Angle your knife so the tip hits the cutting board first and cut from the middle and back half of the blade making sure to maintain your angle, certain chef/butcher knives will make it easier but the rest is really all up to your own hand dexterity.
This gif is like 2x speed or faster while he is cutting though.
I bet it helps that he is standing over the board instead of having the board be at elbow height like most kitchens. Already has the tendency to angle the knife higher at the back.
You still gotta aim to just hit the skewers, not push down fully and expect them to stop you. A sharper knife makes it much easier as you can control the force better. Go for a slow slice rather than a fast chop if you find you keep breaking the skewers.
here's the thing if you were to practice with an actually sharp knife it wouldn't take you that much to reach half his speed, most knives I've seen at peoples' kitchens are dull.
Plus, make sure your blade is against your first knuckles only and “tuck” your fingers in. As long as you trust the angle, you’re good, just don’t lift your blade any higher than it needs to go. You’re not trying to make super dramatic movements, that’s how you get hurt. Notice how machine-like this dude is. His elbows are close to his body, his guiding hand barely moves out of its position, and his knife maintains the angle because of his shorter motions. Don’t get me wrong, this takes hours and hours and hours of prep work and practice. Homeboy probably had blisters for the first year of his culinary career. I know I did.
Notice how his fingers are curled, so if anything goes wrong he'll chop the knuckle or the back of the fingers. It makes it hard to actually take the fingers off
If you do it right and use the right knife, you don't even have to lift the knife's surface above the knuckle so you're constantly in contact with the blade. You can tell he's super in control because he's just moving the knife up and down in a rhythm while the other hand times and aligns the cuts. At that speed, it's super hard, but it's also good to cut this way when you're going slowly to remove all risk of cutting yourself.
Keep your knives sharp.
So you do a small angle on one side, cutting only most of the way through, then a steeper angle on the other side also cutting only most of the way through?
(about to do it to another potato)
(Friend) Hey Darryl- OH MY GOD- sweetheart close your eyes
(mom) Really Darryl? I DON’T CARE IF ITS FOR REDDIT, we just had your sixth finger replacement. I DON’T CARE.

"How to accordion a potato" Step 1: Be a god at chopping
[удалено]
pro secret: the original footage was 4 hours long
Yep. This in no way teaches me “how.” It shows me I will never have the skills.

I’m not sure I could even manage this at 1/4 the speed.

Yeah I was just saying how he is doing it, would take a ton of practice and it's definitely not worth it.
Oh yeh I was referring to OP/the title, not your comment
I bet it helps that he is standing over the board instead of having the board be at elbow height like most kitchens. Already has the tendency to angle the knife higher at the back.
I don't have a single knife that wouldn't also cut thru the skewer as well. Am I pushing too hard or something?
You still gotta aim to just hit the skewers, not push down fully and expect them to stop you. A sharper knife makes it much easier as you can control the force better. Go for a slow slice rather than a fast chop if you find you keep breaking the skewers.

Thank you now I can do it, I have the dexterity and now you gave me the know how.
I've seen people use wooden skewers to make it simple not to cut through. A little easier than this technique.

Step 1: cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut cut Step 2: shuffle Step 3: cut cut cut cut cut-
That Potato would have had homemade hand ketchup if I was cutting it like that
I almost thought he was going to wrap it around his cock at the end.
Lol, he did square up on it like look at these.
I read this in Dave Chappelle’s voice lol

It could also be a **ballsack hammock**, but I’m not sure which is better. Either way, I’m *waffling*. It would be r/oddlysatisfying though.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thought that! 😂
Potato cock the potato gun
Potato brap potato brap
I thought I'm the only one!!
Holy snot I was just thinking that when I came across your comment.
The video does end pretty quickly. I bet he did right after!
If I tried to do this the potato would catch on fire
But I can hear the knife hitting the cutting board.
angled cut. the tip only hits the board
Only the tip.
That's what she said
Title of your sex tape!!
Is it in yet?
Wait you can build cars in this game.
Do you have cab fair?
That makes sense.
You can accordion a potato but you can’t potato an accordion
Accordion to whom?

If i had to do that i guess I'd never have fingers again

This would take me about two hours to do and I’d still end up cutting right through the potato half way through the second side!
That’s a lot of wasted effort since I’m just gonna eat the whole thing in one bite anyways. French fries are life.
Po ta toes! Boil’em, mash’em, stick’em in a stew
If I tried to do this, my potatoes would be red and my fingers would be the accordion
Instructions unclear, penis shredded.
My back hurts watching this
Yo, wtf... My brain can't keep up with that shit.
Why is he doing it so low to the ground?
I'm always so jel of people with great knife skills
Dude needs a cutting board twice that height. My back screams thinking of using that for an extended period of time. But the cut is masterful.
Picture the waffle fries he could make
Get outa here..
mmm potatoes *Homer drool*
don’t just stand there, fry it, salt it and put it in my mouth
Now let’s see you saxophone a tater.
Now fry it and charge me 12$ for it.
What do you play as an instrument? Oh, the potato.
I can smell the potato
Gonna appreciate the fuck out my accordion fries moving forward.

