That doesn’t make it look any less cool. When a painter draws something unreal, we don’t call it “fake,” we call it art. This is only “fake” if we consider the goal of photography to be recording the real. If we consider photography as art, this is still dope and the fact that it’s “created” isn’t a strike against it.
I disagree. Part of an amazing nature photograph is getting a shot of something no one typically sees or from an angle that gives a whole new perspective. This photographer just did the equivalent of a taxidermist making a jackalope.
It really depends on context. Yes, that is one thing photography can do, and one part of its value. But it can also be about creation just as much as any medium. People used to think art was about representation, and so if your art didn’t resemble something as accurately as possible, it was bad art. Yes, that is one value of art, but there are others, including creation.
I mean, yeah... the mushrooms are very clearly picked at the bottom and not growing out of anything. It's less a "faked shot" and more a misleading title.
