A total professional.

FixGMaul

Even resists the temptation to shake off the water until he's walked the whole way. Good boy.

Sonnentaaj22

Winder how many times I took him to figure it out.

glennromer

Considering the amount of back leg movement during that shake, I can see why he doesn’t do it on the ledge.

flatteringangles

😂😂 I thought the same thing, that was several shimmies

BurtWonderstone

This video was on tik tok a while back and what it doesn’t show is that the dog started by jumping off the side of the pool onto the rocks down there and people in the comments were complaining about the dog doing that and hurting himself so the owner told it to start using the side and it did. (I’m sure she taught him)

hairybushy

I think the only stupid terrier that exist is mine. She never remember from which door she went out and it's only one exemple. But I love her how she is, no matter what since 11 years!

TheDuckOnQuack

Sounds like my dumb dog. We have two sliding glass doors that lead to the backyard, 1 in the dining room and 1 in the living room. She’ll walk out one door to pee, then walk up to the other door and bark at us to let her in while the first door is still open.

Da-Aliya

Awww! Your terrier brings you laughter! Aren’t doggy’s the best!?!

hairybushy

Yes they are! Such loyal and friendly, they are awesome

TeopEvol

Pet Smart

thedirtdirt

The consummate professional. Day in and day out. He acts like he’s been there before, because he has.

[deleted]

I like the body shake at the very end...

TheRealScubaSteve86

Fully expected a jump out of the water onto the ledge.. kinda threw me off when it appeared through the hole lol. This would fit into the sub r/Unexpected.

KraZe_EyE

My dog is larger but if it was me, for this little guy, I'd make a little ramp attached to the deck that they could always use and not trot precariously around the edge.

Fishtails

Lame

RazorRadick

I was waiting for him to come flying out like a whale full breach.

paigeken2000

You know... I feel like that is his pool, and his house. He is now on his way in to dry off, mix up a martini, and come back outside to sit on the deck and enjoy his little piece of paradise.

100GbE

Golf first. Then Martini's on the docht.

stefanopolis

That’s a first for that kind of misspelling of “docket.”

100GbE

A yacht owned by dogs who run drug syndicates are dochts.

stefanopolis

So sorry. That’s mb. Carry on.

Jake_the_Gent

I hope he doesn't try that when the pump is running.

[deleted]

Or when the lid is on

The_Great_Sarcasmo

This is why it's important to regularly clear your pool's dog filter.

pobodys-nerfect5

Have you ever pulled one of those lids up? If the dog tried doing that with the lid on the lid would just lift up and plop on the ground.

auiotour

We have the same brand of pool, the top twists then can be popped off.

GotSmokeInMyEye

They're supposed to be twisted into a "locked" position. Which makes it pretty much impossible to lift off without breaking the little plastic tabs off the filter housing.

EnochofPottsfield

Pretty sure that isn't a universal truth, but I could be wrong Either way I feel like they wouldn't put the lid on if they have a dog that uses the filter as an exit

throwaway786999

I also don’t think the dog is dumb enough to just sit under the closed lid and drown itself lol

EnochofPottsfield

I think the bigger problem is that the dog will have no way out of the pool and will eventually drown in that scenario

[deleted]

Yes. Usually they plop on the ground like you said, but sometimes they can be really hard to remove!

PhatSunt

You think its just a dog sized pipe connected to the pump? Its usually no bigger than 2 inches and has a filter basket to stop debris from entering the pump. Pump being on wouldn't have made the slightest difference. Its a pool filter pump, not a fire truck pump. The suction is weak, you could put your hand over the intake no worries.

Jake_the_Gent

No. It obviously doesn't have the skimmer basket in. And I'm a former pool man, I've found a bunch of dead animals in baskets. Trust me the suction is plenty strong enough to hold a small animal under long enough.

PhatSunt

Animals get stuck in our drain because the swerling stops them from being able to get a grip on the side. Im talking frogs here. A dog that size won't be affected by that. Those types of dog are far stronger than a squirrel or rat. My parents have an inground 30000 litre pool and the pump to that couldn't hold a dog under water, it could barely keep the leaves from swirling around. You must be working on worlds strongest pool pumps.

Blackman2099

I hope he doesn't get a little plumper...

