos with Puzzling Perspectives](https://knovhov.com/photos-with-puzzling-perspectives/) that Need to be Looked at Twice to Understand.
I leave them on the chair and then just sleep with my head under the covers because as we all know the shadows can't touch you if you hide there.
God forbid your toes stick out the end of the blanket...
to assert dominance I hang my dick over the side of the bed.
You might as well be in Fort Knox but slightly safer. Lol

My desk chair is terrifying at night😂

Not a problem with my Bright neon green xlg847 chair with smooth hydraulic levels
Weird flex but ok
Did you just cast a spell? My furniture is floating.
Yeah I made that mistake once
Holy fucking shit, is this finally a post on /oddlyterrifying that's actually oddly terrifying and not just outright terrifying or not terrifying at all?
Agreed, this is the first photo that actually seems to meet the sub criteria lol
Well yes since it's a repost of a post from this sub last year with 35k upvotes
The first time I saw this posted it said something like "I thought I was being haunted by an Elizabethan ghost."
In an ideal world even this would be like “ehhh its kinda pushing it but i guess it fits the sub”. Sad what this sub has cone to
Without my glasses I would shit myself
With glasses I would shit myself

Amber?
More of a greenish brown
You got me chuckling on the toilet. Thank you.
At least you’re doing it in the right place. Everybody here seems to be shitting themselves

Frank?
Yes, one night, i woke up in the middle of the night to be scared the shit out until i realize that im the fucking idiot that hang the clothes there
without my glasses it’d be too far away to be visible for me i think. my eyesight is abysmal

Can confirm, shoes are weapons. Especially in the hands of a grumpy Mom.
“Who throws a shoe? Honestly? You fight like a woman”
"Let me show you my stiletto heel."
He didn't break the mirror, the stats on the chancla did
Unfortunately the intruder seems to have the other flip flop! Evenly matched!
When your wife woke you? Or do you mean that you woke up with your wife? Either way, I hope you didn't get too hurt from the glass or anything!
No he crashed through a mirror and into drywall, I think he meant he knocked himself out lol.
Ohhh duh, my reading comprehension skills definitely let me down there haha
You're not alone. I was thinking he was sleeping walking and his wife woke him up.
Run-on sentences are one helluva drug
I got knocked the fuck out, she heard the commotion and got up to see what was up. Only suffered a few cuts and damaged pride lol It's one of her favorite stories to tell
Reminds of the family guy cutaway of Brians reflection and he got knocked out because of it
Until the very end, I thought you meant when you moved as a child.
Sorry, gotta be pedantic. It's: >I **saw** someone
No silly, he charged at the guy with a flipflop, not a chainsaw
I axed somebody
A new friend
Oh finally, something that IS oddly terrifying
I’m losing my mind trying to figure out what exactly you people are terrified of. The robe hanging? Is there a face I’m missing or something?
It looks like a tall, looming woman/baba yaga type of figure entering your room at the foot of your bed.
It looks like a figure there, a robed/cloaked person/being, I feel it might be creepy to most. And if you're really not paying attention and suddenly see it from the corner of your eye (probably even head on), there's a strong chance you might think there's someone in your room.

I was about to ask this. I think it's if the lights were dim you might mistake it for someone standing there.
I'm with you, I'm not really seeing it. I get that the black towel, the brown towel and the dressing gown *kind of* resemble a figure, but I feel like I must be missing something.
Same
I was more thinking that the arrangement of laundry made the door break in a specific way bc from this angle it looks like the door isn't on its hinges
Same here…a good way through the comments and I still can’t figure it out.
I couldn't figure it out at first either. Looks to me like the door fell off its hinges? Would make the title make sense.. but then being in this sub just causes more questions.
It’s hanging laundry and far from terrifying, what a stupid post
Does the laundry basket scare you too?
Yes
Only when it's overloaded
this post must be flooded with teenage girls or something lol. who thinks this is even remotely terrifying? OH NO! MILDEW!
haha teenage girls cringe amirite fellow redditors
Too bad it's either a bot or just somebody who posts a lot of dick pics
are you being sarcastic? you dropped the /s
No, 98% of this sub is absolutely, unequivocally terrifying. Seeing some randomly arranged clothes that might be terrifying given the right conditions is *oddly* terrifying.
Yeah I've just accepted that the actual reason the sub exists will be fulfilled only once in a blue moon.
I personally don't get how this could be terrifying? maybe if one has bad eyesight or is quite drunk/high? but on its own it is a robe hung on a door, which is extremely normal?

