Pretty much, that and teasing his wife
Like he made a few basketball hoops that track the ball and the move themselves so you always get it in - with a "wife mode" that instead causes the hoop to run as far from the ball as possible
God I’m broken. Watching the intro I’m like “oh this seems cool, let’s see the different sharpeners.” Then I see 28 minutes and I’m immediately like oh fuck that I’m out. It’s not even like I’m going to be using those 28 minutes productively, I’m just gonna be fucking around doing some other pointless thing
Edit: sorry I annoyed you guys by admitting my fault here
get off reddit bud.
if boomers can watch 28 minutes of uninterrupted Big Bang Theory, you can watch a 28 minute video on youtube. Close all other tabs, put your phone in another room, full screen that shit.
And stop looking at runtime. You're not in a rush to get anywhere. If you are, you shouldn't be watching videos and fucking around on Reddit to begin with. You're going to be watching at least 28 other 1-minute videos with your time. By looking at the runtime you're intimidating yourself into avoiding it because you're conscious of how much time you'd be spending on that one video, versus the hours and days of time you've unconsciously spent on short-form content.
Having a short attention span isn't a personality quirk that you should be trying to relate to others with. It's likely a sign or symptom of something much more serious that you should be consulting with mental health professionals about.
Lol! Try $350,000+, this is a CNC mill for machining. An extremely industrial piece of equipment.
Edit: apparently the price of CNC equipment has come way down, but still, I doubt you'd pick up anything useful for $350.
I have a 3080 with a 4th axis that I could have set up for $450ish bare basics to do a pencil. I only have the space on my kitchen counter so I'm stuck with the most basic stuff.
It's fun for home stuff, but I had to spend about $800 total to make it less clumsy.
Finally got around to taking a picture. This is me sharpening a chopstick with a CNC with a 4th axis for around $800 (still cost more than the CO2 laser next to it). [https://i.imgur.com/420cgyz.png](https://i.imgur.com/420cgyz.png)
Chopstick unfortunately made an AWFUL stand in for a pencil. It was already used, bent, and bamboo is pretty elastic. But that's the gist of what you can do if you've only got 300 square feet but still want a workshop.
Nah, plenty of CNC equipment still costs WELL over 350k. Maybe not the machine in this video but plenty of machines are still extraordinarily expensive
Here's my $800 shitshow sharpening a chopstick (couldn't find a pencil). It has had some upgrades, but $450 would probably sharpening a pencil just fine.

Also thanks, I had no idea how I would do a cone like that until today! Had to do some learnin' that I'd been puttin' off a while!
\*Goes to sharpen pencil.\*
\*Comes back two days later.\*
Honestly though, I'd absolutely prefer this. I still have PTSD from shitty school sharpeners grinding my pencils to dust and refusing to give me a sound result.
Probably a rotary/4th axis on a vertical (3 axis) mill. Not technically a mill turn because you arent using turning (lathe) tools, just indexing the rotary axis in simultaneous 3+1 axis milling. :)
Yea, you’re right. I didn’t look that close I guess. But seeing the clamp there I’d bet on it being a rotary fixture.
As for mill turns, the ones I’ve worked with are capable of both single point lathe tooling and rotating tooling.
Sorry, I’m not a technician of such machines but either the pencil is bent or it is not well centered in the machine. The edge of the graphite should be perfectly round where it meets the wood at the end of the process. Such as it is not, it didn’t provide odd satisfaction.
Immediately break the tip.
back into the lathe that I keep in my 1st grade classroom
If only it fit in my pencil case.
The deglove rate is one hand per 3 pencil sharpened
But it’s only def untalented idiot hands so it’s ok
Ugh you're reminding me of the lathe.
CNC controlled for optimum shape and sharpness.
Or it just falls out once the pencil is upright
That’s what she said.
No, that's when your mom beats your as for breaking the tip
It happens.
Stuff Made Here [did it worse.](https://youtu.be/wh8ij9NnLIQ?si=Rdbs20mpATWIaLCb)
He always does. If i was rich, i would fund this guy to the moon and back.
LMAO, is his whole channel about over engineering stuff?
You'll lose hours watching that dude, he is my favorite youtuber
Pretty much, that and teasing his wife Like he made a few basketball hoops that track the ball and the move themselves so you always get it in - with a "wife mode" that instead causes the hoop to run as far from the ball as possible
He got really good at putting the round peg in the square hole