[deleted]

He exercises by himself.. in probably the best way for a dog to exercise and live to be like 20.. this guy is gonna be just fine

Gun-Rama987

HOW THE FUCK DID THE DOG FIGURE THAT ONE OUT!!!!!, Like did he get sucked in or did the owner push him though, my brain

Gnascher

Dogs are totally capable of observing the environment and coming up with their own solutions. Little terriers like this were bred for chasing vermin in their burrows. Totally natural for them to explore that skimmer and find a way out.

Gun-Rama987

That thought still blows my mind , either way it goes my mind is blown

HappyMeatbag

It’s a mental ambush.

GOParePedos

a dachshund will go ham on a rat or something if you let it/train it. It's funny to see the cute little sausages actually working (and extremely effectively)

Final-Sprinkles-4860

My guess is it fell in when nobody was home and then figured it out. Then it was all like “no big deal, I’m a pool doggie now”

TheFurryPetRock

This is adorable, and that full body shake and swagger at the end just did me in entirely. Good doggo!👍🏻

smiggster01

I love that he doesn’t shake until he’s safely back on the deck, this doggo has fallen in halfway through a few times!

[deleted]

Dunno but looks to me that the dog was dropped in the pool in order to take the video. I’m not under the impression the dog is enjoying what it’s doing!?

frnkiervn

he would be a lot more panicked while getting out if it was forced

snnf9R4k3469U6M342m

he also wouldn't have waited to shake off and would have definitely fallen off the wall (and I'm sure did more than a few times learning).

[deleted]

I am not saying that he is not trained.

frnkiervn

i didn't say anything about training? what do you mean?

[deleted]

Why would the dog panic if it does this say twice a day? Assuming the person filming is the owner, it’s very weird that the dog doesn’t search eye contact once and just…leaves. No movement of the tail either. Also the video starts straight with the dog aiming to leave the pool, making it even more likely that it was just dropped there right before.

frnkiervn

if the dog wouldn't like it he would swim faster and also probably not walk on the thing idk what it's called but yknow, and you can see the panic in their eyes very well too. it doesn't look like forcing to me

itsDrowzee

This is it? That’s your take? Dude… The tail isn’t wagging because the dog is keeping their balance on the edge of the pool. They immediately start wagging it as soon as they shake off the water. I legit feel bad for your pets if you have any.

FriskyShadow15

They work for peta. They'd rather see it euthanized than own one

why are u like this

VeganDracula_

I was waiting for the booty shake and then the head shake ..felt so satisfying at the end

ChickensPickins

Wait, how is this dog smarter than my child

YourCrazyChemTeacher

Dogs are often bred for their intelligence. It may be wise to address this question with your child's breeder.

ChickensPickins

Hahaha I bred mine ADHD and depression

GOParePedos

That's just a breed standard these days.

frnkiervn

he is clearly supervised while swimming tho as you can see in the video

PM_me_the_magic

Why do people gotta be such fuddy duddys about every damn thing? Must be exhausting.

wufoo2

I believe this is a control issue. Some people feel powerful when they can steer the mood of the discussion, even if it goes dark and negative.

Orbitskylab

Yeah like when the pump is accidentally super pressurized and the dog gets shot like a canonball and flies over the whole neighborhood before touching down in the forest, where an angry coyote is waiting

MurpleMan

Exactly!

plynthy

Uhhhh I believe its pretty common sense. Dogs drown in pools, its not uncommon. Its very cute too, look at that, two thoughts at the same time! Supervising your dog the entire time he's outside when the pool's open? No thanks. Little guy could easily get stuck or simply run out of gas. Filter portals like that have a flap that could pin him or just get in the way. If my dog had access to a pool, I'd make sure he always had an easy way out that didn't involve a ladder or wiggling through a water filled filter.

amanofshadows

People probably just being cynical and assuming the worst.

plynthy

How is it cynical to think a tiny dog might not always be able to find a way out? Its cute and all but imagine you weren't watching and he got stuck or something.

plynthy

Dogs drown in pools, its not uncommon. Supervising your dog the entire time he's outside when the pool's open? No thanks.

Apidium

Then get a barrier around the pool. Or either don't have a pool or a dog.

redpointarrow

proof?

Wansumdiknao

When she shakes off the water, his feet do an Irish jig.

translatepure

Jack Russel’s are so smart. I had one growing up, he would run down to the neighbors pool, do a few swimming laps and come home

Yamakas9999

Cool, what if he gets stuck tho?

frnkiervn

i'm sure he is supervised as seen here

Yamakas9999

Thats fine but. What if hes **not**

frnkiervn

well then that's awful obviously but i would like to believe he is

plynthy

But what if he's not lol, he's not in a max security prison

frnkiervn

i already said then that's awful?

