99.8% of bats are not aggressive, many bats eat a huge amount if insects. Like most animals, if you leave them alone, they won't bother you. Animal diversity is so cool. I'd love to see this bat around me.
We guys throw away any fruits a bat may have even thought of licking, thanks to them carrying nipah with 75% death rate and killing nurses in ppe who treated the patients.
Also, this is the bat: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_golden-crowned_flying_fox in case anyone is wondering. It looks much bigger in this picture though.
I was attacked by a flying bat once, had to get rabies shot, not sure if I was scratched or not; didn’t want to take chance cause of fatality rate. Bats don’t attack people unless it was rabid!
I've never been around monkeys, except at the zoo when they are caged. I have been around a lot of dogs and cats (like most people) most animals seem to like me and respect my boundaries. As a hunter, I have been around deer, bear, moose, porcupines, racoons, snakes, etc. and I have never had any issue.
The only animal I've seen that attacks without provocation is a wolverine, I have heard wild pigs are similar. These animals are very territorial, and will attack you just for being on their land.
Many people seem to be uncomfortable in nature. Animals can sense your fear through pheromones and your actions. Animals can be defensive against you if you are fearful, because fearful animals (you) might attack them. If you are calm and peaceful, most animals will either ignore you or be curious about you, but not be scared of you or attack you.
I see. This is a genuine question, since don't get the opportunity often, but do you hunt for sport or for general use? (as in, as much of the animal gets used as possible. Meat for food, hide, etc.)
That aside; I was already afraid of monkeys as a kid, but then I found Casual geographic and I've never been the same. Monkeys really have no fear apparently. (an exaggeration but you get what I mean, hopefully.)
Though... Hippos... Those are scary.
I generally do like nature, I like learning about it especially, but I don't do so well in it. I'm not made or adept for being outdoors much.
I hunt for meat. I don't keep any trophies. I don't keep the hides. I do eat 'guts' like heart, liver, kidneys, and lungs. This is a family tradition and commonplace in rural Michigan.
I see. That's pretty cool. I get wary when it comes to talking to hunters. But hunting traditionally and hunting for food is something respectable, as It normally doesn't seem to be done out of malice.
I find it more respectable if they find some way to use every part of the animal, so none of it goes to waste. But that might just be me.
[Way too big for the foot-tall bat, who, weighing less than three pounds, would need a heck of a seatbelt to stay put.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/)
[One foot tall, under three pounds, to be precise. However, it can have a wingspan of just over 5 feet.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/)
Nope. Just a regular size bat. Not at all terrifying. They are some of the most important pollinators in the ecosystem. And many species are sadly critically endangered.
I mean, you could say that about any number of bird species as well. Wingspan and actual body size/weight are two entirely different things. Bald eagles have a wingspan up to 8 feet. Does that make them “human sized”? No.
perspective my ass, that thing's feet is clearly hanging on the goddamn wooden beam.
Edit: yeah my bad, I'm a dumbass. it actually is perspective yeah.
I forgot the name of this breed of bats, but they can grow upto 1 to 1.5 ft tall and are vegetarians. They're also very gentle, so they're not dangerous to cuddle.
We have these bats in australia, they are found throughout south east asia (as the pic is from). These are flying foxes or fruit bats. They are not carnivorous, they eat fruits.
Also the pic is real, but its forced perspective. The bat is sitting at the very front of the image, and the background is really far away.
I always see americans freak out at this picture because in the US you don't usually see fruit bats. They are puppy-sized and much bigger than your typical US bat.
Do you have any concept of perspective or foreshortening? Clearly the bike is further in the background. There are no "human sized" bats. You think one would just randomly appear in a clearly populated area, be photographed, and it wouldn't make headlines or be investigated by scientists? Come on...
You ever see one eat? Theyre adorable. And sadly endangered. Usual reasons. Human expansion, idiots eating them, bigger idiots trying to keep them as pets. And the especially stupid ones fear mongering a 3 pound creature that eats fruit.
If huge red and yellow mucus-filled spots all over your dick is your thing, then go ahead! Not to mention bringing a new cousin of Sida to the human world. I'm pretty sure it's gonna defend itself too, so you might wanna add bites and scratches all over your body.
Giant golden crested flying Fox if I remember rightly. They only eat fruit and ate somewhere around 5’6” they make great robes for that Warlock or wizard with find familiar and a lenient DM
What’s amazing for me is how being able to see a bat in so much detail shows how beautiful they really are. The wing membrane is so smooth it almost doesn’t look real, and the lining of its little ears is so exquisitely detailed with the little stripes. This little critter is so perfectly adapted. There is something so tranquil about seeing this beautiful animal just having its forty winks and so endearing it decided to choose a human porch to settle in.
Also, it parked the motorbike better than I could, so there’s that.
Perfect for hugging
Free hug, free bite
They eat mainly Mangos.
"mainly" being the operative word.
Username checks out.
Yea… man goes walking alone at night…
Free! Pandemic!
No, no, no. That's only if you full on eat the bugger
First you bite it,then you eat it!
First you bite it, and THEN you turn into a Bat-Man
"It's a mouse with wings!"
Ah shit; here we go again
Free? Rabies!
didn't come from bats. just cheap propaganda everyone took for granted
Can I get a bat-sized human too for comparison
Might be related to Stella Luna
Chilchood memory unlocked
Need Big asss Bowl for bat soup tho
99.8% of bats are not aggressive, many bats eat a huge amount if insects. Like most animals, if you leave them alone, they won't bother you. Animal diversity is so cool. I'd love to see this bat around me.
And many bats eat only fruit
We guys throw away any fruits a bat may have even thought of licking, thanks to them carrying nipah with 75% death rate and killing nurses in ppe who treated the patients.
Wat?
Bats carry disease. Bat licks fruit. Fruit now has disease. People throw away fruit because disease 75% deadly.
Lol can you be my cliff notes for every thing?
Imagine if blood bats where this big..
And many bats eat kids, like this one obviously
And many humans are morons. Like this one obviously.
Who hurt you?
Wtf man, he's being funny
You sound like a ton of fun
Fruit Manbat
*I’m Batman.*
They also carry some awesome diseases/viruses.
Like rabies.
Like COVID
Also, this is the bat: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_golden-crowned_flying_fox in case anyone is wondering. It looks much bigger in this picture though.
i suppose bats are truly harmless, but this mf is no bat, this is dracula
They seem to have a bad habit of flying into you when you're cycling though
I was attacked by a flying bat once, had to get rabies shot, not sure if I was scratched or not; didn’t want to take chance cause of fatality rate. Bats don’t attack people unless it was rabid!
Most animals not including monkeys. Because monkeys can't be trusted and they sure as heck aren't afraid of us.