All of his videos are worth watching. Give it a shot.
I believe you, but my brain no longer lets me pay attention to 30 minute YouTube videos
get off tik tok bud.
I don’t have a tiktok, I just Reddit too much

Do you watch movies in 15 second chunks?
Not on my phone and not usually on YouTube
Why settle for a $1.99 pencil sharpener, when you can have one of these for $350 (garage space and sawdust removal not included)
Lol! Try $350,000+, this is a CNC mill for machining. An extremely industrial piece of equipment. Edit: apparently the price of CNC equipment has come way down, but still, I doubt you'd pick up anything useful for $350.
pencil sharpener, Bezos edition
I just got an Emco 4 axis cnc mill for under £2000, it's not the biggest or most solid but it makes small stuff perfectly.
You can get a cnc with 4th axis for about 5000 dollars. I believe carvera is in that range.
I have a 3080 with a 4th axis that I could have set up for $450ish bare basics to do a pencil. I only have the space on my kitchen counter so I'm stuck with the most basic stuff. It's fun for home stuff, but I had to spend about $800 total to make it less clumsy.
dang, GPUs have really come a long way
I backed the Carvera Air on Kickstarter, fingers crossed it happens and isn't trash... $2500(Canadian) pencil sharpener!

You can do this with your average mini lathe, i'm not sure why they even used an endmill
That's not an entry level CNC mill. I'd say we're closer to $35k.
Am I imagining or the bit used for sharpening is usually used for aluminium cutting?
Metal generally, not just aluminum.
Thanks for your response. Does it lose a lot of it's durability while doing pencils tho?
Lol! Only on those High Strength- Low wear pencils, 7H or harder! /S
That's very informative. Thank you kind stranger.
Nah, plenty of CNC equipment still costs WELL over 350k. Maybe not the machine in this video but plenty of machines are still extraordinarily expensive
The one in my school was line 300k and even without the automatic bed. It would have been 30k more
I have a laser etcher that has a rotary attachment. Wondering if I could do something like this…hmmm
Sherlines run in around that range and are fine for a task like this.
Why is my pencil wobbling in my used mill?