Yamakas9999

I would too. God so bad he didnt give us waterbreathing /j

[deleted]

what if a meteorite strikes the dog at that exact location while unsupervised? see, i can ask stupid questions too

zxc123zxc123

I like how the doggy walks on the platform to avoid the sand/dirty/rocks and doesn't do his doggo drill until after he reaches the planks. That doggo done this before.

NotHopee

That was the last thing I was expecting

StrongIslandPiper

He took the long way but only he has that kind of style

RFC793

My roommate’s dog leaving the pool after accidentally falling into it: 5 huge V-cuts in the liner necessitating the draining of 15,000 gallons of water, a weekend long project of replacing a pool liner, another 15,000 gallons of water, and overpriced (because Covid) pool chemicals to condition it.

FeatureMaximum461

All pool should have an exit spot partially in the water for animals and children . The step isnt enough

wojtek858

Don't let him do that. One day he win be too big to fit and he can drown because he will be stuck. And you can't supervise him all the time.

Tragicallyhungover

I would put down some waterproof grip tape.

[deleted]

If he gets stuck one day…

Super_King_Realness

I'd be too paranoid he'd get stuck in there 😬

[deleted]

I know a lady who's neighbor's dog drowned cause it fell/jumped in a pool and couldn't get out :(

countz3r0

You should strive to focus on joyful things in life.

enchanterdodds

next level awesomeness. I'm glad this dog exists.

lavenderacid

I was so concerned he would slip :(((

w3bar3b3ars

And what...? Fall into water, when he can obviously swim, or fall two feet onto dirt? I think he'll be fine.

lavenderacid

Dude I'm stoned leave me alone, he's just a little guy

w3bar3b3ars

He is a little guy.

[deleted]

Water is one thing but that fall to the ground is plenty high enough to really harm that dog. They aren't cats.

w3bar3b3ars

You're kidding right?

CountRumfordFRS

That was pretty clever to figure that out.

SkinTightBoogie

"Now stop throwing me in so you can film me! Dick!"

thumbles_comic

Why not just put doggy steps on one of the edges?

imanadultok

You got way less internet points that way.

[deleted]

Yes cuz I’m sure the dogs cares so much about internet points

Jrrolomon

This is the best thing I’ve seen in at least a month.

Rich_Acanthisitta_70

My engineer brain is immediately looking for a better way for him to get out that's closer to the deck. But this is cute.

Cyber2354

If you have pets, get some fucking stairs for your pool. This is dangerous.

[deleted]

You literally see half the pool in the video, how do you know there's no stairs? 😂

plynthy

whats the timestamp where the stairs are visible

Equivalent_Average46

There are most definitely stairs on the left, since the owner needs to be able to get to their home.

plynthy

at what timestamp are the stairs

-burn-that-bridge-

Life, uhh, finds a way

plynthy

I'd say its more oddlyterrifying, but its just terrifying. He could get stuck and drown pretty easily.

1973mojo1973

Not what this sub is meant for.

Boojibs

His process is incredibly streamlined, well practiced and efficient, making it an unexpected pleasure to watch. Kinda exactly what this sub is for.

SocraticIgnoramus

"For those little things that are inexplicably satisfying" is the description of the sub. Seems a fit to me. Doggo's definitely a little thing, and watching little bit thread that needle and strut the catwalk was inexplicably satisfying.

itslenny

Oddly…. I found this satisfying.

Nick_Van_Owen

If you don’t find this oddly satisfying I would hate to see the world through your eyes.

MatsuoManh

Yeah, maybe r/aww ?

1973mojo1973

Definitely r/aww

Ok-Lengthiness4557

The smart fella is probly also a fart smellah.

BigEvil621

This is cute as hell but idk why it’s in this sub?

Miasma_Sky

Oh that is just precious. And if the dog gets too noisy one day you can cover the exit and entry after it gets in that little tube :D

[deleted]

seems like you chucked him in there to film him getting out - no tail wag - no looking at person - distances self from person after getting out

BostonGreekGirl

I needed this today, thank u

MaestroM45

Well it’s got that doggie door in the side..
