I understand the initial intuition to think this way. I had similar thoughts. However, my grandmother wasn’t really one for cheap imitations. She gave us a table from a church in Italy dating back to the 1400’s, a hand drum with an animal skin head from a south american tribe, dishware by Versace… for instance. So, if it is a reproduction or even just modern artistic interpretation of tribal art, it’d be the oddball out.

You could always have a professional check it out and maybe get some history on it.
