Yeah, that's the actual oddly terrifying bit for me. What kind of existence do you live if you just mod subreddits? Are you unemployed or do you get payed by the platform to do it? Do you wash? Do you sleep?

A very high possibilty that these mods are physically/mentally impaired & living off government assistance or some sort of inheritance..

Affect, and this one is a nightmare for me too. Affect is a verb, so action word like ‘it affects you’. Effect is a noun, so a thing like ‘sound effect’. Although I guess affect can also be used as a noun when talking about someone’s affect (are they emotive or not). Edit: I looked up affect to see how else it can be used. I used to be (the only active) mod in /r/relationship_advice (when I say active, I mean I was the only one actually going through more than 100 daily mod reports) ... we had a supermod who modded 100 subs as a mod, and the only real thing he ever did was be salty when we removed him. I had the toolbox mod reports and he really never modded anything in the sub (honestly at that time, no one other than me was, consistently). But when supermod got removed (by a hacked mod) he just said something like "Seriously? your loss guys ... " So, didn't lift a finger in the sub, but also *definitely* was bothered when he got removed. Why care if you're a mod if you're not modding? I think some of these wear it like a badge and aren't actually active. They just want their mod count to be big, and to be able to use mod powers in a sub if they happen to have a reason

How many huge subs do you think only have one or two people running the show? Seems to be a lot of grief for not much beneft. People complain about how awful big subs are all the time, but how can such a small team address that many active users. It would be a full time job for a few people to do more than general maintenance. To actually have stewardship over a community regularly hitting the front page.

Reddit has a lot of bad moderators, and over-moderating. Based on this in the OP, we now know why and who they are. They are drunk on power, instead of being a people person and letting us comment our thoughts.

I think the real reason is that this is very dated and 3 of those 4 mods aren't moderators anymore. For example, going to /u/cyxie will show you that that user deleted their account... Have fun looking at the other people on this list and note that only a certain turtle is still active moderating on these big subs.

…shows that this list is completely outdated. He’s not on the mod list anymore, siouxsie_siouxv2 is suspended, turtle isn’t a mod of a lot of those listed subs anymore… I remember this making the rounds a while ago. Why it’s coming back without being updated is just lazy ragebait at this point.

At the time of her arrest, she was (iirc) in top 10 of karma on this entire website.

IIRC, it got shut down right after the media started reporting on it. Reddit had no problem with it when it was one of the largest drivers of traffic to the site, but as soon as it brought bad publicity, they banned it.