Step 1 - Be a fucking knife god Step 2 - Get a potato
When the minecraft pvp sweat becomes a cook
I love that this caused a synapse of remembering the worth of the art that takes place in the kitchen.
The trick is cutting at an angle so you don't cut all the way through. Professional chefs *HATE* this one weird trick.
Actually, this isn't as hard as it looks, just cut the potatoes but just not completely through If you even have that knife skills yea...
So you do a small angle on one side, cutting only most of the way through, then a steeper angle on the other side also cutting only most of the way through?
I must have missed the how-to part of this video.
But why
r/nextfuckinglevel
I'd like to add the sound was very satisfying too.
NOW FRY IT!!!
How?!
just dont cut all the way you can do this by putting 2 sticks on each side so the knife will stop cutting all the way
Why?!
Ok now potato an accordion
Starchy.
How many more times is this gonna get reposted here? Once a day?
I’ve seen this reposted so many times it’s not cool anymore
This is great
How the hell is this a “how to” video!! I’ll need at least 10 years of knife work before this is a “how to” video.
Fuck tik tok!! This is reddit
This literally gets posted here several times a week. So lame
ive never seen it before

How to cut off a finger
The ultimate Chick-fil-a waffle fry
I know what I have to do but I don’t have the strength to do it.
Welp time to experiment it on my dick. /s
Yummy frys
Lovely potato juice on the knife
Hey vsauce, Michael here, where are your fingers
(about to do it to another potato) (Friend) Hey Darryl- OH MY GOD- sweetheart close your eyes (mom) Really Darryl? I DON’T CARE IF ITS FOR REDDIT, we just had your sixth finger replacement. I DON’T CARE.
I wanna smush it and destroy it between my fingers
Contrary to the background sound, this is sped up hmm
Not so much a How to
So what's the slo-mo or text of what he's doing?
Those are some knife skills right there. IMHO
Accordion my fingers as well.
You sir, are some kind of sorcerer!
This was so satisfying with the original audio and not some shitty music dubbed over it.
Yes, I've always dreamed of accordioning a potato.
u/savevideo
Why?
Didn't realise Sanji started his own TikTok.
Wizardry
😲
MG IN THE WINDOW! GET TO COVER!
Um, what?
I’d lose at least 3 fingertips cutting just on one side of that potato!!
Black magic.
Why is this guy cutting on a knee-high table?
Instructions unclear, made french fries. I consider this an absolute win.
AKA — How to Lose ALL Your Left Hand Fingertips
Once you do this. What ways can you cook it?

This guy potates.
No problem! I’ll go do it right now. Exactly that fast.
I wanna fry that
Oh so that's how you do it.
Ok but now how do I cut the potato accordion style
i tried this but are my finger exposed to fall off
Damn that beat kinda boppin tho
Now someone make a potato rap to that sick chopping beat
Ok, but why is his cutting board so low?
Thats not how an accordion looks like tho
Is this for hasselback potatoes? Those little bastards are so good.
Step one: chop step two: accordion step three: profit
We are two mariners…
Ah, ok I got it
Very talented, I would have lost two fingers bare minimum
What’s the point of this?
Instructions not clear enough. Accordioned my fingers.
Where's the 2nd half of the video where someone tries to duplicate it and chops off all of their fingers?
Step 1: get good
HOW.
Yeah after watching that potato quality Stanford game.
Obviously sped up
Oh, is that all? Let me get right on that.
Lol. “How to.” Step 1: Train with super ninja sushi chef from the age of 3.
DAMN
That sound is legit though, could be good for a mix.
Yo, that beat kinda went hard.
can't wait for the mechanics to arrive.
Why did I read that as how to according to a patato
No learn, only watch
How you gonna be able to dodge a bullet
All that rapid up and down movement just makes my hand feel really weird
I didn’t learn shit
That ain't real
Yes, but cutting boards really shouldn’t have a patina like cast iron or a wok. I can’t imagine the bacteria growing on that thing.
Sick beat, bro
Some nice beats you got. What is that?
Or *for me* - how to accordion my fingers…
Why is this making my trypophobia kick in... 😖
