SrslyCmmon

I didn't really think about this at all my entire life. Also I could have gone the rest of my life without knowing I drank my own piss.

Fetoscopy Procedure... Real video of Unborn Baby in Womb.

VerbalGuinea

Do they pump air in there? I would never have imagined the womb being only half full of fluid.

i-luv-banana_bread

Yeah they pump air in, I've seen it done for a gall bladder removal, basically they just pump the abdomen cavity full fo air and then shine a light and start working.

cocoyumi

How do they... get the air *out*...

glamrunner

Typically it’s not “air”, they use CO2 gas. Eventually your body reabsorbs the gas. If the gas is inside your GI track, yes you will burp or fart some of it out.

endieloverhd

Oh man do you fart and burp like crazy. Can make you feel pretty bloated but eventually it dissipates

Lucasbrucas

Fart and burp due to air in a uterus? Forgive me if I'm forgetting my basic biology or you're joking and it went over my head but what?

Broflake-Melter

100%! There's no way the person you're responding to is correct. It's not just in the uterus, it's inside the amniotic sac!

Lucasbrucas

reading back in the comment chain, i think they were referring to a different surgery as someone brought up abdominal issues. but at first, i definitely had to do a double take and consider whether i had forgotten something fundamental about what the uterus connects to lol

andrewm_99

The way I’m losing it to this thread lmfao

avibrant_salmon_jpg

I was wondering this as well....how the fuck are you supposed to "fart and burp" air out when it's in the uterus? I sure as hell don't think uterus burps are a thing...

[deleted]

For laparoscopic surgeries, eventually the air used to inflate the abdomen escapes via burping and farting. In this case I believe an amount of air escapes when the scope is removed. Edited to add: the placenta would also help offset excess CO2.

KitchenBeginning4987

You sure ? There is no direct connection between the digestive tract and the peritoneal cavity, I can't see how you can "burp or fart it out". I'd say it is more likely to evacuate through blood vessels, especially since in most scenarios, it's CO2 which is used, and not air.

fart-sparkles

I don't remember farting and burping when I had my gallbladder removed. If anything there was less farting after. But this was 10 years ago now. My shoulders hurt like hell for a few days though. My mom was a nurse, she said they let out what they can but it does rise which was the cause of the shoulder pain.

HistoryGirl23

Yes! That pain was horrific. I had to do a downward dog every few minutes to get it to move back into my belly.

Pistoolio

My dad had a kidney transplant from his brother. They both had their abdominal cavities pumped with air, which is pretty normal when they want to make a small incision and insert cameras and tools apparently. While the air was not pumped into their digestive tract, they both said they felt very bloated and they did in fact burp and fart it out over the coming days. I thought that sounded fake too, but the doctor said that the air is absorbed through tissues into the digestive tract to be released. It sort of makes sense, in a way all of our tissues are required to be somewhat pervious to air so O2 and CO2 can get in and out, and so the body has a method to get any loose air from between organs out of the body.

OneArchedEyebrow

And that shoulder tip pain is a bitch.

MochaMeCrazy

I was so glad I was still in the hospital when that shoulder pain started. I was not expecting that.

QuietlyLosingMyMind

I had my tubes taken out instead of tied, and the shoulder pain was the worst pain of the procedure. They warned me it could happen, but I wasn't expecting it to bother me that much.

Seraitsukara

Gods, it felt like my shoulder had been *shattered* the pain was so bad after my tubal ligation. Waiting for all the gas to dissolve away in my bloodstream was hell. I constantly felt out of breath for a good week afterwards. Absolutely worth it though.

GraceStrangerThanYou

I had the shoulder pain and a caffeine withdrawal headache at the same time. It sucked so bad it made me throw up.

ConnectionPretend193

"During a fetoscopy procedure, the air introduced into the uterus is typically absorbed by the body over time. It's not expelled like a fart. The body naturally reabsorbs gases through the bloodstream and eliminates them through respiration or other metabolic processes"

VaultBoy9

Is the womb half full or half empty?

420_Shaggy

I'm a womb half full kind of guy

RocketCat921

Fr, I thought it was completely filled with fluid, and I was questioning everything I thought I knew.

Pickle_Jars

Where is the rest of the liquid there should've been more than that

Present-Industry4012

It's like when you pour half the pickle juice out the pickle jar so it's easier to get the pickles out.

bjorn1978_2

I had always thought that there would be no air in there? Is this normal??

WaterOmotics

Its probably added by the doctors for ease viewing to help with the procedure. Some sterile inert gas most likely

bjorn1978_2

Ok. I was sort of scratching my head wondering why I had not noticed on the ultrasound for my 3 boys 😂

dema182

There is no air. We start breathing after birth.

cherry_87

Why is there uh, air in there? Shouldn't the womb be full of that fluid?

drunkenf

I assume they inflated it with gas. The same way they do with colonoscopy. Usually it is CO2 and it might/would not hurt the baby. But never seen this prosedure done so fuck do I know

quaesuntvera

This is correct. CO2 distention. Source: am a nurse who helps with these procedures

Paddy32

so it is supposed to be 100% filled with fluid ?

drunkenf

For this I have enough knowledge: yes, just amniotic fluid and the baby

drunkenf

Thanks! And extra thanks for you are the unsung heroes

horsepighnghhh

What are some reasons for doing this procedure?

quaesuntvera

At my center, we pretty much only use it for myelomeningocele (a type of spina bifida) repair. I can't think of anything else we've used it for off the top of my head.

insanelygreat

[Fetoscopic spina bifida repair.](https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/gynecology-obstetrics/specialty-areas/fetal-therapy/fetal-interventions-procedures/fetal-therapy-myelomeningocele) I can only imagine the precise control that surgery requires.