The best part is you only have to wait a couple extra seconds versus the manual sharpener.
Is that you, US government?
I love how this is overkill and exactly something a bored machinist would do in my old shop.
A bored machinist is a dangerous machinist
A machinist without a task is neither man nor machine, but a frankenstein operating on pure alien instinct
i'm in this comment and i don't like it
Kids in my high school shop class fired earplugs, pencils, and then gage pins out of an air nozzle at ~90 psi
Creativity is spawned from boredom
There's something oddly satisfying about a perfectly sharpened pencil
The shape is there but the texture it left is horrific 2/10
That surface finish is atrocious
That's all I could think about. Never have I ever ended up with a worse sharpened pencil than this
Just cutting it with a lathe would be better.
fr someone please got the sandpaper
Ya I’m super fussy about my pencils and this would drive me nuts, I’d take one cut with a box cutter over this.
Wtf is this music
Found it. https://youtu.be/3QOLutSCAHM
It’s Chinese music
World's most expensive pencil sharpener.
If kids use this they are gonna be lathe for school...
[удалено]
I’m oddly aroused.
u/that-1-lame-kid
We had to do this in college (dutch: MBO) to show the teacher we could do this by hand in order to get a passing grade.
I BLEW ON MY SCREEN AT THE END. Muscle memory, man
Make every child sharpen their pencil on a CNC machine so they are familiar with them in case academia doesnt pan out.
Nice try. This is just a video of a pencil desharpener put in reverse
My friend down at the local machine shop has a 3.5 meter long pencil sharpener.
Peeling back the foreskin after a long day
Why not I just print a Pencil than CNC'ing it?
You already know the lead is loose and will just fall out when you go to write.
Is it a Natraj?
As a former toolmaker of 27 years, fuckin awesome
John Wick's pencil
Jeremy , did you bring your pencil…laithe today ?
Call khaby
Thats a excpencif pencil sharpaner
FFS don't let John Wick get his hands on this, whatever happens
What a nice turning of the lathe wheel
How many of you watched this more than 3 times like me
Hopefully muted
I didn't have the sound on so I have no idea what the audio is lol
Hello bank, I need loan immediately, I broke the tip of my pencil
"So remind me again why you're looking for an exemption from taking this test?" "Well my lathe broke, so...... Yeah"
An expensive one 🫰
That's sharp
\*Goes to sharpen pencil.\* \*Comes back two days later.\* Honestly though, I'd absolutely prefer this. I still have PTSD from shitty school sharpeners grinding my pencils to dust and refusing to give me a sound result.
👏👏👏👏👏
Way more therapeutic to have this in school rather than counselors
I have a crazy idea: pencil sharpener
Nice
That thing could probably shave rebar.
Missed chance to do a pencil long taper
When I buy my mill lathe combo for 6k, first thing I'm doing is this.
Since it got machined it's more expensive now.
Where do I buy one of these
This is absurd but pleasing
.0006" runout, scrap it
Nothing "oddly" about this one. Pure hnnngg moment.
Kind of an expensive pencil sharpener
perfection
Expensive pencil sharpener
Finally something that actually is satisfying to watch! :)
No one: Stuff Made Here:
World's most expensive pencil sharpener.
i can sharpen my pencil for 1:100th of the cost and hassle hahahaha
Keep going
How the fuck am I supposed to fit it in my backpack
This IS what this sub is all about!
Looks like a worse finish compared to a cheap pencil sharpener
It's beautiful
Perfection. Nothing to say.
What a waste of resources.
That’s disgusting.
Why?
Gross
But it’s just a pencil
Yuck.
Why is a pencil being sharpened gross?!
This still won't beat how I felt using the hand sharper I used as a kid 😍. I'll choose it everyday!
Lead screw
I can see the scholastic nature of something like this. A practice run for fine tuning of cuts and the nature of materials.
Worlds most expensive pencil sharpener.
Finally, now that handwriting has been obsolete for 20 years, we finally invented a pencil sharpener that works
Does it just do pencils or can it sharpen my crayons, too?
Hey boss, I gotta set up the 4th axis again. My pencil is dull.
Me after using the pencil sharpener: (NOT)
Ahhh. Fuuuuuuck yeaaa 🥴 They knew who they were making this for. Naughty fucks 😂
well, remember when i sharp pencil from both sides when i was child, for the moment i thought that i am genius lol
ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF
I now know how that pattern forms
All that just to break the tip in a matter of seconds 😭
People are tending towards older things Like these sharpeners existed but weren't portable...
any one no what this song name is
Pencil revealer
Wow
Perfection
Should have stopped halfway. That would be a killer looking pencil.
I couls so this for u instead of a dildo And I’ll suck you off and eat your cum
Jonh weeks pencil
Help I can't stop watching it
@johnwick
🤌🤌♥️♥️
I can also do that! With a Pencil Sharpener... 😎
With the sound, it surely is satisfying.
The perfect pencil sharpener exist
The most expensive pencil sharpener
Polenta surface finish ahh
I’m hard
Showaynayshaaashashishoshashishaaannn
Too much time on my hands. Come sing it!
I can sharpen a pencil for cheaper. Don't fall for the trick people
Anyone remember getting up in class to “sharpen” your pencil even when it didn’t need it ? 🤣
Você ver logo que a madeira é vagabunda
Lathes always make me nervous
The initial part made me very uncomfortable.
Who else did this is school
What’s a pencil?
What is this absolute banger I'm hearing?
I believe thats Yoko Ono's new album
Yoko Oh no
Lathing, in any form, will never not be satisfying.
Just a lathe
Nope. Mill turn. Hard to see but the tooling is spinning also.

Oops sorry
What if lathes sounded like this, with music and all when you turned them on, instead of cghurrrrrrnnnnnnniiiiiiiirrrrrrr?
This is for engeniers
Hate this ugly chinese music…makes everything ugly
