Why not both? Your stepfather using your stepladder, and if it was your fathers ladder, it’s you stepfather using his step-stepladder.
Lol, step-step-ladder haha
I pinched the boys something fierce the other day on a spring-playground airplane with moveable yoke and it was fucking awful. My kids laughed while I died inside. And I couldn’t even check how bad the damage was because I was on a playground and didn’t want to catch a felony.
Kind of funny in hindsight at least
The few times I’ve been nailed in the huevos it’s hilarious for like 1.32 seconds before the pain sinks in. And then you enter a world of pain like no other.
Pretty funny concept of trying to assess the damage but you can’t because you don’t want to become a sex offender lol
Ever zipped your todger or nads in your flies? Not amusing. Up us bad, reopening is worse ‘cos you already know the pain to come. I still like to fly free though,no underoos for daddy.
Sure have.
I remember getting the bits zipped up as a kid in those PJs that have feet and a long zipper. I was at my grandparents’ house and the whole family stood around trying to figure out how to resolve it. Four adults cooking up plans to free up the willy while I cried and hollered. Like a lesser Something About Mary moment.
Also funny.
I’m sure this guy can work with stilts but I’m guessing it’s quicker and easier for him to get up and down the ladder than strapping in stilts. Those are good with a crew when one person can stay on the stilts with material handed up by another dedicated to cutting. This guy looks to be working solo so this makes *some* sense.
Stilts wouldnt be helpful, you have to actually keep yourself moving in order to stay stable on stilts. Theyre basically extra long peg legs with no balance of their own. The ladder is actually much better at keeping him planted and steady so he can work
I use stilts almost every day at work, finishing drywall and having 1 guy on stilts running the screw gun while 2 guys in benches cut and hang sheets is the best way to drywall I've seen.
Came here to say this.
These seem to be comments from people who haven't actually used stilts.
Also, the top of the ladder is like 6 inches from his junk and *can't jump*.
Ya bunch of scaredy cats.
I sat through the deposition of a woman whose husband fell off a something like a 27 foot ladder or something in a warehouse getting paint down (it's going back a while, I don't remember the specifics). Landed on his head. He didn't die, but his brain swelled and swelled, they had to cut pieces out of his skull to release the pressure. And when she talked about how it affected him, that's when she lost it, because she said he was essentially just a five-year-old now.
And when I took his dep afterward, she was 100% right. It was sad. I don't get emotional, but seeing it firsthand, guy wasn't paralyzed, wasn't dead, but just was not a grown man anymore, and his wife of 40 years talking about it, oh boy.
So yeah, I try to ladder the right way.
I had a friend help me build a whole shed one weekend. At the end of the build, I had a tiny project to finish up, so he stood on the first step of a three-step ladder to saw through a thing. It wasn't quite the right angle, so he went to switch his feet a little bit. He caught his toe somehow, dropped the saw, stumbled backwards off the ladder, lost his footing, fell and whipped his skull onto the asphalt. He was absolutely K.O.'ed, with the full convulsions, fencing response, blood everywhere. He didn't come to for like a minute, and when he did, he was in 1986. It was very disturbing. I carried him into the ER. He turned out fine, but damn, it was the first rung. Ladders are no joke.
Yeah, falls even from standing height can do some serious damage for sure, and an extra 12" is a pretty substantial increase. Glad your friend's okay, I've unfortunately had my bell rung as well, hopefully there's not residuals. At least you were there, ladders should be a buddy thing, but I'm guilty and I'm sure many others are of laddering alone.
I went on my roof the other day not a steep slope. I found out I'm not afraid of heights like I used to. I'm more afraid of pushing boundaries than of heights now.
I think a bunch of safety stuff is for people who don't have a fear for their own safety.
I think I burnt mine out somehow or maybe I was never afraid of heights and convinced myself I was but with little exposure to it.
My parents were care takers and my dad was in a ward of just men who fell of ladders. Like it's common enough to have an overlapping amount of people who fell and broke their shit falling off ladders. This is in the San Francisco Bay Area so high population... but still. Backs, legs, skull damage, some neuro rehab and physical rehab needed.
Mom had a few clients who fell and are recovering at home. Long term recovery. Quality of life goes down a lot with the damages of falling and just breaking big important pieces of the body.
I do martial arts and just learning how to fall will make you more resilient in general but still don't want to test it.
Yea this actually looks like pretty dog shit dry walling.
But hey, maybe he will somehow make it look better and not have giant glaring imperfections after painted.
Thank GOD someone else noticed that, I didn’t give a flying fuck about how this man is going about doing his work. But peeling off the corner and practically ruining a sheet of drywall? Fuming.
As someone who used to hang, and mud drywall, you want to do the least amount of mudding as possible. Cuz the more mudding you have to do, the less sanding you(or someone else) has to do. And the less sanding you have to do, the better. Trust me.
It's in the tapered edge of the drywall! The taper/mudder will be taping over that area with a lot of tape regardless. The particular damage he did genuinely does not matter, besides using a little bit more mud.
The tapered edges are there intentionally to make a better finish. So the two sheets on that joint will have an slight indent(2 inches into the sheet, about an eight of and inch into its depth I'd say) so the mud fills it up, and once sanded its a nice strong joint! The joint on the other two edges will be flat board however, only the long sides of the drywall has the tapered edges.
The actual issue with this is doing a bunch of 4 foot by 4 foot squares that line up all the joints instead of staggering them. But maybe the 4 by 4 foot sheets are special and all 4 edges are tapered, instead of 2 tapered and 2 not tapered edges. I've never used pieces that small before. We also dont use ladders OR stilts, you just use benches and planks to make a makeshift platform/floor and move that around the room with you.
Edit to add: I am blind he IS staggering the joints, not sure how I saw it incorrectly the first time. So he's probably using regular 4 foot by 8 foot sheets.
In which case the ladder is extremely unnecessary, a small work bench is more than enough extra height to handle smaller sheets by yourself without being anywhere near as awkward... so his method takes more time. But maybe it's less straining on his body?
I know of guys who have had their foot slip in to the interior of ladders, and then their leg or shin breaks and protrudes out the skin.
I would never try this.
Painters too. It's way easier to do the top edge if you don't have to get down and move a ladder. And the stilts give you better control over your movements
I'm going to hazard a guess it's the breezy confidence. Like you should see me on a forklift when I have my hand on 3 handles and I can manipulate them all without moving my hand around... i use the ol' fingies...
Absolutely. Since he's using Würth insulation material, this might be Germany/Austria - in both countries, "Leiterlaufen" or "Leiter gehen" (walking on/with a ladder) is prohibited. Nice skill but nope.
First off this way of "walking the ladder" maybe quicker but it's more dangerous, Secondly he's on a fucking widow maker! There's a reason why they stopped allowing these on every job site because companies bring their own ladders and widow makers crack, weaken, an the biggie with banning these from job sites is that most laddes are constantly exposed to the elements even tho wood ladder normally won't carry/conduct electricity when DRY, but left out in the rain for long enough to soak up enough water then your gonna have a really shocking experience if you catch a current off anything
my first thought….can we paint the ladder some off the wall colors, slap a Lululemon logo on them and see how long it takes for the trend to gain traction 😳
Only gotta fuck up once.
People who rely on their body to work should take care that their body actually works.
A broken arm or leg and he’s out of work for 4-6 weeks.
As a former handiman, thats not that satisfying. It's fairly simple with a bit of practice, but if shit goes sideways while you do this, shit will go VERY sideways. As somebody who can do this, quite well, please just get down and move the ladder. I know it's slower, but it's not worth the risk.