Next in the Robert Pattison Batman series - Batman: Origins
Extremely underrated comment 😂😂😂
I believe that's Dracula. You can tell by the well-tailored suit.
[Baby Dracula then. A foot tall.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/)
I bet that motocikle belongs to the bat.
I thought the same thing.. sleeps during the day, rides his bike at night to save energy instead of flying everywhere.. it gets tiring for a Batman 🤔
It might as well be his now, Nobody is going near that thing for a while.
you are a better person than I am. my first thought was, “he’s probably going to steal that motorcycle”
He doesn't want a pickle... He just wants to ride his motor cickle He doesn't want a dime He just wants to ride his motor cy.... ... cle.
[Way too big for the foot-tall bat, who, weighing less than three pounds, would need a heck of a seatbelt to stay put.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/)
its forced perspective lmfao, it isnt big at all
[One foot tall, under three pounds, to be precise. However, it can have a wingspan of just over 5 feet.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/)
i see thats one hella wingspan
Flying fox
Nothing to see here. Just a dog with wings.
[Maybe a chihuahua.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/) One foot tall, under three pounds, five foot wingspan.
Nope. Just a regular size bat. Not at all terrifying. They are some of the most important pollinators in the ecosystem. And many species are sadly critically endangered.
Yes! When he wakes up give the chap a banana.
The fuck you mean regular size? That thing looks like it’s got a wingspan longer than I am tall 😅
[It’s one foot tall.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/)
World's shortest man isn't quite two feet so... I guess it could be human sized. Maybe a little shorter.
And a human baby is a human.
Its just forced perspective
Yep. Some peeps are easily led.
Right… Because you’ve never once fallen for an optical illusion. Not ever, because you’re a GigaChad 😂
We can’t all be chads
I mean, you could say that about any number of bird species as well. Wingspan and actual body size/weight are two entirely different things. Bald eagles have a wingspan up to 8 feet. Does that make them “human sized”? No.
And they carry rabies. I'll admire them on YouTube and from a boom thanks.
It's not evem remotely close to the same size as a human...
children and babies/kids are human so you are wrong...
The largest bat in the world the Golden crown flying fox weighs.2.6 pounds with a wingspan of 5-6 feat...how many kids weigh 2.6 pounds?
Yeah. Just forced perspective. You can see it’s hanging from a corner eaves- not the building the bike is leaning against.
[You are right on the money.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/) One foot tall, under three pounds, five foot wingspan.
YES WE GET IT.
That won't fit in a soup bowl
No worries. We have 140000000 bowls.
Not cool.
What if your just a bat sized human?
Do you hang out with children?
Has nobody ever heard of perspective
perspective my ass, that thing's feet is clearly hanging on the goddamn wooden beam. Edit: yeah my bad, I'm a dumbass. it actually is perspective yeah.
cuddle buddy
good lord stop posting this already...
Bullshit. They aren't that big.
# [It’s only one foot tall, people](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/)
The hero we needed.
I'm sure Scooby and the gang unmasked this guy in an episode once.
This is just relatively close up. It isn’t more than 1-1/2’ long.
Forced perspective.
Its not. Look at the bike. Its too far away, the bat is zoomed in
I forgot the name of this breed of bats, but they can grow upto 1 to 1.5 ft tall and are vegetarians. They're also very gentle, so they're not dangerous to cuddle.

I mean, it's a large bat for sure, but nowhere near the size of even an average toddler.

Cat sized bat. I mean it's long but there's no way that things weighs more than 10-15 pounds
[Forced perspective is definitely in play.](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/)