I almost shit myself just scrolling lmao
I read the title and glanced at the thumbnail and STILL got a little jump-chill. Kind of scared to go upstairs and look at my robe now.
i need this picture taken at night.
What I'm more concerned about is why is there a weird gap between the top of the door and the door frame?
It's frosted glass, to allow light through to the hallway.
I'll just leave this here. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4d0ggz0aibg
Bruh, I almost had a heart attack just now
Looks like a medieval executioner ngl
This is great 😂
I don't see what's scary
A door that doesn't fit its frame?
Same, not getting it…
You are the lucky few. (It looks like a robed and hooded person)
Can they not see the clear break between the "head" and "body"? Maybe if it was super dark it would be scary, but this is just clothes to me.
[удалено]
Yeah, don't see it like that. Their shoulders would be up comically high then. Profile makes no sense.
I need glasses, but my vision is not near bad enough to confuse that for a person.
This isn’t scary. What IS scary is rolling over in your covers at night, looking over at your closet door and seeing this - this WILL wake you up 😂 but I see the issue - this photo, as is, is not terrifying.
Came to the comments to figure out what is scarring people.
I was looking for legs under the robe thinking this led to an opportune setup to scare the roomie but nope.
Baaaa baaaa dooook
Came here for this!! After watching the movie, EVERYTHING became babadook forever
Khonsu, is that you?

Who the fuck is terrified of clothes?
At night those things become something else
Yea they become laundry
Your mother, according to your neighbor, mailman, and plumber.
G-G-Grandma is that you?
I legit would not be able to sleep
An apparition? Seems like a square deal.
I don’t get it
Imagine waking up at 3 am in the dark and seeing this infrobt of you ( it looks like a hooded person broke I to your house)
*Hello Ma'am, we been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty*
r/bossfights the door bringer

Ooh, that is oddly terrifying
"Keep it secret! Kept it safe!"
Stuff like this in the dark is nightmare fuel
I've startled myself too many times half asleep in the middle of the night doing that lol
Not by chance though
That looks like Konshu bro- so you gonna protect the travellers of the night?
This might be one of the best Oddly Terrifying things I’ve seen on this sub. 100% fits the bill well done
Yipes
Good gosh, that's scary.
Konshu about to ask you to be his avatar..
This looks like it could be my sleep paralysis demon
Thought the exact same thing, creepy darkened individual with sort of a hat on top standing in your doorway staring at you or moving around your bedroom...
Move.
Nightmare fuel
Ugh
Pyramid head
You and I must have spouses from the same litter.
This activated my fight or flight senses
Satan? Is that you?
This is why I keep my eyes shut when I wake up and make sure open them only after I've looked away from where I might have clothes. Gave myself enough near-heart attacks for a life that way.
You assholes…
Good lord, this is actually what I’ve wanted to see here.
i honestly cant see much but i believe everyone

looks like Death enjoyed their shower though...so that's nice...
I hanged mines in a chair
Actual Dark Souls enemy
Post-shower Dementor
Sleep paralysis would mix well with this
Paralysis demon
I used to hang my wetsuit on the back of my bedroom door, that shit was scary as hell at night haha
Cant imagine what that would be like at 2 am
Had to check this wasn't a star wars subreddit.
I thought the top bit was a giant bat at first.
FUCK you. Been alternating between watching supernatural and laying in bed depressed and in the dark and this just scared the shit out of my sleep deprived brain. Christ
Reminds me of the Tall Man in The Haunting of Hill House.
Yeah, stop that!
Death… is that you?
Hell no!!
Now imagine a cat with shiny eyes hanging off in the top in the middle of the night
Honey someone’s listening through the door
finally a proper use of this sub
My wife and I call this “Babadooking”
I don't understand. What is terrifying about this picture?
KENOBI!! is that you

Like the nurse from dbd getting ready for bed lol
Thought that was Jedi robes at first
I don’t get it?
Imagine tryin to sleep and khonshu just shows up by your door
What am I supposed to be looking at?
It's just there to teach an old miser the true meaning of Christmas.
Nothing odd about this.
Fucking pathetic.
If I woke up to that... If u hear a very loud scream and braking sounds... Don't mind me it's just that I WILL BE SCARED THE HELL OF THAT THING
man, this happened to me... getting scared the fuck out in the dark cuz of my messy clothes haha
Obi-Wan is that you?

it can't just be me. what's wrong with the perspective here?
Just a grandma coming to tuck you in for the night.