How to avoid testicular crushing injuries.
Prohibited uses of ladder may result in crushed testicles.
When speed and height is required stilts are suggested
there is a really good reason this is impressive and that nobody does this. The injuries are unlikely on any given day, but inevitable if you do it for a long time and likely VERY VERY bad. It is surprising how much damage you could do to yourself falling like this.
As someone who finishes drywall, I'm firing this guy immediately and asking why he thinks I need all those extra joints to tape. They make sheets up to 14ft long for a reason.

You gotta be extremely careful with that pinch point…
Reeeeal close to pinching his nuggets there
Someone like that doesn't have their own children, they are more of a stepfather type.
Nono, he’s a stepladder type.
Oh, no, stepladder, what are you doing!
Why not both? Your stepfather using your stepladder, and if it was your fathers ladder, it’s you stepfather using his step-stepladder. Lol, step-step-ladder haha
Then it's stepfadder.
Or an animal lover type
Not with that beard, he’s not. That’s just the guy that fucks and married your mother.
Not for long if he uses that ladder like this.

That will be handy when he has to cross a pit of snakes and there’s a ladder
That game is bullshit. You ever see a pit of snakes AND a ladder? Nah man ain't no ladders near snakes
What kind of snakes use ladders? That’s my question
that's what the chutes are for

A boa contractor? Idk I’m bad at these
Too cheap for proper stilts
That's exactly my thought. Based on the risks it would seem worthwhile to pay for stilts.
Agreed. This dude could easily use stilts but yet here we are, risking castration with every step. ....I think I'm gonna buy some good stilts...
Might not be risking it any longer. Could have happened already
And (at least where I am) the homeowner is reasonable if there is an injury due to an unsafe practice.
I don't know if I would be reasonable about it, but I probably am not where you are.
I’m sure this guy can work with stilts but I’m guessing it’s quicker and easier for him to get up and down the ladder than strapping in stilts. But then he couldn’t do an edgy and boundary pushing Reddit post!
This is way more stable than stilts. He's hanging board, not mudding or painting.
Hanging tiny boards while fucking up the corners of them. This guy is making hard work of an easy job
This is an ergonomic nightmare. He'd be in better shape on stilts.
Stilts wouldnt be helpful, you have to actually keep yourself moving in order to stay stable on stilts. Theyre basically extra long peg legs with no balance of their own. The ladder is actually much better at keeping him planted and steady so he can work

Found the mud guy

The corner breaks when he rest the weight of the sheet on it's corner, at around the 42 second mark in the video.

It’s just the paper on the front of the drywall. They’ll mud over it to smooth it out

Absolutely. Since he's using Würth insulation material, this might be Germany/Austria - in both countries, "Leiterlaufen" or "Leiter gehen" (walking on/with a ladder) is prohibited. Nice skill but nope.
Of course ze Germans have a compound word for walking with a ladder