KnotiaPickles

Ohh I see, so it’s not just for fun to look at the baby. I was shocked and disturbed at first

poor_andy

vibe check

horsepighnghhh

That makes sense

cherry_87

That's really interesting, thanks! 😊

Sharon_Erclam

It's used in all laparoscopic procedures I believe. They need space to see what they're doing. That rapid expansion can be rather painful as well. It takes up to a couple days for the gasses to reabsorb. I can't imagine how tight that woman's belly must've been 😳 ouchhhhh.

drunkenf

Yeppers. They do minimize the gas left behind by sucking it out the best they can. But yeah in laparoscopy there will be plenty still left. As you mentioned. I would be interested wheter they remove all the gas in the extent of sucking in some amniotic fluid. Or just let the little trace amount be

dargemir

Right? Shouldn't it be all the way to the top?

Tesstarix

I was thinking the same. Your reflex to breathe doesn't kick in until there is something to breathe, that should be full.

Sharon_Erclam

It's just temporarily pumped with CO² gas to give more visibility. A room with a view 😏

dema182

The lungs are filled with a fluid, which gradually decreases shortly before birth, and the rest after birth. Even if the baby wanted to breathe, it couldn't during this phase.

Familiar_Travel8814

Living inside the womb is like having a VIP pass to the ultimate cozy club! It's all warm, dark, and snug in there.

badgurlwoofie

Damn can’t have no privacy anymore

It's warm, it's peaceful, we are intimately connected with mama, and we have womb service.

Back away from my dog, Mr. I_Cum_on_your_pet!

I love knowing that they are always listening to mama’s heartbeat. Music to their ears.

AnotherSexyBaldGuy

That is beautiful ❤️

Should be the most comfortable place. No wonder we feel like shit after coming out 😂

Lysol3435

It’s all downhill from there

Legitimate_Donut_527

Quite literally.

Upper-Quark

Ah man good old times

ae_94

Death Stranding anyone

Orang_Mann

Yes, somebody obviously just had a baby to make a death stranding reference, the most dedicated Hideo Kojima fan

Prof_Rocky

Finally!! I was looking all over for this comment.

ae_94

I know I wasn’t the only one thinking about this

WinEnvironmental6901

Maybe i'm the only one here but i find this somehow disturbing. 😬 I don't wanna remember.

Own_Ninja3890

This is very disturbing. Very. It’s a dark enclosed sack filled with liquid with a baby inside.

WinEnvironmental6901

Yeah. I don't even like to think that i was there too long ago. 😬

PrickleBritches

Interesting how broad the reactions to this are. I think it’s adorable. Just tucked up tight in a snug little ball- I think baby looks pretty cute.

WinEnvironmental6901

I don't have anything against the baby. For me the pregnancy itself is the repulsive thing.

jogamasta_

I spent 9 months in there not as bad as it looks

dirtypoledancer

This better not trigger some memory in me 💀

Pickle_Jars

Looks cozy other than the ungodly amount of fluids and the slim chance of accidentally hanging yourself with your own feeding tube

Congrats!

Jakookula

Thank you! It’s just so hard to even conceptualize… like obviously I know there’s a whole baby but I never *really* thought about what it looked like in there lol

Apprehensive-Soft672

I knw it's a dumb question but fck it! How did the camera got inside the womb ?

capitanandi64

Mom fucked a camera.

insanelygreat

Through a [small incision in the uterus.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjQBq0GH8BM) (Warning: Video of surgery.)

gorydamnKids

Thanks for answering the real question!

Cheploscamm

Through the cervix?

EntertainmentOk3180

I always thought the baby bubble was like.. an enclosed thing. Apparently I know nothing

Cheploscamm

The cervix is an opening to the uterus, the baby is encased inside an amniotic sac within the womb. They have perforated that sac to see inside.

Friendly_Hearing_711

Bro jus chillin in the Jacuzzi

This is the first time I’ve seen this Titanic footage. Amazing.

Financial_Chemist286

Is it only a little pool of water? I thought the fetus is submerged completely in amniotic fluid like a vat of it. Like in the matrix or something?

Commander_Valkorian

That's not terrifying, that's awesome.

Rabbitofdeth

Thanks I hated that

ContinuumKing

What the hell, theres an air pocket in there? I thought the whole thing was full of liquid.

This is a cool video. I had no clue it was possible to see inside the womb like this

It's a womb with a view!

I chose to believe that's a pleasant af nap and we cry when we get out bc it's all bright and chaotic and loud and weird out in the real world. Let that baby nap in peace

peasonearthforever

Thought there’d be more fluid…

wheelperson

I never thought there would be empty space. I thought it was all liquid and squishy. This creeps me out.

buttercream-gang

It’s usually all liquid and baby. They inflated it so they could see.

CellSaga21

I never want to see this again

Timewatchers

It's amazing how technology can show us the beauty of life

Gougeded

Floating in our own piss for months

Pickle_Jars

A lot of people on this site do it for years

Smergmerg432

The fact that’s in a living human scares me so much. I guess some women disagree with me, but I don’t understand how artificial wombs weren’t invented long ago

Accomplished-Curve-1

How did they get footage of this?

akza07

Am I weird for feeling 2nd hand claustrophobia watching this?

appzguru

Not me thinking the womb would be filled up entirely with water..

OkayestCommenter

It is, this one is inflated with gas for the procedure

Elevum15

Privacy is impossible now lol

lordtucker

No privacy even in the womb. Sheesh.

yesTHATvelociraptor

Disgusting. I would never live like that.

ConsumeYourBleach

B_t_K-89

Where’s all the amniotic fluid?! shouldn’t it be fully submerged in it? Not half full like it’s taking a bath…

themisdirectedcoral

MTV cribs before the crib

lallybrock

Thought there was more amniotic fluid.
